1. He'd have to track it all down

2. Batman wouldn't let him destroy a 100% of it

3. Superman would want a little bit to be kept in bruce's hands

The simpler answer... Writers would never allow such a thing. Without kryptonite Lex, Bruce and all the others would stand zero chances against Superman.

So kryptonite will always exist. For example, at the beginning of the New 52 there were only like 8 or less small shards of kryptonite, and now there's tons of it.

For a element that supposedly is so exotic that only existed on Krypton, humans seem to be able to synthesize it quite easily.

But still, here's a question to anyone willing to tackle it.

Why doesn't Superman create kryptonite isotopes that actually have positive effects on him instead of just letting only the negative one's exist?

Where does this question comes from?! From when Superman was brought back to life by the Eradicator after his fatal battle with Doomsday. When Superman returned to life he was mostly depowered. But has he returned his powers started slowly returning, but still not nearly enough for him to defeat Cyborg Superman on his own, in fact Cyborg Superman nearly kill him when he took the huge piece of kryptonite that was being used to power Coast City world engine, and fired all of the kryptonite radiation at Superman. Luckly enough the Eradicator placed himself between the blast and the radiation not only saving Superman but also restoring all his powers to their maximum. Not only that but after a while Superman powers started to grow at a ever more increased rate. So much so that Superman was becoming unable to control his powers. And when he went to Prof. Hamilton to do some tests, Hamilton theorized that Superman most had been exposed to some kind of kryptonite, that he named Kryptonite-X. And Superman explained what had happened during his battle with Cyborg Superman, and the Eradicator sacrifice. To which Hamilton said, that it had been the Eradicator energies that combined with the kryptonite radiation somehow altered it, to not only allow Superman to instantly recharge himself but that the process was still happening, and if Superman didn't found a way to stop the process, his powers would keep on growing until his body could no longer contain its own power.

And looking at the current version of the DCU we got green, red, blue, silver and black kryptonite.

Green=weakens and can kill a kryptonian.

Red=causes hallucinations.

Blue=they say it kills kryptonian spirits but I don't buy that, to me it most degrade kryptonian neural processes giving the impression that it kills kryptonian spirit.

Silver and Black=Effects still unknown.

But in one of the Teen Titans comics it was shown that STAR Labs had somehow produced a kind of red kryptonite pills that when ingested gave each normal person a unique power.

So maybe Superman could use some of that kryptonian tech, more specifically the sunstone tech, combine it with kryptonite and try to create types of kryptonite radiation that actually helped. One type could help his powers grow stronger, another type could allow him to use his basic power set in a whole new range of possibilities, another type could help him to access parts of his brain that he can't or help him use more of his brain potential, and other types could for example temporarely or permanently add a new power or powers.

The potential would be near limitless.

@lxlgiftedlxl:

If you're refering to Silver and Black, still unknown. They been refered to twice only but never shown or explained their effects. But one thing is known. There's no gold kryptonite since the reboot.

More recently when Bruce and Lex were talking about Lex past with Superman, Lex refered that he had explored the potentials of green, red, blue, platinum and black kryptonite, but he didn't mentioned gold. Nor was it mentioned when at the start of the New 52 by Vyndktvx when he said "From a single piece of green kryptonite you can create all it's other forms like red, blue, silver, black and kryptisium"

Green has been shown to produce the same effects has the one's before the reboot although Superman most of times seems to be able to handle its radiation much better than the pre-New52 versions; red has been changed to hallucinations only, when before the reboot in its raw form it caused a kryptonian to lose all inhibitions and energized it cause uncontrolled mutations; blue now can make Superman lose his will to act and can kill Zoners, while before the reboot it only affected Bizarros; silver before the reboot it had magical properties; black before the reboot in its raw form caused the worst mental aspects of a kryptonian to replace their normal one's and energized it caused a kryptonian to split into two independent beings, one being the normal one the other having only the darkest aspects.

And all this I've said after the reboot is all canon. None where refered to in side stories or alternate timelines. The one to make the changes was Morrison himself. So that's has canon as it can be.

@heavenlydarkdragon: Thanks for explaining it to me, still new to learning about Superman. I was under the impression only Green, Red and Blue only existed, but now I guess there is more.

@lxlgiftedlxl:

The problem isn't even that there's more than just green.

It's where it all comes from.

Before the reboot many writers gave the impression that Krypton was on our own solar system, seeing the sheer amount of kryptonite that arrived on Earth. And even when there was at first only one piece of kryptonite, one that got stuck on Superman ship, out of nowhere kryptonite amount increased without one bit of explanation.

The same now in the New 52 or DCYou to be more exact, at first the only pieces of kryptonite where the one's that the military were able to extract from the engine of Superman ship. And even then there were only like 8 or less small shards. Then it came the Doomed arc and the military had enough kryptonite to create a bomb that covered Earth's atmosphere with it.

Something as simple has saying they found a way to synthesize it even if it didn't packed the punch the real stuff did, it would at least explain how it simply keeps existing and never runs out.

Read Superman/Batman : The search for Kryptonite and be satisfied :)

Though this story arc was pre-reboot and made sense. The ubiquitousness of Kryptonite in the new 52 is utter WIS/PIS since the only kryptonite to come to earth was a chunk of it which powered Kal-el's rocket. The end of the Doomed arc was rubbish. Been done in a better way before in the story arc i mentioned above.

@ultimatesmfan:

Be satisfied or not. Remember that that arc also shown how much unprepared Superman always is. Be it then and more so now.

Actually it wasn't a chunk of kryptonite. The ship engine/power core, was made of kryptonite. And has shown in Morrison run, they were only able to extract like 8 or less small shards. And Lex stole two for himself.

But still they never explain how they get more. Seeing that Earth is the alien spotlight of the universe they could at least show in a scene, alien merchants selling kryptonite. Easy to do and it would end all questions.

The same goes for his space and Artic fortress. They never bothered to explain what happened to the space fortress and how the Artic Fortress came to be. When it could have been explained in 5 pages or less.

It's this lack of obligation to explain things that really gets under my skin sometimes.

They said they were gonna explain the origins of his bio-armor but never got around to do so.

They introduced a new suit that has nothing new about it, except for the belt (that's even worse now than before).

It's little things like these that pile up over time and make some people start to lose interest in a comic that never bothers to explain much of anything.
