Sorry if this is posted anywhere else, I did search but couldn't find anything.
It may be a silly question, the movie says he is 200-225lbs, but seriously, that is never true ever!
Anyone have a clue on how heavy he really is? Sorry if its an irrelevant question, but I'm seriously interested, its been bugging me.
How Heavy is Superman?

i cant accept that as his weight.. he is supposed to be much much denser than a human, if a 6'4 human is 225-250lb's then he cant be, it would be physically impossible, unless he isnt much denser... but from everything ive read i assume he is...
@The Poet , yeah, i know it wierd but its been on my mind for ages
Well a friend of mine and I think that his biomatrix field gives him more mass. His body weight is about 225-235 and Batman should easily be able to throw him around like he does in the cartoons, but in the cartoons he doesn't have his field and in the comics Batman has only managed to more trip him up than actually throw him. Also, there was a fight between him and Black Atom during IC where Supes had to grab his arm and pull it towards him as well as fly blackwards and drive his feet into the ground to keep from hitting Atom in the back of the head. Which, I think, further supports his field giving him more mass.
I think an average Kyptonian muscles is denser than an average human, even w/o yellow sun radiation.
not only that, he is surrounded by a powerful force field several millimeters from his skin and within his entire body, thats how he can tank stuff, also when he lifts stuff its not him put the force field that is carrying the weight.I think an average Kyptonian muscles is denser than an average human, even w/o yellow sun radiation.
No. He has a bioelectric aura which surrounds his body. When his powers are not working, he's normal human. If he where to have dense tissue, he would display some form of enhanced strength, which he doesn't. And has Jedi stated. His weight is stated in the DC Encyclopaedia.
These are the weights I know of:
Kal-L - The GA Superman is 222lbs
Kal El of New Earth is 235lbs
Chris-Reeves is 225lbs
I know what you're trying to get at.
You see Clark has had weight issues all his life, no really it's true. When he was on the farm, Ma Kent would keep feeding him and feeding him, threatening him if he didn't finish everything on his plate. When puberty kicked in he wanted to join a sports team to trim down a bit, but the said thing was, his parents forbade him exercising. It is my theory that Ma and Pa Kent secretly regretted adopting Clark, and were trying to keep him down and isolated. As depression sunk in, Clark turned to books and ho-hos to fill the gap that Ma and Pa Kent drilled into him to this day, as soon as he could he ran off to Metropolis away from Smallville to get away from the trauma.
Whenever there's a time of great stress, Clark goes to the nearest McDonalds and eats their apple pies until the crisis is over. Which is why you never see Clark Kent at the scene of an accident! He can't deal with the intensity and stress of the situation. It really highlights a growing concern in this country over male image issues and emotional eating, it's very brave of him to walk around in blue tights, and really show that he's not afraid of who he is and really shows how he's grown as a human being.
Its a little off topic. Im sorry for that. But this got me thinking. If superman is dense enough and hard enough (dont make any weird jokes) for bullets to bounce off him, then wouldnt if he swooped down from the sky to catch a falling damsel in distress, it crush her bones? imagine how solid he would be. it would like being caught by emma stone if she could fly lol.
@flipboy67: Though the bio-electric aura still has its uses. That's why when he lifts say, a building it doesn't collapse under uts own weight.
He should weigh more because his body should be more dense I would prefer this over a field of energy that is around him.
It would make more sense more cells per inch more mass in him then any normal person.
Well, seing that in the pre-52 version he was married to Lois, slept in the same bed with her and never killed her, I'd say he weighs the same has any regular human his size.

I would just put it down to he is always aware of his environment and takes measures to not crush things. He used to never need sleep. Thankfully they fixed that. Sleep is one of life's greatest treasures lol
New 52 Supes is 235 and 6`3
Pre 52 Supes is generally drawn looking 6`4 240-250. DC has even stated Pre 52 Supes is bigger than New 52 Supes which is why he seems slimmed down.
@thespencer: I know it's late, but I think he said 2,225, that's why Lois sounded shocked. Also the subtitles also said 2,225.
@superguy24: More like "2-225" as in "200-225"
@thespencer: I don't know why the DC Encyclopedia lists Superman's weight as 235 lbs when it simply is not. This is the same book that has Doomsday having Kryptonite laced skeleton when Doomsday "never" had that. Take it from a long time reader of Superman comics, 80 page gaints, etc.
Superman's height is 6'3" and his weight is 225 lbs. Always has been (in the comics) and always will be.
5 years late in my reply, but oh well.
