IMO, if enough readers stop buying the female Thor run, it'll plummet in sales and then send a message to Marvel.
Boycott female Thor
......no.
Yes.
Well if it's a good book people will buy it, I do think though, they are going to start out with a smaller base once the curiosity wears off. There will be plenty of people who will be loyal to Odinson and I don't think they'll be replaced completely by new Thor fans.
I do think he'll be back, if only because Disney is likely to keep him around in films long after the Avengers trilogy wraps up.
I'm not trying to accuse you of anything, but "Boycott Female Thor" comes across as kind of sexist.
"Boycott The New Thor" might be a little safer. :)
@wardishy: But yes, people deserve too. Rather than 'accept' these changes, if fans do not like changes (which have been unncessarily happening lately, e.g. Falcon Captain America, Black Wally West, etc) then they have every right to complain.

Nope.
Yup, never gonna read any Marvel comics again until old Thor is back and she-whore is ***** ***** *****.
@vitalius: her name is Angela and she's thors sister...
or am I completely wrong? Why would they just get rid of Thor?
@frozen: I'm not buying it either mate for many reason. But encouraging a boycott isn't going to attract the right attention. The female comic market is growing and they can be very pushy in their demands. That's probably why the new female Thor is introduced. Plus, there's a lot of PR and attention on this move and it's only been a couple days since its announcement. On my blog, someone told me that their local radio show was covering this comic book announcement. If it's reaching local news level, it's going to be a big move. And people boycotted Superior Spider-Man too yet those sales never dropped below 70,000.
@lvenger: Did I just see you admit Superior sold decently!? O_o
Thor is a woman.
Cap is black.
Lvenger indirectly said something semi-positive about Superior Spider-Man.
The 3 signs of the apocalypse. Our days are numbered, folks.
He didn't praise Superior Spider-Man he stated a fact.
Bad things make money all the time. Doesn't mean they're not terrible.
@fallschirmjager: How's overreacting to passive joke comments working for you?
@fallschirmjager: How's overreacting to passive joke comments working for you?
lol. Point out where in my post there is overreaction. I made a simple comment.
How's being incredibly sensitive on the internet working out for you?
@fallschirmjager: Well the fact that you misinterpreted my post as implying that Lvenger sang praise about Superior is quite telling.
I'm not a mirror, bud.

Perhaps if you were more witty than you think you are, we wouldn't be in this situation.
@fallschirmjager: That's cute. Meaningless, but cute.
Go white-knight somewhere else.
LOL @ this thread. Let's do remember that these are fictional characters we're dealing with here.
I think people have every right to boycott something considering how much damn pandering both DC and Marvel are doing.
Marvel/DC have been screwing over mainstream heroes lately but at te level of Thor or Superman I can't support. Thor is my favorite and first marvel comic I read.
This is utter foolishness and I doubt it will last long, which is the only satisfaction I'm getting right now. I guess Wolverine or Stark are next in the line of getting screwed over.
Ugh come on guys, wait for the comic to actually come out before boycotting it. Seriously. You sound racist and sexist, whether you admit it or not. Give it a shot before blasting it.
so much judgement over a book that you haven't even read yet and have only minor details about....you people are exactly what people are talking about when they make fun of comic book readers

@danhimself: I wish you people would stop "you peopling" us people!

It's a bad idea and already has critical flaws within it already. That is ground enough for criticism and scepticism already.

critical flaws? all you know is that Thor becomes unworthy and that an unknown character who he's saved at some point in his life picks up the hammer and becomes the new "Thor" and that Thor will continue on without the hammer using his ax....that's all we know

