Pretty self explanatory title. I glanced through the first half dozen or so pages on the forums here and I didn't see a topic dedicated to a favorite X-moment over the years. I'll start us off! My personal favorite moment doesn't involve an epic fight or some type of romantic scene. It's a return!
Now apparently this was the worst kept secret in comics at the time, but I was going to school and hadn't read comics for a few years. So around 2005/2006 ish I heard about this comic series that was flying off the shelves. I eventually bought into the series and around a half dozen issues in I was treated to my favorite character returning from the grave. I was beyond surprised/excited. Joss Whedon has given me much entertainment over the years and was solely responsible for bringing back Petey. He can do no wrong.
Oh boy, I got a load of favorite moments from the X-Men! Well, Colossus being resurrected from the dead is one of my all time favorite moments, but here are some other moments of X-Men that I really loved:
@Rickbarry: very nice topic and pick. I'd have very hard time picking just one moment, even just from Whedon and Cassaday's run, so I'm gonna make a list -hope that's not against the spirit of this!
1) yeah, pretty much every moment in the Whedon/Cassaday Astonishing run. X-men done right.
2) any moment from Days of Future Past that emphasizes how much Kitty or Wolverine are destined to grow as characters. like how Wolverine eventually stops using his claws and still kicks major ass.
3) Magneto's speech to the court in the Trial of Magneto, "the world is my home, not this nor any part of it".. pure balls; so good.
4) Wolverine taking the Nightcrawler to Harry's Hideaway and getting him drunk enough to walk down the street in broad daylight without his image inducer. It's from one of Claremont's back up stories in Classic X-men. those stories totally made Classic X-men far superior to the originals, and this is one of my favourite moments for both of those characters.
5) Kitty standing up to a human mob to save Nightcrawler when he'd lost his powers. I can't remember what issue this is (can anyone else remember?), but I fell in love with that scene.
6) all of Uncanny X-men Annual #11, especially the contrast between the opening and closing scenes. Especially relevant given recent history, Wolverine gains god-like powers and realizes in about three panels that this would corrupt him. For me, this is the last issue of the "Classic" age of X-men, and the only one after Kitty has left.
7) Colossus picking up Magneto after his attack on the X-men at Illyana's funeral backfires on him, and Kitty and Wolverine's reactions to it. Uncanny X-men #298 to #304 or so is all super good to me, but this is the culmination of that run. unless you count Wolverine #75 *choke*..
8) Storm challenging and beating Cyclops for leadership of the X-men, in Uncanny X-men #201. Sick Rick Leonardi art and character defining moments, possibly even more bad ass then when she beat Calisto.
9) Beast coming out of his coma, "Professor X is in this old lady -help me!" -if anyone can get up a picture of this scene, they should; it's perfect.
10) Silence! Psychic Rescue in Progress! for me, this is the stand out issue of Morrison and Quietly's run, and that really was a great run.
One of my all time favorite moments from X-men was the end of second coming on the golden gate bridge. That was the last time the X-men felt "epic". AVX came nowhere close to it.
Big question. I don't know where people find scans but; When Rogue ends up in the Savage Land and teams up with Magneto (weird couple but whatever) there's a part where Magneto kills some Russian general guy (he killed his son years before). Love a Magneto who can almost justify his actions.
Colossus/Kitty is a good choice, love how much the art talks. Damn this thread reminds me how awesome Whedon was. Like the Hope moment as well.

Definitely agree with this!!! For me, any moment between Kitty and Colossus in Joss Whedon's run was fantastic, like this scene:
Havok beating the hell out of Cyke thus powering him up to obliterate Sinister in X-Factor #39. Sinister should have remained dead though, it would have been a real book end in the X-Men saga.
@dangallant984: Well spidey fought them many times back then and always won. So I wouldn't doubt if they did it again...although now because of spiderman #700..
Another moment that will always stay within my heart. Mainly because prior to this i wasn't exactly a big fan of Emma Frost's character, but this beautful exchange of words between herself and Ms Marvel in New X-Men brought some new found respect.
1) Cyclops and Jean make their final stand against the Imperial Guard, holding their ground for as long as they can after the less experienced members were overwhelmed.
2) Magneto rips the adamantium from Wolverine's bones; because he had threatened to do this before and I was hoping Logan would never get it back.
3) All Out Assault on Krakoa, with all of the X-Men and the passing of the torch as most of the original members retired from active membership.
@NightHaunter: Honestly I have no idea what they were thinking while writing her. Personally I think Cable should have stayed dead and she should have taken his place as the jaded, future soldier on a mission to save the past. The Hope we got in Cable would have done just that and probably would have created her own X-Force.

These definitely! I wanted to put the moment where Kitty stands up to the mob in my top moments of the "Mutant Massacre" storyline, but I couldn't find the pic for that!
@Rabbitearsblog: I almost forgot that moment with Kitty myself; got down to number nine and was like "hell, now I have to push everything down a slot or look like an ass hole"
Also forgot Magneto at the swing set in God loves, Man kills. there's just too many..

Exactly. I totally get where you are going with this.

Oh yeah! I also remembered the moment where Stryker brainwashes Xavier into thinking that the X-Men were demons.
I remembered this moment from the Dark Phoenix Saga! It was so sad...
Rereading this page and Gwen Stacy's Death always makes me melancholy.
It's strange that this was built up so much before I got round to reading it, and I knew exactly what happened, but it was still so emotional. Shows what a great story it was.
Here are a few of my favorite scenes from "God Loves Man Kills:"
awww yeeeah! now that's what I'm talking about!
hey, on a side note, whenever I try to put more than one image in a post, I can't get it to work (my original post for this thread looked epic until I hit post), does anyone know why this might be?

I had problems with trying to post several pics at once too. I'm not sure why it keeps doing that.
