(Not current, obviously) Wolverine and Jean Grey

Agreed.

Wolverine anyone else is just bad.

#52 Posted by Polarity (106 posts) - - Show Bio

If casual Wolvie/Storm sex was good enough for Claremont, then it's good enough for me.

#53 Posted by AgeofHurricane (7282 posts) - - Show Bio

@mistressoftheelements: Lol. Sorry but nah. Wolverine's really dirty, in all respects. It's not even about class, he's just not good enough for Storm anymore.

#54 Posted by MistressOfTheElements (514 posts) - - Show Bio

@ageofhurricane: Nope, I rather see Storm in X-Men FULL TIME with Wolverine not with Black Panther in africa and only a PART TIME X-Men.

#55 Posted by AgeofHurricane (7282 posts) - - Show Bio

@mistressoftheelements: It's the fact that Storm's FULL time with the X-Men that's causing her character to grow extremely stagnant, at least when she was with T'challa, there was potential for her to broaden the scope in terms of MU interactions--obviously that wasn't the case save for her brief stint with the FF.

And Wolverine's dirty.

#56 Posted by MistressOfTheElements (514 posts) - - Show Bio

@ageofhurricane: But why come when Storm was not with BP she had more appearances than she have now frequently.When she had her relationship with Wolverine she been showed more & more in the X-Men (Not The Movie's).

I will have to agree with this, as well. It was barely a romantic triangle to begin with.

Magma and Sunspot. Mostly because Magma keeps leading on Sunspot making her a s**hy person.

Oh gosh yes. Thats what made me think of it. All New Xmen is the first Marvel Book ive picked up in a long time, and thats one of the things turning me off severely.

I can't believe i forgot how much i dislike anything Wolverine and Jean. It was one of the biggest problems i had with both the animated series and the movie trilogy.

It shouldn't never happen or be that big of a deal but somehow it persists like it was something significant or profound in their lives.

I will always love them. And i really hope they get to be an iconic couple. But I think the timing right now is a little off for them. Maybe after Storm regains her spotlight and Wolverine get's killed off and then revived will i like them better. I can wait.

I personally hated Kitty and Colossus. That couple was so mind-numbingly dull. They did absolutely nothing for years. Outside of Whedon's run, the most action they ever spent together was during AvX.

I also thought Rogue and Magneto was creepy. And I do not like Storm/Wolverine, I know Claremont had them together, but how do you go from a rich/genius husband to him?

That's because the two were inappropriately aged for one another and, once they were old enough, they were separated by death, a space bullet and/or ideology.

#66 Posted by Outside_85 (8547 posts) - - Show Bio

I will say Scott and Jean since it's now culminated in Scott being Magneto Jr.

@ageofhurricane: I rather see Storm with a hairy furball then Black Panther that had sex with the goddess at only at age 12!Not to mention Storm class is much higher than Black Panther's. I always loved seeing Storm and Wolverine since the episode "One Man's Front" of the original X-Men in the 80's-90's.It made sense and the writer did really good for that pairing and it seem like she really love a man like the furball.

Sorry but thats just hillarious. One former street urchin and a king of a nation and he is the one without class?

#67 Edited by AgeofHurricane (7282 posts) - - Show Bio

@outside_85: To be fair, Storm's royalty with or without T'challa. But yeah, that's a crass statement to make.

Emma and Scott, they were a couple for 9 years, X-Men main couple. The only couple in the spotlight and nothing happened in there relationship. They didn't, moved forward. Emma just lived in Cyclops shadows. It wasn't a equal relationship.

Everyone says this about Cyclops significant other no matter who it is sadly. Either it was Maddie with the "you look like Jean" thing, Or Jean with "boring" love / "stale relationship" or Emma just acting like Tera Patrick's expensive sister. Cyclops over shadows any character he is with. I just prefer it to be the one he was designed with, at least that way it natural, realistic and mildly symbolic.

Rogneto. The relationship that damned Carey's Legacy, and much of Rogue's character. Then there's the looming Storm/Wolverine. That's quite repulsive.

Also still don't understand why Storm/BP is classified as an X-Couple, it's bloody not.

This.

#79 Posted by Rickbarry (1761 posts) - - Show Bio

I can't say I get all the hate for the whole Colossus/Kitty relationship. Sure, they flirted a long time ago, but they've been a couple for a total of a dozen or so issues? I mean, they actually sealed the deal in Astonishing and one day later she was 'dead'.

LOL MAN. You just compared Emma Frost to Tera Patrick, of all people, eh ? XD

@avenger85: Even if she quits the x-men, vivid videos will take her back.

