'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Extended Edition on the Way

X-Men: Days of Future Past included a whole lot of mutants. Everyone from Blink to Toad made an appearance. However, it was revealed that Rogue's big scene was cut before the movie hit theaters. If this bums you out, you'll be happy to know the Blu-ray/DVD will include her role! X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner was asked about the mutant and confirmed what everyone has suspected: yes, we'll see a director's cut or extended version of X-Men: Days of Future Past!

No word yet on what month it'll be released or what else it'll include. Still, it's good to know the Blu-ray will reveal even more footage. Meanwhile, director Bryan Singer's movie is still in some theaters and, according to Box Office Mojo, has earned a whopping $724,741,129 worldwide at the box office.

Viners, do you plan on buying X-Men: Days of Future Past when it goes on sale?

I believe the writer said it was just the evolution of her powers. Still, it would have been nice to have a remark about this in the movie instead of just making us assume and then wait for confirmation during a later interview.

Will there be separate editions of this blu-ray, a standard and an extended version releasing at a later date?

I figured. Not just because of Rogue either. The trailer featured a little bit of dialogue that wasn't in the movie.

"We're gonna need Mystique."

"Why?"

"She's a cold-hearted b-"

"Well don't hold back."

Am I misremembering or was something like that missing?

Actually both of these things are showed in Xman the last stand.

@black_arrow: Actually we only saw the brain dead patient with Charles' voice and mind and Erik moving a chess piece. But still no explanation to why that happened.

In one of the classroom scenes, Charles explained how can he do it (I would try to search the scene and put it here). Erik moving a chess piece was simply showing that the cure wasn't permanent.

This might be the first movie I buy for home release in awhile. Strangely 2 of the 4 blu-rays I own are already X-Men films.

Well, that would be delightful to see more of Rogue.

There is an after credit scene in X3 that hints Charles is still alive apparently.

And Erik is also hinted at not losing his powers in X3 as well. That I remember for sure.

It's explained in the commentary that the body Charles transferred his mind into was his twin brother's, explaining why he looks the same. But there's still no explanation as to why he still his powers or why he's in a wheelchair.

As for how Magneto got his powers back, it's implied at the end when we see him move the metal chess piece that the Mutant Cure may not be permanent . This would also explain how Rogue has her powers back in DoFP as well, as she also took the cure in The Last Stand.

@k4tzm4n: yea that would be nice, we already suffer through enough continuity errors throughout the x-men films. Even though DOFP did correct a lot, it made more at the same time. will we ever be relieved??

Hm...looks like I'll hold off on the standard edition to see if the extended is good. Typically the extended editions are good, but not always. I remember the Donnie Darko Directors Cut was god awful as it pretty much explained everything in the movie leaving none of it to mystery.

I'd rather it contain alternate scenes to set up the storyline in the past so an alternate cut of the movie could be watched without the scenes in the future. I always complained about the super realistic takes on superhero & comics that prevented the out-there stuff like aliens, time travel, Dracula etc being adapted properly, & I liked this movie, but TBH I'd rather it just have been a sequel to First class & not involve the future at all. I really do not care about a few cut scenes of a character that had nothing to do with the plot at all.

Xavier had a twin that had been in a coma since birth, Moira MacTaggart had him under her care and PX just transplanted his consciousness into that body. Erik moves a chesspiece.

This movie was brilliant on every level, I'm getting two copies, one to watch and one to Bronze and worship. Absolutely stellar.

The version I watched did have Rogue in it. It was brief but it was still there.

Awesome.

I do enjoy the comic version better but I have to say I was very impressed with the movie. I'm mostly upset that they killed off Banshee. I'll definitely be grabbing the extended edition!

@xxxddd: Yeah, we know that The Last Stand was retconned at the end of the movie, but we're still wondering if there was ever an explanation to some of things that happened in The Last Stand before everything was retconned.

I'm cool with them retconning The Last Stand, as well as the previous two movies, and giving the X-verse a clean slat. But it would still be nice to have an in-story explanation to things such as how Xavier retained his powers or why he's still in a wheelchair, as well as other things like explaining Kitty's new powers and how Wolverine got his metal claws back after The Wolverine. All of these things could easily be explained and many are hoping that this extended cut will have those explanations.

@war_killer: The Kitty Pride time travel was a deus ex machina/comic-book homage.

It was a deus ex machina in the sense that Simon Kinberg came up with a silly reason to explain how the surviving X-Men are able to travel.

It was a comic-book homage since-in the Days of Future Past arc-it was Kitty Pride that traveled backward in time, not Wolverine. Wolverine was the time traveler(in the film) since he the protagonist of the X-Men film franchise, but the movie honored Kitty by having her be the reason he time travel in the first place.

For what?? Just for them to add on additional footage to the past characters leaving the future scenes still with 5min of screen time?? I swear they better have alot more future scenes and action sequences or I'm takin the damn thing back. And if they don't return it......... well then I'm snappin the dang disk right there leaving it on the counter and walkin away like a BAD A$$ MUTHA TRUCKA!!!

Hooray, maybe the extended edition will be less silly!
