I don't really understand why the X-Men movies doing well for Fox is something that would bother Marvel. For one, they sold the rights to begin with. Two, successful movies in theory help the books to sell. It seems like a good business deal for both parties.

Marvel uses basic marketing strategy in order to conserve resources and boost profit.....oh no!

Sigh, there just using a loophole so that they have leverage should Fox want to renew the Movie deal.

Its pointless. Marvel already has hundreds of mutants and Fox can use anyone of them.

I'm actually glad. Maybe they will focus on developing some of the characters they already have.

I guess Aaron, Latour, and Bendis didnt get this memo huh. We have characters like Nature Girl, Snotboy, Morph, Goldballs, Triage, Sharkgirl and Sprite out there so I'm not entirely sure this is completely accurate.

And geez what kind of deal did they sign, where all the characters even newly created ones are not Marvel's. Sounds like bad business to me.

Aw naw, HELL NAW! Thor, Captain America, and Wolverine have been getting some of Marvel's undivided "focus" and look what happened to them!:(

@hopesummersforthefuture:

Because fox is under no obligation to sell the rights back.

Marvel/Disney could offer up their entire net worth and fox would still have the right to say "no thanks"

The sad thing is that it's not like they don't see a profit from the movies. Disney just doesn't like to compete against its own money so they're playing hardball.

Nope, Fox own the characters create for the movies (if they exist) and Marvel want own all mutant characters because as Fox than Marvel earn by the characters they own.

They tried, but Fox simply refused to sell it to them.

As expected, and I called it earlier. Business is business. This is DISNEY, not Marvel we're talking about. And they don't give a crap about shutting down the entire X-franchise if it's good for business.

Working together would be more profitable for both. Little people and their ego's and insecurities are the downfall of many great things

Although, I am currently satisfied with how Storm is going now. And it's a relief to see those 3 out of the picture... even though we know they will be back

Yes. I am much happier now Thor is a woman, Cap is black, and Wolverine isn't the poster child of the X-men anymore. Plus it adds to better diversity for Marvel-- which can be lacked at times.

Marvel's loss, Fox still has lots of characters and they were not the one making money from the merch.

I don't get this. Can't Marvel still make money off of X-Men even if Fox is making profits from the movies? It's kind of a all time low for Disney/Marvel if they are trying to prevent other companies from making profits off of their franchises.

I agree with this.

But I also thought Marvel doesn't seem to care about any of the new characters. So many that they had forgotten about them. I want Surge back and all of the students from All New XM.

Funny, I imagine this is what Disney canceling the Fantastic Four went like.
