So this is Gal's Wonder Woman that has recently been released at SDCC.

Then here's a pic of what people call as there ideal WW no offense to Lynda or his fans. (But notice the size)

Then you have both Lynda and Gal at 5'9 when it comes to height.

Next point depictions.

Whether it be animation, comic, or game Wonder Woman isn't as big as people are making her out to be there our depictions of her a lot at that, that show her where Gadot is muscular or around that. How beefed up do you people want Diana?

It's a combination of fanboys being fanboys, people who have never even picked up a comic book, and people that like to spread hate because they don't like to see DC succeed. But at the end of the day, they're the minority.

#3 Posted by Justthatkid (4989 posts) - - Show Bio

@mrtummytumms: Id hope their a minority because the people complaining tend to appear very loudly in expressing their viewpoints which don't make sense. I watch reviews on the released picture and hear people saying things that don't make sense and it gets people behind them that don't know better. Like the AMC review where is stated "she was still to skinny but she looks great" only the later half of that statement bein true I wish people who knew what there saying would be the ones who comment..

Because the WW fanbase (at least on this site) is one of the most obnoxious. They rival DBZ and Storm fans.

Every single day there is a new thread on the WW bitching about something. Between a bunch of male nerds arguing over feminism or WW not having enough strength feats or whatever - its endless.

She looks great. Anyone who isn't an idiot and knew anything about superhero roles - which requires EVERY actor or actress to undergo physical training - knew she would look fine.

Its always been about the acting, which is still a legitimate concern. At this point however, whats done is done and everyone who isn't a hater is hoping she knocks it out of the park.

/end thread.

She isn't too skinny to be wonder women, she is just kind of skinny in general. She just needs to thicken those thighs a little bit ;)

#9 Posted by RustyRoy (14476 posts) - - Show Bio

She's looks great, its her acting I'm worried about.

#10 Posted by TheCheeseStabber (8062 posts) - - Show Bio

Also she reduced her role in the movie so she could buff up more so its not like thats how'll she'll look which is fine to me. But everyone ignores the first part :_;

I'm sure that based on Ben and Henry and practicing lines probably next to them that she did fine, otherwise I wouldn't see why she was casted. I'm sure she'll be fine and plan on leaving my opinion on her as Diana when I see the film. The to thin complaint is silly and I hope I don't have to see people bringing that up anymore..

#12 Posted by danhimself (22736 posts) - - Show Bio

yeah I don't see it either....I think she looks fantastic plus Wonder Woman has never been depicted as having a body builder type of body anyway.....plus her powers are magical it's not like she has to be super ripped to be super strong

in this one she look bigger

Wonder Woman Pre 52 is six feet tall.

Her wikia states she was 6ft pre52, Wonder Gal is 5'9 (not taking into consideration her boots) not big of a difference when Bale was 6ft 2 inches smaller then Bruce, Batfleck is 6'4 2 inches taller then Bruce, and Cav-El is 6'1 3 inches smaller then Superman. The comic con pics suggest she's around Cavil's height.

I don't know, Snyder has casted some great actors but he also casted some bad/average actors, almost every casting director at some point has done that.

in this one she look bigger

Ben looks bigger than Cavil.

@rustyroy: Still it should be waited to see how she does.

Ben is taller he's 6'4, Cavil is 6'1 I'm hoping they do something about that.

Time change things.

People hear powerfull woman and dont see the model looking females.

They see the MMA women.

Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey.

Also amazon that fights and is as hardcore as the men in the team.

Sound more like those two that models.

Thats why Wodner Woman looks like Xena in that costume and uses an armour.

Even when she needs an armour less that Batman, who is pretty much using spandex.

The armour is to sell you the idea she is a warrior and strong.

The other 2 dont need an armour to sell that image.

She does not look like a warrior if you take the armour away.

#26 Posted by joshmightbe (24816 posts) - - Show Bio

@justthatkid: Its because people like to pick on people and since you get yelled at for making fun of fat people, people have redirected all the s**t talk to skinny people because they think that somehow makes it ok.

@deathpoolthet1000: Cavil and Affleck don't look like warriors.. I'm guessing the Armour is given based on her connection to Greek mythos..

So they are big for no reason?.

Look at their faces, look at their chins and look at their bodies.

I said warriors, not savages.

Sorry, but that armour looks nothing like the Greek armours.

She's not way too skinny, but she is still skinny. Cavill actually bulked up, he's a beast now. She looks like a regular woman.

#31 Posted by modernww2fare (2102 posts) - - Show Bio

Nothing against Gal, but Gina Carano looks much more like an Amazon.

#32 Posted by Agent008 (61 posts) - - Show Bio

On the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, maybe some people call her the ideal Wonder Woman, but I think more consider the TV version to be iconic based on the pop-culture impact it had. I see sometiems Reeves as the iconic Superman but I definitely don't want a rerun of that like with Routh's Superman.

The video game picture has DC characters looking different from their comic counterparts. I've never seen Flash with all that heavy metal armor on him before. How does he run with it?

It's interesting that out of all the pictures posted, nothing from Adam Hughes.

Comic book fans are overly entitled idiots basically. They think they are more important to the success of a movie than they actually are, they see their fan-casting as superior to the casting done by actual professionals, and they only care about their personal vision of a character, not reality.

They're not idiots. They just want to see a good movie, which is usually their interpretation. Almost every film that's adapted from something else is criticized by fans of the source material. People complained about the casting for Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. And sometimes the casting done by professionals is pretty bad. For example Jack Black in the King Kong remake.

Because casting choice are made under one idea.

Sell the movie.

That is why you get the same actors, dont matter how bad can be.

Also all directors and studios do the movie adaptations on their vision.

Its the exact Same Thing With Race Changes in Movie Casting.

Just that is cool to attack or defend those.

How is Gal Gadot being called skinny?

Well we open our mouths and pronounce the words "Gal Gadot is skinny"

I love how she looks, personally. Cliff Chiang's WW is still my favorite depiction, but this is pretty solid for a cinematic WW.

You have to open your mouth to type something on the internet.. That's a bit strange..

Keep in mind that Women and Men both have different body shapes and tones comparing her to them is kinda pointless unless for some reason you want her to have a build similar to them, with no hips, or biceps instead of boobs...?

The interpretations shown in the OP show that her body tone is fine..

because the people who are fine with it keep quiet. It is what it is, she's been casted already, nothing anyone can do lol. I personally don't like the choice my self but it isnt a deal breaker for me

Ironically in the end I think the whiny little sh*ts in this place are - you. I know what I complain about and why, I can articulate my opinion, why I think something's wrong and should be rectified whereas some people just drop by once a week to throw the kitchen sink and leave to go do something else. Obviously unhappy customers are a symptom that dc's doing something wrong but it's so much easier to blame the hoi polloi than to challenge powerful institutions.
