1) Ororo Munroe/Storm/Mistress Of The Elements

She has the most unique power I have ever seen in my life! She is the only one with weather powers and that makes her stand out like the rest.Who else can control the weather patterns as well as the atmospheric and space properties of the earth and the rest of the planets?LETS HAIL ORORO MUNROE<3

2) Domino

I like Domino’s power… and a great partner to Cable’s temperament, I recommend! Domino can psionically change the negative moods and switch all odds to agree on her side.

3)Polaris

Lorna Dane is unique because she has a green hair, green eyes, not to mention her both mystic and latent powers. Her power was to make flowers change their colors! Unique, right?

Ill agree with Storm as a choice.

Magnetos power is also pretty damn awesome all the ways you can use magnetism.

Cannonball is pretty cool to me

I really like all of these characters, and I like that you picked out some idiosyncratic ways that their powers are distinct, but I don't know if unique really applies to any of them (power wise). Storm is one of my favorites, and definitely unique as a character, but the idea of a storm god or someone who can control the weather has been a classic theme in countless mythologies long before she came along, even in comics.

Domino is another favorite, but her powers are sort of derivative of characters like Longshot, or even the Scarlet Witch; although, I do much prefer her as a character to either of them. And Polaris, well, I guess she's Magneto's daughter; yes, they've shown both of them using their powers in idiosyncratically different ways (one time Magneto created an ice storm that encased a Sentinel, because, y'know, magnets), but fundamentally it's the same idea.

I think Cannonball's pretty unique. His powers seem somehow obvious, but I can't think of anyone else who's powers really work like that. Likewise with Husk; it seems obvious, but I can't think of any character really like that before her.

Rogue's powers are pretty distinct, actually..

I was going to say Multiple-man, too, but I feel like there are at least a few characters that are basically the same idea.

1. Prodigy, he had telepathy but it was a low level that only allowed him to learn everything from people who were in proximity, when they left he lost their knowledge. i thought it was cool when the cuckoos unlocked everything he had forgotten and he went from nerd leader to BAMF like taking out one of his students with some martial arts he learned from being close to wolverine.

2. Darwin, the power to do anything to keep yourself alive even if that means getting the power to teleport away from a fight. kinda stupid to me that he died in x-men first class but w/e

3. Domino, idk if longshot counts as an x-men but he has probability powers too although domino can use hers for whatever i think while longshot cant use his for selfish reasons. still a cool passive power though

good call on Prodigy. Something I've wondered about characters like Prodigy is if the term "low level" telepathy is really accurate; to my mind, it seems not so much lower as it a specialized version of telepathy. He may not be consciously perceiving the conscious thoughts of those around him, but I feel like the sheer amount of information that he can access from an individual (as well as how quickly he seems to process it) puts his powers beyond that of what a low level telepath would perceive. Just a thought.

I always thought Magma had cooler powers over earth/whatnot than Storm.

#13 Edited by AgeofHurricane (7200 posts) - - Show Bio

Yes for Prodigy.

#14 Posted by AgeofHurricane (7200 posts) - - Show Bio

And there's not much unique about controlling the weather.

#15 Posted by MistressOfTheElements (514 posts) - - Show Bio

@rickbarry: No Magma has the same powers as human torch and sunspot and many more..Not much unique

#16 Posted by MistressOfTheElements (514 posts) - - Show Bio

@ageofhurricane: But then again she is the only one who has that type of powers in the comics. Not in greek mythology and fairy tales everyone basically have the same powers other than Storm,Cannonball and many others.

#17 Posted by MagnificentStorm (1312 posts) - - Show Bio

I do like Storm as a pick but her power is not to control the weather but the atmosphere which is even more unique.

I always thought scarlet witchs powers were unique unlike others where probability works in their favor she has the ability to affect probability in which ever way she wants.

#18 Edited by Rickbarry (1737 posts) - - Show Bio

@mistressoftheelements: I dunno. Doesn't she have control over Volcanoes and geokinesis? That's pretty unique.

It's hard to pick unique powersets with mutants. I guess Rockslide has a unique power. Colossus gets shiny. Proteus...well he's not an X-man. I'm rambling. :o

#19 Posted by MistressOfTheElements (514 posts) - - Show Bio

@rickbarry: Yes but Petra has geokinesis and Human Torch can manipulate fire and fly.So that is pretty much people have the same powers as Magma. No one has powers like Storm in the marvel franchise..Not even Thor.

#20 Posted by chiq (1768 posts) - - Show Bio

Gold Balls ftw.

#21 Posted by MistressOfTheElements (514 posts) - - Show Bio

@chiq: Not even a character..Nasty smh

I didn't realize you meant unique to marvel, but even still, you can't expect me to believe that Storm and Thor don't have similar powers. They both control the weather; just because writers have come up with ways to explain how they do that in different ways does not make either of their power sets unique.

pfft. I invented a character almost exactly like Gold Balls back in '94. She even sold hot-dogs.

@oldnightcrawler: Well the comics had never said that Thor had the control of the atmosphere. Only Storm..

#24 Posted by PrinceIMC (5421 posts) - - Show Bio

So Magma is the same as Human Torch and Petra while Storm and Thor are different? That's an odd distinction.

I think Husk, Maggott and Chamber have probably the most unique powers in the X-Men.

