New Costume Yay or Nay?

New haircut - definitely nay; idk about costume (it's temporary anyway).

The haircut is horrible.

The costume, I hope, I really hope it's only cause of the story where his identity is revealed, because if not, JRJR's new costume is pointless, and even without that, this costume is pretty lame, works for early superman, not for this one.

This is not even a costume it is jeans and a T-Shirt. Hate it.

He should be naked if he takes a fire attack or an explosion of some kind.

At least with his Suit they had some explanation with that an all.

I hope they do not take the Hulk route where his clothes can survive almost anything.

is this the NEW costume that they were talking about. After that issue where he destroyed his suit with his new power, they hinted he would get a new one. Is this the action comics new costume or the futures end new costume

It also works in situations when his main costume is destroyed or unavailable. Perhaps Superman keeps destroying his costumes since he can’t control his solar-flare and he run out of spares – also singed his own hair (sounds stupid, I know). Anyway, in JL Fabok promised to draw JRJR’ costume, so I’m sure everything will resolve quickly.

@sanohibiki: And if it does last for a while, at least we can know that JL & JLA will keep the 2 current SM & WW costumes for a while :3

I'm all for it and supes is getting drawn and looks like a tak which is good because if you can move a mountain then you should look like you can move a mountain.

Nope, I could see it working in just Action Comics trying to connect with people but not as a full time costume, also Supes should fire his barber.

My View on this:

I love Jeans and T-shirt Superman. Morrison's ideas made him an instant favorite of mine. The jeans make his more human, more approachable and work perfect for down to earth stories, he feels like the original social crusader.

The Emblem. It is clearly inspired by the Fleischer cartoons, that I simply adore. And it just works with this look. I especially like how they didn't even change the yellow line.

What dissappoints me. The lack of cape and the adding of fist covers made from Superman's cape. Just like the haircut and the five 0 clork shadow we saw on the second cover featuring the new suit, give clearly the impression of a darker Superman. Also the lack and add of those make him look more like mature Superboy rather than Superman.

GIVE US BACK THE S CURL! Its more iconic and make Superman's face more distinguised than any haircut and beard.

Wholeheartedly nay. The new costume was looking pretty good too but noo, we have to change it immediately for Superman: The Thug Life edition.

I'm undecided on this one. I hate the hair, and even though I do love the Jeans look, this is sort of a weird version of it. Also, why the bloody knuckles? I'm hoping it's temporary and it has something to do with the story

Agreed. I loved his shaggy hair. I was hoping he'd keep it even post Beard.

It's not exactly a costume is it? It's just clothes, there's no sense of super-heroism.

And yet he doesn't look as bad as Ed McGuinness Superman

McGuinness art was cartoony. Siaf is supposedely anatomical...

I'm all for cartoony. I really liked the Amanda Connor cover for Harley Quinn month, but Ed McGuinenness was an eyesore. Also his Superman was Asian for some reason. I can't defend this new look, but this muscle size is way better than Ed's Roidman

I would take Ed's any day of the week. And with the light fun tone, Ed's art was a perfect fit. As for the eyes. Ed was going for the squinky eyed GA version for his face.

But yes I wouldn't take him for a serious story or a crossover which requires the art to look alike.

That looks so wrong like both Clark and Bruce had a mid life crisis at the same time.

I just hate the hair, the outfit is fine...

Superman looks like a King of Fighters playable character now. I think he'll look bizarre in the Justice League with everyone wearing spandex but him. He doesn't look right standing next to Wonder Woman. It's not that he looks bad, it just doesn't seem adequate.

@foamborn: proly but we don't know if he'll carry this look in Geoff John JL for now he has his armor look in that book and I'm guessing the JLA book as well.

Yeah. The hair. It's a no on the hair. Unless it's part of the story line, which I am hoping it is.

I actually like the new look (yes even the haircut) but I feel it is incomplete without the cape. With it gone, he does not look as awe-inspiring as he should.

In general the look is all wrong.

The haircut its the least of it, the simple fact that Superman looks so young, it's like looking at a total reboot of the DCU.

They might has well start calling it the Newest-52 :-P
