I think it was hilarious when Maxima wanted to have children with Superman and the fact that she was furious every time he turned her down. Do you think they should have gotten together?
If Maxima and Superman Got Together?
He was entertaining the idea for a minute, contemplating the notion of continuing the Kryptonian line was appealing to him.
I would ahve liked to see them together if she wasn't such a nut case.

LOL I don't think she was a nut case. She was just desperate to have a family.

She needed an heir.
oh lord i would not mind one bit. When he and wonder woman break up (sigh sadly) then it should be her. He can change her warlike was a bit.

Same here.
I would love to see maxima get with him after Wonder Woman. I like that the new 52 is giving characters more than one significant other
@mitran: yeah I can agree with that.
I think the title would do well if they jut had them together as two people who happened to be dating. They should be playful with one another and maybe even start acting alike and having inside jokes that even we don't get. They could do a better job of making the relationship more authentic I agree. But I enjoy the title and look forward to it each month. I think there's a lot of pressure on DC to make this work because of criticism and back lash from making this decision.
@pperspectiveandreality: so do I
Can't see Maxima as any more than comedy relief.
C'mon. She's a Alien Queen that owns a planet and becomes infatuated with Superman. She has most of Big Blue's powerset, with Telepathy to boot.
There is plenty of story potential and character interpretation to be done with her.
She's gay so barring a preference swap, this isn't going to happen, she might try to hook up with Kara though.
@sovereign91001: Since when?
omg the child support would suck to be Clark Kent.
Maxima just read the results Murrey....
Superman you are the father.....
Diana points to Superman.......see your daddy wave to your daddy he is on tv.....
@superguy1591: Since her intro into the new 52 in Supergirl's book, she also seems to have a crush on Kara. I'm out now but I'll throw up scans when I get home.
@rpgesus: Are you thinking of Barda and Superman?
@sovereign91001: lol yeah i thought it was someone like that
@superguy1591: Here you go.

Like Wonder Woman. There is near to nothing you could do with Maxima that you couldn't do with anyone else. Her "appeal" is the comedy relief she provided with her trying to win Superman.
I personally believe you couldn't do something with Maxima if you take the character seriously. Wonder Woman does now what a relationship with Maxima will do in the future. So I don't want to see a rehash of the same relationship but with a different name :P
Weren't they forced to make a porno already lol
That was Barda.
@superguy1591: Here you go.
This is what I am talking about. Take the Maxima character seriously and she loses her appeal. The only way to make her remotely interesting was to turn her gay :P And even that didn't help.
@squalleon: Eh, she's only been in a handful of issues so far, I'd like to see her in a bit more before I call it one way or the other.
"Like Wonder Woman. There is near to nothing you could do with Maxima that you couldn't do with anyone else."
That's not just specified to WW, dude. This trait tailors to practically every single fictional character ever.
C'mon! Can't you see the potential? She's an powerful tyrannical alien princess that has become infatuated by Supes.
You could have her character grow from a irresponsible despot to a proud Queen of a planet because Supes inspired her to become a better person.
You could make her fight off an invasion from other villains like Brainiac or Mongul, which would make for some cool fight scenes due to her powerset.
You could explore the political side of her character and watch her trying to unite her kingdom or make peace treaties with other planets, like Daxam.
You could have her be of help to Superman by actually showing him what places in other planets are in need of his help.
The list goes on.
Edit: Since she's a telepath, you could have her teach Supes some mind resistance, too.

What I mean is that Maxima will only end up as a rehash of the Wonder Woman relationship.

In the New 52 she isn't neither Tyrannical not infatuated with Supes.
I can see her do all those things. But I don't see how a relationship with Supes would add to that. And I also don't see how Supes would be any better for it. You can have her as a side-character and a one-side crash. But what you described put Supes into a supporting role and her in the lead chair rather than showing me what the relationship would bring. You don't have to have her being in relationship to do those.
The moment she is with Superman you have to enter Superman's living frame. And there goes the cliches that were just explored with Wonder Woman, different morals, high octain actions, with Supes girlfriend not needing saving, action scenes as you described a similar powerset which would make Maxima nothing new even in this are.
@squalleon: Maxima differs from Diana in that Maxima isn't as iconic and was created for the Superman mythos.
You can do whatever you want with Maxima, and no one would complain. I can write Maxima into a good character, I'm sure better writers than me at DC can too.

I am not saying you can't make her interesting. But I am saying that the relationship with Maxima NOW wouldn't add anything to Superman or the storytelling.
You will have her question his morals (done with Diana, check), fight together as instead of "needing saving" (check), challenge their relationship by having her do something that Superman wouldn't. You know things that Diana does now.
I guess I am saying that, this relationship would be stale before it even begins.

You're mistaking me here. I didn't argue that Maxima should be in relationship with Supes, I was talking about her character potential.
@squalleon: my bad, copy error.

Oh, okay. But anyway almost any character can become interesting if you change them to their core. Maxima can but when people talk about her, they focus on her relationship with Supes rather than making her interesting, hence my assumptions. And I don't see her adding anything new in that context except comedy relief.
@squalleon: my bad, copy error.
Okay, I wondered what it was because I saw a notification and couldn't see the comment.
@squalleon: my basic point was that you don't want to give Superman someone that's too much like him or you're forced to do events like Truth for dramatic purposes.
He's a straight man, he needs to be paired up with comedic types. Plus,Maxima has flaws he can fix, and writers love having Superman fix flaws.

It seems we agree in that the relationship context Maxima can play only the comedy relief (as I mentioned in my original post).
The characters can't be way different because then it feels un-organic and out of character. So the "flaws" Maxima will end up having are the same differences Superman has currently with Diana.
So the only thing Maxima can add is comedy.
Personally, I would prefer if Clark was single. Too much time spent on relationships and romances and less in telling a story lately.
@squalleon: I think Superman could always use a little humor in his books, and he needs to expand his universe. We always hear about his great space adventures(the sun eater in All-Star), but we never see them. Also, Maxima offers Superman an entry point into a much needed space epic.

Maybe. Personally I don't think it is difficult to put Superman into a cosmic concept. It is just that writers don't go for cosmic Superman.
But again, I don't see why Superman has to be in relationship with Maxima for her to enter his stories. Also it isn't like Maxima is a character that couldn't be replaced by a new character if you want space epics.
@squalleon: I know it's not difficult, I just think this would be more organic if Maxima was there.
@squalleon: I know it's not difficult, I just think this would be more organic if Maxima was there.
Sure. But I don't think these two have to be in a relationship to introduce Maxima or to have cosmic epics that involve her.
@sovereign91001: Are we sure that that is the lady Maxima, royal queen, head of the royal house, leader of all Almerac, and Superman's betrothed?
I hope not, seems like a waste of a perfectly good Superman romance to make her into a one shot Supergirl character.
There are 3 Bizzaros in the N52, I don't see why we can't have another Maxima.
@the_kidd: Almeracians are related to Kryptonians, problem solved with easy writing.
But it was a joke concept, not really something that was to be taken seriously.