I think you're splitting hairs, and arbitrarily at that.

I like Pixie. Flight, teleportation/soul dagger (after getting it) and hallucinogenic dust.

#27 Posted by CrouchingTiger (148 posts) - - Show Bio

Juggernauts momentum power is pretty unique and so is Darwin. But my favorite power is Sebastian Shaw's for sure

#28 Posted by Moonchilde (1601 posts) - - Show Bio

1. Nothing against Storm, but how is weather manipulation "unique?" Thor has the exact same power and then some. Flash villain the Weather Wizard also has the same power. And that's just two characters that the average comic reader can name.

2. Domino's powerset would be unique, it's certainly uncommon. Longshot, however, has pretty much the same power set and predates her by about a decade.

3. Polaris was always just portrayed as a weaker Magneto, so again, not exactly unique.

Again, this is nothing against any of these characters, just that there powerset aren't very unique. In the case of both Storm and Polaris they are actually fairly common.

#29 Posted by chasereis (794 posts) - - Show Bio

The most unique power? The ability to stay in character...too bad I can think of a single X-Man in 20 years who has manifested that coveted "mutation"...Closest one would be Kurt (sans the porno director Austen's run). Other than that, nope nothin'.

There's Lifeguard. She manifests whatever powers are needed to keep others alive. Sage is a 'living computer'. Xorn's a mess so I really don't know about him. We'll say he has the power to be written really poorly.

#32 Posted by ShadowX (1083 posts) - - Show Bio

1) Husk

2) Maggot

3) Pixie ( her "pixie dust" powers are pretty unique)

Other ones i would include are.

Mercury - liquid metal

Stacey x- phermone control, snake like scales

Cipher- can understand any language including body language

Prodigy - Similar to cipher though in that they can both learn combat styles but he can also learn other skills as well.

1. Ororo Munroe aka Storm - weather control is awesome and she could do more than that. : )

2. Hollow/Penance - well we don't even know if she's a mutant or not. : )

3. Multiple Man - until Naruto came along. Still then, James Madrox is still unique

@jhazzroucher: I spend my vacation at Hawaii. Nothing better then to sit under the sun and enjoy nature.I wish Storm was somehow real that mean's we don't have to rely on the crappy news reporters lol!

why can't Halle just collaborate with a good director to help her make a Storm movie just like what Hugh did for Wolverine?

#1. Storm

Who else can control the weather patterns as well as the atmospheric and space properties of the earth and the rest of the planets? Well, she’s a powerful mutant and in the contrary, a claustrophobic! That’s what makes her unique , plus she's able to affect the intergalactic medium , and she can be like her name sake .. unpredictable

#2 Psylocke and her psychic blade

Well, that’s what makes her unique. I just love a woman whos good with knives :P plus idk anyother telepath that can do that

#3.Morph , not only able to coppy appearences but powers aswell ... pretty dangerous power IMO dont know who else can do that

#48 Posted by Blacharrt1 (751 posts) - - Show Bio

@stormchild1997: Morph's powers aren't unique, slapstick, is quite similar to Morph they both seem to use the toonforce, but in different ways. Also psylocke telepathic or telekinetic powers aren't really unique, however the way it's applied in use is.

@papad1992: I would argue Husk's powerset isn't unique, only the method at which she accesses her powers are by ripping off her skin is. But Darwin, Lifeguard have similar powerset, especially since Darwin can now willingly control how he body can change.

@mistressoftheelements: @oldnightcrawler: It's a very big misconception that Storm's powers are weather manipulation, that's not her powers, it's atmoskinesis/ecokinesis (i don't think that is a real word but it actually would apply). Storm's body has to synchronizes with her environment to properly allow her to manipulate the energies around her. Be it on earth, in space, and in different dimension, depending on where she is her powerset can and has changed to the types of energies she can manipulate. On Earth she uses these powers to manipulate weather patterns. In space she uses them to manipulate cosmic energies, solar winds etcs. In other dimension like the Mikail Rasputin dimension or the Trion Dimension the degree of the which depends on the energies that are being used their. So it's not like Thor's powerset at all, Thor uses magic to control weather, Storm using the Earth's energy patterns to weave weather.

Pixie's powerset mimic's magik to a great degree, it's not really unique, and her illusion powers aren't unique either the Dust delivery is though, but Dani Moonstar had illusion powers as well dealing with fear, and so does Trauma.

I personally think among the x-men. Storm has the most unique powerset, Rogue being the next unique powerset, third Legion (not only does he create unlimited amount of personality, but also different powersets, some of which i have never seen before.

#49 Posted by Veitha (2304 posts) - - Show Bio

Why everyone is saying Storm? Her powers aren't unique, there are many people who can manipulate weather in some ways... Storm herself, Thor, Kelda, Beta Ray Bill and other Asgardians, Rainmaker and a lot of other characters out of the Marvel Universe.

#50 Posted by Roddy010 (4930 posts) - - Show Bio

I've always thought Jubilee, Rogue and Elixir as the some of the most unique of of the mutants. Storm's character is unique but her powers ,though perform uniquely, is a pretty classic theme as someone else posted. Still no one can manipulate the elements like she can. Thor may have raw power but Storm has much more finesse and skill under her belt combine with versatility making her the most unique of the elementals.
