Who is more powerful? The Spectre or Superman?

I think the Spectre would be more powerful due to him being enpowered by the Supreme being of the DCU. But Superman gets treated like the most powerful. So who is more powerful?

The Spectre is more powerful by a mile,he is nearly omnipotent. Lets say that he is the Galactus of the dc comics.

Not even in Pre Crisis times could Superman hurt the Spectre. He stopped Superman from nearly destroying the Multiverse and he didn't even budge

The Specter is a cosmic force with no known weaknesses, while Superman sometimes can hardly handle an enemy that uses unnatural forces like magic and other stuff. And if kryptonite is used... game over.

It depends. From what I remember the Specter is the Wrath of God incarnate, but he is limited to how much his host allows him to do.

Hal was one of the weakest Specters because his morality differed from Jim Corrigan's.

But Usually the Specter is practically nigh-omnipotent.

Far below. The Spectre is way out of almost any powerhouse's league. It doesn't matter how fast or strong they are.

Yea superman didn't destroy the rock of eternity, kept two universe apart with strength alone, Makes 5th dimensional imps his play things or can go toe to toe with michael demiurgos. Of course the spectre is stronger by far.

On a related note, Ostrander's first run on the Spectre (the depowered ghost of vengeance incarnation) is my favorite version of the character. Omnipotent beings aren't really that interesting.

Superman prime one million might be a more interesting comparison but even then I think the spectre is still more powerful

@batman1130: SP1mil may be powerful but he doesn't have any feats compared to Spectre . The only version of Superman that could beat or atleast stalemate would be ThoughtRobot . The other version dies in a horrible death

Even if you took all the Supermen of the Multiverse (with the exception of the huge one from the end of Final Crisis) they wouldn't even register as a threat to the Spectre.

Superman is a very powerful hero (sometimes the most powerful on Earth).

The Spectre is an unstoppable multiversal force when not nerfed by the Presence (another word for plot in this case).

In the 90s run of The Spectre and possessed Superman goes after the Spectre with the Spear Of Destiny on hand. Needless to say, Spectre did not have a nice day. I don't recall well, but I think Superman hurt him really really bad.

But yeah, Spectre is the hand of God powerful.

Superman, as powerful as he is, is a living organic creature with limitations. Spectre is not even in the same league. He's more of an abstract entity that's only limited by a host.

By this same logic Captain America is as powerful as Thor, or perhaps Galactus because of the respect and reception he gets? People respect Superman,Captain America, Batman, etc and they are leaders and mascots or flagship characters but the Spectre isn't even dancing on the same floor with them.
