Spoiler: The Identity of Thor is Revealed

Since the start of the new THOR series, by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman, everyone has been wondering who became Thor after Odinson became unworthy to hold Mjolnir. In an interview with New York Times, writer Jason Aaron revealed all.

So who is behind the mask? One time girlfriend Dr Jane Foster. Aaron discussed the character in the interview.

“Jane Foster has been part of the Thor comics and the Thor mythology from almost the very beginning...The very act of picking up this hammer, of becoming Thor, is killing her. Where we go from here is the real story.”

Most of the new readers seem to be women and young girls, which is great... You’re seeing more and more comics that appeal to that audience... Usually when I say I write comics for a living, I kind of get blank stares... Now, when I say I write Thor, they say, ‘You’re the lady Thor guy?’ Yup. That’s me.”

Looking forward to reading the whole thing. I like where this story arc has been going and how it's been developed.

Plus the fact that she's still dying adds a nice twist and a tease of inherent tragedy to her time as Thor.

Also why are people saying she's gonna die? She's a member of the post-Secret War Avengers team. We'll probably have to guess the identity of the new Iron Man. Marvel, get another trick

Really really stupid, you even had her directly refuse magic when Thor offered to take her to Asgard and have their mages cure her,cancer. So to have her so no to that but then use a FRAKING Magic hammer to fight crime is really really fucking stupid...really stupid.

Every bit of that monologue describes the real Thor... I fail to see where he falls short.

I've had time to process this, and I feel the same as I did previously. Which is to say, better Jane than Roz.

I'm hoping there will be a logical explanation for the Mjolnir killing her (or making her cancer worse). Also, it would seem the whisper has to do with her and her health predicament at the moment. Which I would want to be proven wrong because that would really, really suck.

Still, the art is beautiful. I hope Aaron is responsible with his take on cancer. It's really touchy, especially when taking into consideration the cancer started out as breast which is a huge real life problem.

I would have still preferred Freyja.

She was on Asgard since she joined the Council of Worlds whenever it was floating right by the moon when all the Asgardians were watching Thor try to lift it. She could have been with them and no one noticed her stay behind. That's why I always contended it was Jane the whole time although I thought they completely tipped their hand last issue that it was Roz when they showed her car floating above Roxxon.

Wait do you believe this story can translate to live action? It's very flawed in comics!? Pick Mjolnir and becomes Thor? Thor Dark World was what it was (compliments from Jane and Darcy), but this story would take foolishness in the MCU to another level, and as proven in several comics the MCU has direct influence in the current MU, not the other way around...

It's shame really - Thor is one of my favourite characters and Jason Aaron is one of my favourite writers, but I can't get into this series at all. I couldn't have cared less who the new Thor was. I only care about one "Thor" and it's not this one.

So he basically admits that these first eight issues have been pointless.

And the dialogue there is dumb because Thor has learned humility before and knows how precious human life is. She's worthy because she's a mortal, which makes no sense.

"The world needs a Thor" yet nothing even happened to the real thor. There isn't "a", Thor is Thor, worthy of the hammer or not, and he still protects earth.

But I always knew that it would be Jane, so I ain't mad at this.

Anyway, I guess his loss of worthiness is him "failing" in one (?) of these subscription she specifies, cause she knows better...

Also, you'd think that Mjolnir would have healed here, but plots must go on.

Tricky writing, as Asgard reader can you understand how this plot fits Asgard and Thor? I really can't...
