Ben Hardy to Play Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse

Here's some news most X-Men fans hoped was coming down the line. Bryan Singer revealed today, to Empire, that Angel is coming to X-Men: Apocalypse and Angel will be played by Ben Hardy, known for his work on the television series EastEnders.

As many fans know, Warren Worthington III and Apocalypse have a history with each other. In the comics, Apocalypse offered to restore Angel's wings, which he lost, but in turn, Apocalypse made him into Archangel,one of his four horsemen of the Apocalypse: Death.

Singer had this to say about Hardy and Angel:

Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” said Singer. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…

Does that mean we'll be seeing Death/Archangel? Well, from the looks of these concept art images, that may be the case.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 16, 2016.

Wow. I figured with Apocalypse involved we'd see the metal wings. I think it looks cool. It also has me lamenting the lack of a live action Hawkman movie.

The wings look really cool, hope that's not what his hair will look like.

Dag. I guess Ben Foster, who played WWIII (Warren Worthington III) in X3, is out of the game.

I hate Bryan Singer he doesn't know how to make a great superhero film, but at least stuff seems like it will look cool in this movie.

@crimz: This hair is actually a homage with a modern twist to his hairstyle and costume from the comic books.

Wow! Another inconsistency. First Jubilee, now Angel.

As I've remembered, Angel was introduced in X-Men 3 as an older character. If this is the 80's, he should be pretty young, the same age as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. I wish Fox could do some research. Just because they rebooted the X-Men movie verse with X-Men: Days of Future Past, it doesn't mean they can just throw in some random characters from previous movies.

That being said, I'm looking forward to this movie. But the age difference that is being played out is all wrong. Can Time Travel actually do that? There has to be a better explanation.

You may be right. But Archangel doesn't have to be included in the movie just because Apocalypse is in it. There are other mutant candidates who can be transformed into the Four Horsemen. If Angel hadn't appeared in X-Men 3, it would make sense. Unless, Apocalypse found a way to extract mutants from different realities, which is this version of Angel comes to this altered timeline and being recruited to become the Horseman of Apocalypse. That would make a lot more sense. I know the the previous X-Men movies has been ignored. But if someone can prove that time travel can alter the age difference as in Angel and Jubilee were born in a different time from their previous timeline, I'm all ears.

IDK why, but I have a feeling this movie will bomb.

No superhero movie at this moment in time is going to bomb. It might be a bad movie but it will still make hundreds of millions of dollars regardless.

Techno-Organic wings! Yes! It looks like they are going to use the awesome X-Force design on Archangel.

I mean in comparison to other Superhero films and what they thought they'd make. Somewhere around $350 - $600 million worldwide.

First I have high hopes for Deadpool and now for (Arch)Angel in X-Men Apocalypse. I hope they keep this concept.

Another sterilized, boring concept for an X-Men movie, surprise surprise. Looks like some sort of armor he puts on instead of a fusion between flesh and tech. More like a white Falcon than Archangel. Put some damn effort into it for god sakes! But I'm just a bitter old man eternally disappointed with the X-Men films, and I know I'm alone than this, what do I know? And please, if anybody does get all riled up by one man's dissenting opinion, please don't reply with that "don't like don't look at it" crap.
