Cancelling their biggest line of books would be a huge mistake, if this rumor was true. They might as well just close up shop and tell their readers to go read DC and Image.

I don't believe it. The x men are still way to popular. But suppose it's true, the that means 90% less marvel books for me...

Ive been hearing this rumor. Supposedly it will happen by next summer and there will be a huge reboot at Marvel and the Xmen wont be coming back. I guess it would just be the Avengers and Inhumans running things. I really cant see this as plausible even considering the obvious Avenger-centric vibe at Marvel. The Xmen still make them alot of money I would think. On the flipside if they really are looking to oust the Xmen, it might make sense to just roll the x-characters over into the Inhumans/Nuhumans. That would be an easy explanation as to the origins of mutation and would save the floudering Inhumans book. Along the same lines I would guess the Xmen could be rolled over into the Avengers. Perhaps they would be the new Uncanny Avengers or Astonishing Avengers focusing on mutant related issues. As yet another option, if this happens to be true, hopefully Image or IDW grabs it and sets the Xmen in their own universe. Again just speculating but I really cant see this happening

CBR people have been freaking out over this. It's been hilarious seeing more people role with the troll on this, and people believing it than people saying it won't happen, but also sad in a way.

@oldnightcrawler: of course i've heard of age of apocalypse, I just didn't realise it had to do with that. See, I was like 2 years old in '95, and Ive only been reading comics for the last 2 years(I know, late starter ^^). Didn't come around reading aoa(or anything from the nineties for that matter) yet :)

right. well the thing that they did to make AoA seem like a big deal was an ad campaign about how Xavier never existed and the X-men never happened; all of the X-men titles were canceled and replaced with AoA versions of the same books depicting what the characters would have been doing in a world without Xavier.

it was such a relentless campaign that it would have been pretty easy to assume that they were serious about totally relaunching the X-books, except that every other book that took place in the MU was totally unaffected, despite taking place in the same world, meaning that there had to be a status quo world for the X-men to return to. Still, pretty decent premise.

Yeah, this would be the worse time for Marvel to cancel X-Men. Think of how many people are getting into the comics because of this huge stream of movies they've done, or have planned. They'd be foolish to throw away that opportunity.

But if they really are that stupid, I won't leave my room for a year. I will waste all my money on every X-Men comic book and variants of every comic book I can find on eBay and fill my room with them. Then I will sit in the piles of books and sob silently over how much I miss Scott Summers...

This is fake... The source is not credible, the idea seems too far-fetched, and act would be detrimental to Marvel as a company... It's fake.

X-Men is a cash cow for Marvel, they're not going to cancel the books.

I hope it isn't true, Marvel owes the X-men big time. They are not the red-headed stepchildren of Marvel, anything but, the X-men brought superhero movies into the fold. They were the first big superheroes of the millenium, not Spiderman like revisionist history seems to suggest, they were a big deal in the 90's (whereas other franchises weren't) and they remain one. The whole premise of civil rights and forward-thinking Marvel loves to claim to be in synch with 100% of the time, was LARGELY subsidized by the X-men and their iconic status. If they turned their backs on the X-men, which they probably won't, karma will eat them alive like a famished snake.
