Um... aside from the fact that he most likely would not want to destroy an entire planet, if he had the sudden desire to bust a planet, his power levels would allow him to accomplish such a feat.
Superman is the most powerful superhero ever. He is definately a planet buster and more. He's as powerful as the situation requires. Against Imperiex he absorbed enough solar power/radiation to put him in a class reserved only for cosmic beings and a few Godheads.

but pre 1987 Superman was a planet buster and more, he even picked them up and juggled them around the universe to prove how super he is. Post crisis was toned down to keep Superman away from the ridiculously powerful silverage territory
Marvel has not learned from DC's mistakes and instead allowed Bendis and the Sentry to drag everyone kicking and screaming back into the silverage

@jumpstart55: IIRC he busted the the Shadow Moon a copy of a Saturn's moon and KOed himself but I am reluctant to make a case for him since the properties of Shadow Moon is unclear.

Superman is celestial class potential given his Sun dip feat to the future. He can beat anything tangible and ethereal if he decides not to close his limits off.
It's the truth, Superman wouldn't even be top 100 on the list of the most powerful fictional characters ever. I may concede and maybe put him at top 50, but that's the max.
Even though the power of a character has nothing to do with how much you like them. Just because some entity is more powerful than Superman doesn't mean I would like that said entity more than Superman. For example, The Living Tribunal is light-years ahead of Superman, but that doesn't mean you have to like The Living Tribunal more. What character you like is just subjective.

Herc said most powerful superhero, not most powerful fictional character. I don't know much about Marvel, but it sounds to me like the Living Tribunal isn't a superhero. If he was, he could blink and make every other supervillain cease to exist if he truly is omnipotent.
