i really REALLY dont like John Romita Jr's art. Art turns me off more then anything else when it comes to reading comics
Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr reported as New SUPERMAN Creative Team [Update]
@tdk_1997: the art is weird no?
and i feel like Geoff Johns' creative juices are running a bit low
In an interview over at IGN Johns said that this storyline will " it will kind of reset Superman and his universe in the New 52."
That is promising news to my ears.
Awesome? tbh I liked H'el though, everything else was bad though.
me and you are among the few that like the h'el stuff, that said i LOVE unchained
Awesome news! None of the current Superman books are really good IMO, but this creative team sounds promising.

The artwork is beyond good for me.I love John Romita Jr.'s art and all of his work.He has been doing some bad art lately with Captain America but from that teaser image of Superman everything is looking good.
Johns has been on just too many books lately and that is why you are feeling that way.But after he finished his Green Lantern run and his Aquaman run,his work both on Forever Evil and Justice League has been top notch.

H'el was okay, but I found myself slowly not caring and dropped the book before the arc closed. As for Unchained I think its been the best New 52 Superman story but it's nothing special.

ehh, you must have not read Morrisons action comics?

Actually the rumor went around is that he's only allowed to write two books now, Justice League and now announced Superman.
Love Johns's writing, can't wait for that, Romita's art on the other hand...
Romita Jr's art is either a big hit or a big flop, and judging by that image, I'm disappointingly leaning towards the latter, although I hope to be proven wrong.
@allstarsuperman: Actually, I did not. At that time I was stretched pretty thin money wise and thought there is no way he out does All Star. Should I seek out the trades?

yeah
Wasn't really a fan of it but you wouldn't have to change anything significant if you wanted to keep it. Just change it from armor to a suit and you can keep it intact.

Romita jr.'s style is either working or not at all and it almost always depends on the inker and the colorist. His best work is his Spider-Man work and some of his X-Men work also,oh and his work on Daredevil as well. Most of his later stuff like:World War Hulk and his recent Captain America aren't worth mentioning.

I think it depends on the character too. The Superman in that image just looks... weird.
John Romita Jr - so don't like the guy's work. It may be a step forward in writing but its a step back in art. Bad art = Bad visual = BAD comics.

Nah,I don't think that it depends on the character because throughout the years Romita has illustrated a lot of character which are all way different than the previous and he hasn't seem to have a problem with that. The main factor is the inker who will make his art amazing, good enough or atrocious.
@colanicole: If that means "Grounded" all over again...no thanks.

YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so happy right now. Summer can't get here fast enough.
Given how Johns wrote New 52 Superman thus far and Romita Jr's poor artwork as of late, I wouldn't get your hopes up that much. Superman will at least be bearable with these two but there's not enough to get too excited about right now.

But so far he's only written Supes in a team environment. With 7 characters at minimum, it's very difficult to keep their personalities unchanged without conflict. So if Superman's a bit different in Justice League, the only thing you can really blame is the amount of characters. In a solo book, I think we'll see how Johns really interprets the character.
@2cool4fun: That was his Pre Flashpoint Superman. Need I remind you how he wrote New 52 Superman?
This isn't something I like seeing in how Superman is written at all.
Considering the difference between the characterazation of Hal in Green lantern and Hal in Justice League both under Johns, and the fact that he is currently writing less titles which will give him more focus on Superman, I am actually pretty confident. As for Romita Jr. the colored version of that image was quite good, I am not expecting great things from him but at least if the quality of his art is stays like that I can enjoy Superman a lot more than I do now.
@alertcircuit: Johns has managed quality written team books before. Teen Titans, JSA etc. He should have done better with 7 members on the team. And I hope you're right though Johns does have his flaws when he's writing such as the criticisms levelled against his Green Lantern run.

I really didn't like that coloured version. Also, you know the other non coloured image that was released? Tell me it doesn't look like Romita Jr's depiction of Thor on this cover of Avengers in the slightest
