Has it been done before? I'm just curious, but there's a little more to it.

If Superman were ever without his powers, is their anything in the Fortress of Solitude that would allow him to still fight evil/save people? Specifically, like a number of armaments or some sort of power suit/armor?

@scouterv: He should have something, but he wouldn't be Superman without his powers.

Yes. he became the batman like Nova in a imaginary story when he lost his powers, Superman/Batman Annual he puts on a similar suit as Supernova while depowered, and he lost his powers during One Year Later and retired as Superman.

There's also this but I'm not sure where's from:

If he lost his powers he could just get a power ring.

I don't think that the powers are what make him Superman. They're part of it, but I think he could be Superman without his power.

I agree.

I would personally love to read a story like this well done.

Up Up and Away has Clark fighting the Intergang through his articles in the planet, so yes he wouldn't stop fighting injustice with or without powers.
He got a green lantern ring multiple times in the past and with the kryptonian tech and his incredible mind he certaintly could be a hero.

Actually its been done to many times in the past.

First it was when Lex Luthor used a altered type of kriptonite, a red kriptonite stone and superman lost his powers for a short period of time.

After the sun eater events he also lost his powers for some reason that I honestly don't remember.

When they introduced gold/yellow kriptonite at first they created the danger of being exposed just once would remove his powers permantely, but later versions only removed his powers has long has he was exposed, but if he stoped being exposed after a few seconds his powers would return.

He also lost his powers after the events on Infinite Crisis, although it was hinted that he hadn't really lost them, but subconsciously disable them because he was fed up and traumatized by the deaths that occured.

In the New 52 nothing has happened so far that would make him lose his powers, even traveling back in time to Krypton didn't remove his powers.

Superman has shown in different versions that he can defend himself even without his powers but he has never shown any kind of tech that could replace his powers.

And that Supernova thing, wasn't Supernova a future version of Booster Gold?

Ah, I see. I wasn't aware of the Infinite Crisis thing that happened. Never even heard of it, but it sounds interesting.

I'm actually really curious. Aside from the time Mongul broke in on his Birthday, and knocked Wonder Woman into what appeared to be the armory, I've never seen much in the way of weaponry in the Fortress. I was curious to what he would pack in an armory.

Does Superman often leave Earth in the New 52?

@scouterv:

In the New 52, he has said that he has traveled to the heart of the sun multiple times.

The alien tech and the alien zoo, that he has on the fortress, sugests that he spends almost has much time in space has he does on Earth.

In the crossover with Red Hood and the Outlaws, superman went to talk with starfire. And it was the first time I saw him being faster than light. Although in the comic they said starfire ship was orbiting Pluto, judging by the size of the sun I would say that they were somewhere between Mercury and Venus. Two things happened that were revealing. The first one, was that superman seems to be able to project his voice. The second one, was when they teleported from the ship to Earth (leaving superman behind), and just mere seconds after they arrived superman was already there. Seeing how fast light travels, that was definitly faster than light.

And now with the Doomed stories, he has left Earth permanently after seeing that he no longer could control the nul-field that his doomsday dna creates. In fact in one of the most recent stories, he and supergirl traveled by themselves, without her using her red lantern ring, to what she said was the other side of the galaxy.

One thing that they should explain (again), is how we see kriptonians talk to each other and other people, in the vaccum of space. In the pre-flashpoint version when superman taught supergirl how to speek in the vaccum of space, he said that one of their powers was the ability to vibrate their vocal cords at different frequencies, enabling them to speak in space. But for this version DC it hasn't of yet given any explanation.
