Do any of you guys think if Gambit or Wolverine was in Spider man's shoes in Spider man 2 after Doc Ock rips the handle apart and the train keeps going, gambit or wolverine would be able to stop the train and save the people like Spider man did? or would gambit and wolverine need to rely on each other for assistance for this?
Could gambit or wolverine stop a speeding train like Spidey?
They get ran over the train and it keeps on going. The end.
Fixed.
@thunderbolt30: Or that
No, but Gambit could make it explode and Wolverine could probably scratch it up pretty bad. Can Spider Man blow stuff up by touching it or... scratch stuff with knives?
...well
Arguably wolverine could be thrown under the train to act as a stopping mechanism
that's basically what I was going to say. he could stop the train, but not in the same way Spidey does.
though stronger than a baseline human, Wolverine's still nowhere near as strong as Spidey is (at his most desperate). But because of his unbreakable bones, he should be much tougher as an object.
Can't Gambit just charge the train kinetically at his full power?
And turn it into a giant bomb? He might, though I don't know his limits there but how does that save anyone?
No, they couldn't save the train in a similar fashion. Of course Storm could with a strong enough wind or Colossus could by just hopping out and grabbing it. (As he's done before).
Wolverine and Gambit would not be able to stop the train in the Spider-Man 2 movie scenario. However, if a train still had a heck of a lot of distance to cover before having to stop, Wolverine could eventually stop a train by dragging his claws through the ground. It probably would be slightly faster way to stop a train than the normal drag of the train.
Huh, as for Gambit, that senario has actually worked. Gambit has enough energy output to stop a moving train. He just needs Bishop to absorb his energy and rechannel it so Bish can stop the train. Actually, exactly that scenario happened in X-Men #51 and #52.
Is this a serious question? Both die.
not according to the story from Old Man Logan, in which Wolverine tries unsuccessfully to commit suicide by laying on the railroad tracks.
It never says what happened to the train, but it does say that he survived it.

You're right. I should have been more specific with my answer. Gambit dies. Wolverine dies over and over again but constantly heals himself to the point he keeps coming back to life and eventually stops the train with his slattered guts. :P
Gambit alone couldn't do it, but he helped stop a train in X-Men 50-51 by charging up the train and having Bishop absorb the energy so that Bishop would be strong enough to climb in front of the train and stop it.
@sleightofhand: Yep, exactly what I'm talking about. Could you put in some scans? Right now I don't have access to most of my comic collection...
