Basically what I'm asking is what version of Superman you came to know and love. Whether it is comics, television or movies.
What incarnation of Superman did you grew up with?
I grew up with a plethora of versions. I remember my first Superman experiences were an issue from the return of Superman(I couldn't even read, I just looked at the pictures), the Reeve movie, the JL cartoons when I got older.
And my first Superman comic, that I officially (I guess) bought to read about Superman was Birthright.
DCAU Superman for me as well. Though I did watch some of the much older short Superman cartoons before then. Not Superfriends, but something else that I don't even know the name of.
For me, it was reruns of George Reeves' Superman, followed by Christopher Reeve Superman and Super Friends. Then it was Lois and Clark:The New Adventures of Superman, S:TAS, JL, JLU, and Smallville. Interspersed throughout all that were various comic books that I read, and video games that I played. The two biggest Superman games that I played at the time were Superman for the NES, and The Death and Return of Superman on the SNES. The two biggest comics for me were Morrison's All Star, and Millar's Red Son.
Now, I've read all the important stories, seen all the movies, and can't wait until someone somewhere (Rocksteady) makes a great current gen Superman game around the same quality as the Arkham games. Superman is the most iconic superhero of them all, and to this day, he is still my second favorite superhero, besting the likes of Spiderman, Invincible, Black Panther, and many others.
Can't wait for Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice to get more of my two most favorite fictional heroes.
Christopher Reeve as Superman with that amazing score. The animated series and Justice League. Made me fall in love with the character.
My first ever exposure to Superman was actually the 1940's Fleischer cartoon. I'm not sure why such an old tv show was being rerun in the 90's but there you go
^^^
I grew up with the JL Cartoon Superman.
Tho the my first exposure to him was the 40's ( or was it 50's? ) cartoon, it was broadcasted during late 90's & early 00's in my country.
Justice League cartoon and a bit of Superman: TAS. Later it was Smallville (but I don't really count that.)
I didn't know what a comic was till I was 13, but I didn't read a Superman comic(or many comics in general) till I was 17. I remember watching a few episodes of TAS as a kid but they never hooked me in. I started watching Smallville in my pre teens and enjoyed it but when I moved to Mexico I stopped. In Mexico I saw a few episodes of TAS and only really enjoyed the comedic ones (Lobo's being my favorite). I also watched more Smallille episodes over there when I got cable. But I really didn't get into Superman t'ill the New 52 hit. That Action Comic cover made me pick it up and Morrison's work won me over.
I was going to say none, but then I remembered the Dean Cain TV show so I guess it was that.
I watched that show as a kid and it entertained me, but tbh I didn't really start to like Superman much until after I watched Smallville.
I was first introduced to Superman through the Christopher Reeve movies.
Later I only started to read Superman comics in 1993. And been reading it ever since. Sometimes on and off, but mainly on.
Well, I discovered Superman’s existence thanks to Superman The Movie; then I followed Superman 1988 animation and Lois and Clark. After that time is came for S TAS and comics and eventually, here I am.