#82 Posted by Avenger85 (1627 posts) - - Show Bio

@chasereis:

lol man, why hate Emma so much ? The poor girl has suffered quite a bit throughout her life. She even lost her entire fortune. She isn't even the White Queen anymore. Just plain-jane Emma Frost now. Cut her some slack please :(

Fantomex and Fantomex duh

#85 Posted by Avenger85 (1627 posts) - - Show Bio

@mistressoftheelements:

Well you should read up on her in the Whedon X-Men stories. She's proven herself to be not only a legit member of the X-Men, but also a great Headmistress of the school.

#86 Edited by chasereis (794 posts) - - Show Bio

@avenger85: "Hate" implies an emotion. That is further than my concern for the character. I bought her first issue from a magazine rack at the magic market and I didn't like her. here it is several decades later and the best that can be mustered for her is Cyclops is banging a "porn star" version of madonna complete with false British accent. She has never impressed me, but at her best she didn't bore me but didn't excite nor interest me either. In the grandest view she is a fantasy of sexual intercourse with a unrealistic faux porn star. However if it makes you feel better Arcade nor Mojo (but I love Spiral) can't be saved in my opinion either.

@chasereis:

Ah well I admit, Hate was a bit of an exaggeration on my part. Dislike was the right word for it lol.

I agree with the OP, Ororo/T'Challa didn't work for me, she should've stayed with Forge

#93 Posted by FadeToBlackBolt (23334 posts) - - Show Bio

@vance_astro: I just hate when villains are rewarded. I don't mind when they win, but not when they're rewarded (like in Superior Spider-Man).

Even though Marvel likes to paint Mags as something of an anti-hero, but he's still homicidal and warmongering and was still a villain for the majority of his life.

Forge is a lame character though. I would rather her be alone than with Forge. Ororo\T'Challa wasn't written well but on paper he's a perfect match.

I know that I'm supposed to talk about the couples I hate, but I'd prefer to talk about the ones I love, so here goes. I love Scott and Emma. I think that Scott and Jean were good together in the past, but that they've outgrown each other. Emma and Scott are a good team, I think. Scott has the goodness and trust to enable Emma to be the hero she always had the potential of being, and Emma has the strength and the confidence to support Scott as a leader. Plus they are so hot together! I'm not really sure what's going on with X-men right now, so they might be broken up, I dunno . . .

I haven't really ever enjoyed a relationship that Ororo has had. They just haven't found her the right man, I guess. I don't at all hate the idea of Jean and Wolverine, though to be honest I can't picture Wolverine as ever being capable of committing to just one woman. I like Kitty and Colossus together -- Whedon sold them on me. I think they're magic together. I like Rogue and Gambit together, though I don't think that they're meant for each other at the end of the day. But the fact that they fell in love with one another makes perfect since to me. I'm waiting for Beast to find the right woman. It's very frustrating. I love what comic writers have done with Xavier's love life. His failed relationships with Moira and Lilandra are heartbreaking to me, and part of me likes that such a powerful, important man has been unable to find happiness in his personal life. It seems realistic, I guess. Havok and Polaris have always sort of bothered me, as an item and as a couple, so . . .

I like that Wolverine and the X-Men paired Nightcrawler with Wanda. His heroic bravado and chivalry, her pride and grace -- they had crazy chemistry in my opinion. And I'd like to see the furry elf getting more action than he has in the past.

Personally, I'm tired of watching Iceman be placed in one shitty relationship after another. To me, Bobby's always been a major closet case. Plus, I feel as if the X-Men need to have a gay character (Northstar isn't really a central character to the franchise) and it already fits Bobby's character rather nicely. It would explain his relationship woes, his low self esteem, his inability to fulfill his true potential, his desire to never be serious. I don't know who gay Iceman should be with though (Northstar seems a little obvious -- pairing the only two gay characters together seems a bit obnoxious).

Rogue & Magneto. I can't even explain why. That's repulsive.

#98 Posted by SCORPIO_CASSADINE (727 posts) - - Show Bio

@night_thrasher:

@mistressoftheelements: I disagree with that first post 100%. Storm and Black Panther made more sense than 90% of the pairings in comics. What they are doing now with the couple makes no sense. The potential of that couple could have been epic, almost a Barack/Michelle of comics. Which would not only be good for comics, but also a good positive example of an ethnic couple in which we so lack in comics.

HELL YEAH!

I hate Emma and Namor. It doesn't make sense to me; I don't think Emma would betrail Scott. He is the only one who ever 100% accepted her among the X-Men and he offers the redemtion she is seeking.
