Um... aside from the fact that he most likely would not want to destroy an entire planet, if he had the sudden desire to bust a planet, his power levels would allow him to accomplish such a feat.

Superman is the most powerful superhero ever.  He is definately a planet buster and more.
He's as powerful as the situation requires.  Against Imperiex he absorbed enough solar power/radiation
to put him in a class reserved only for cosmic beings and a few Godheads.

You got that right!  Marvel has made the Sentry the most powerful rip-off ever.

Personally, I would rather Hyperion (712) be the most powerful rip-off, though I'd still keep him below the ridiculous level Marvel put the Sentry at.

No he's not a planet buster

but pre 1987 Superman was a planet buster and more, he even picked them up and juggled them around the universe to prove how super he is. Post crisis was toned down to keep Superman away from the ridiculously powerful silverage territory

Marvel has not learned from DC's mistakes and instead allowed Bendis and the Sentry to drag everyone kicking and screaming back into the silverage

Practically.  I guess that explains the need to keep Kryptonians and Daxamites to a minimum (at least in the past).

it'll change, they'll probably keep Mon-El, Sodam Yat and the Superman family around but new Krypton won't last

Yeah, pretty much.  Prime flew through an alternate earth and destroyed it.

ROFL, are you joking or something? Superman is nowhere near the most powerful superhero ever. Superman is just a planet-buster with multi planet-level durability, that's it. I doubt Superman would even be top 100 on the list of the most powerful fictional characters ever.

@tjsh96: Given the fact he's literally taken New Gods to the limit and won, I think it's fair to say Superman is (at the very least,) in the top ten on that list.

Superman is celestial class potential given his Sun dip feat to the future. He can beat anything tangible and ethereal if he decides not to close his limits off.

It's the truth, Superman wouldn't even be top 100 on the list of the most powerful fictional characters ever. I may concede and maybe put him at top 50, but that's the max.

@warlock360:

Even though the power of a character has nothing to do with how much you like them. Just because some entity is more powerful than Superman doesn't mean I would like that said entity more than Superman. For example, The Living Tribunal is light-years ahead of Superman, but that doesn't mean you have to like The Living Tribunal more. What character you like is just subjective.

Herc said most powerful superhero, not most powerful fictional character. I don't know much about Marvel, but it sounds to me like the Living Tribunal isn't a superhero. If he was, he could blink and make every other supervillain cease to exist if he truly is omnipotent.

When did thor beat galactus?

I personally think SA supes could potentially fart a galaxy away. If he accidently destroyed a solar system, imagine an intentionally lethal fart.

Also supes should be in the at least top 100 most powerful superheroes if not top 50. Supes 1million is surely top 25 though.