I've made my case clear in the official news thread and my own blog so forgive me for not elaborating on my full reasoning. But I can assure you there's just as good reason to dislike this idea as there is apparent reason for people to jump in support of this PR move. There are valid reasons of disliking this move and people cannot hide behind equality or the female demographic to justify it. I'm getting sick and tired of Marvel for their stubborn defense of this move.
......no.
Yes.
Still no,but whatever
People can boycott what they like--just like I have the right to say people are being overly dramatic to a series they have yet to read.
This is just another publicity stunt where an established character's race, gender or sexual preference (in this case it's gender) is changed to generate some media buzz and supposedly attract new readers.
Here is what's going to happen:
- The first few issues will sell well and Marvel will declare the idea a success.
- Sales will then plummet as the novelty wears off and most readers/buyers stop buying the series.
- "Thor" will then revert to his true male self again and some fans will return to the character.
- Some longtime Thor fans will still feel alienated due to the tampering with their favorite character and never return.
- Thor will eventually be used in yet another publicity stunt to generate media buzz despite the possible harm to the character and alienation of core fans.
I'm not joining in the disrespect, misuse and abuse of one of the greatest Marvel character ever.
I won't be buying the female Thor. I'm boycotting.
Ugh come on guys, wait for the comic to actually come out before boycotting it. Seriously. You sound racist and sexist, whether you admit it or not. Give it a shot before blasting it.
I'm ''racist'' and ''sexist'' - ha. Enlighten me - complaining that my favourite characters are being unnecessarily changed for the sake of being diverse (and not achieving true diversity) is neither racist nor sexist, if you believe that then you have little understanding of racism or sexism.
Take a read of Wally West in the New-52 and it stinks of black steryotypes.
Opposing unnecessary, lazy and unsinpired changes are neither racist nor sexist. I don't have to succumb to Marvel and DC's changes and agree with their changes because they're ''promoting diversity'' - whereas in reality, they're not. It's pandering, I want to see real diversity in DC/Marvel, Kamala Khan is atleast a good representation of diversity. Not with the changes to Wally or Thor.
These claims are entertainined by Tumblr warriors.

this sounds like what a lot of people said about Superior Spider-man
IMO, if enough readers stop buying the female Thor run, it'll plummet in sales and then send a message to Marvel.
How about actually reading it and see how its presented and if the story is told well before throwing a hissy fit about boycotting it?
Yea, cause its not like Thor has ever been replaced before by another character using his name except for you know when Red Norvell did it, and when Beta Ray Bill did it, or when Eric Masterson did it, or when Dargo Ktor did it, or when even f**king Hercules did it for an arc. Didn't see anyone throwing a huge bitch fit and a boycott those times, gee I wonder what's different about this?
Look am I HAPPY about this change? No, I'm just not mad about it. Here's the deal: Marvel Comics has long borrowed Norse mythology for many of its beloved characters and plots. That's free intellectual property, after all. But the comics are only inspired by Norse mythology, and they've almost never followed the stories line-for-line(And even if they did, mythology suffers from a massive case of The Telephone Game, with lots of different tellings evolving over the years).
The Asgardians have died and been reborn at least a couple times we know of(The last versions before the current ones being a LOT closer the actual Norse myths), so I have the theory that this "new" female Thor is actually a past version of Thor from a previous Ragnarok.
If it's good, then fine she'll just get another hammer and get her own series alongside Thor when he comes back. No big deal

That's a bit different isn't it? They turned a beloved character changed him black then it was put out where he's not acting like himself and was turned into a delinquent. Fem-Thor isn't Thor she is her own character we get to see here journey into mystery (wink wink) along with Thor as he's proven unworthy of the hammer. Going on a rage mission before even seeing a single panel is pointless cause you're essentially damning something that could be awesome.
@joshmightbe: That's my point as well.

Pretty much what Fear the Living said, seeing as it isn't out yet, blasting it right off that bat makes you look sexist and it's just plain illogical.
@feartheliving: As much as I agree with your overall point, saying "Fem-Thor isn't Thor" is complete BS, as Marvel has made it really clear that this is THE Thor. She's only called Thor, and will only be referred to as Thor.
"Series writer Jason Aaron emphasizes, “This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before."
