Dynamite is honored to announce that Warren Ellis, one of the greatest and most respected comic book writers in comics, will be working with Dynamite for the very first time! Warren Ellis plans to take control of the Project Superpowers universe in late 2014, as Dynamite Entertainment continues to celebrate its 10th Anniversary.
"I've long been fascinated by the period in comics that produced these characters, and I'm very much looking forward to working out the strange, atmospheric take on the weird thriller that they inspired. Also, it's going to be a pleasure to finally do a job through the good offices of my old friend Nick Barrucci." - Warren Ellis
"I've wanted to work with Warren for many years, and have approached him more than a few times," says Dynamite CEO / Publisher Nick Barrucci, "I can honestly say that when his schedule allowed for us to work together, I was speechless. We've been waiting for the right creative vision to bring back Dynamite's Superpowers Universe, and I can't think of anyone better than Warren to do so. I was elated that both came together. He will make this series his own and will bring a larger audience to Dynamite's Super Powers universe. This is truly an honor to be working with him, as Warren elevates Dynamite to a new level."
"Warren is truly a visionary storyteller and he's been given carte blanche to reimagine these characters and this world," adds Dynamite Senior Editor Joe Rybandt. "The results will appeal to his existing fans for sure, but the world he is creating is accessible to all from the start."
Warren Ellis to Relaunch Dynamite's Superpowers Universe

Whoa...this could be awesome. I read Project Superpowers back when it launched. Enjoyed a lot of the characters but felt the story was lacking. Having Warren Ellis on board could certainly rectify that.

The guy with the crossbones looks too cool!
That would be Black Terror! :)
Is it really so hard for non Marvel and DC companies to make good heroes?
No? There are plenty of good heroes by various of publishers?
BB
eh, superheroes (so no Walking Dead) Hellboy and Spawn are the only non Marvel or DC owned characters i can think of that don't suck. Invincibles ok. Most non Marvel or DC characters are mediocre attempts to show all good idea for heroes are used which is why Marvel and DC characters can last so long and most non Marvel and DC characters can't.
one thing to remembered these characters, Black Terror and Daredevil, were originally golden age characters from the 1940's. Both of which have been released under various non Marvel or DC titles over the years.
@thewalkingdeadpool18: Superheroes are the Big Two's bread and butter. On top of that they've been at it for the better part of a century so it makes sense that they'd be the best at it. But that's not to downplay other companies superhero books. Captain Marvel out sold Superman in his heyday. The cast of Charlton characters were also very popular. Nowadays Valiant's line of books have a strong following. I just read Paul Pope's Battling Boy, which was a great all ages superhero comic. Even these revamped golden age characters in Project Superpowers are pretty great. Give em a chance, you may dig em.
I'm sure i'm just being ignorant but concept and costume wise the characters seem to suck i still think generally speaking Marvel and DC used all the good idea for superheroes and or sued/bought them (DC) i'm sure the stories for these may be amazing and maybe because of the personalities and interactions with other characters the characters are good but concept and origin wise non Marve/DC heroes don't have great origins or concepts. The ones that do DC sues for the rights ot buys the company/property. I would love a universe with Spawn,Ghost Rider,Blade, and Hellboy eventually leading to a team. That would be an awesome universe.
