Depends on the era and the writers. In the New 52 he flew from Pluto to Earth in less than a minute. That's 200 times faster than light.

Superman 2 movie...Supes gets pinned and Ko'd by a Bus, pushed at him by the kryptonians! WTF?!

Superman 3 movie... the super computer somehow manages to "swallow" supes before he unleashes the all conquering acid to save the day...bad times for Superman!
