Son of Batman
Since Damian is arguably my favorite DC character, I was so excited to see him animated for the first time. And while Damian's behavior was pretty faithful to how he acts in the comics, unfortunately this movie was a serious let down. There was so much general stupidity that I found it kind of hard to watch at times but that would involve a lot of spoilers. I think the two biggest problems though were Damian being overpowered and Slade being underpowered.
Damian seems to be downright superhuman here because not only does he physically dominate grown men(where he would usually rely on his agility) but he also manages to continue fighting perfectly despite sustaining severe injuries. No doubt Damian is extremely skilled and has beaten experienced adults before but he takes out Slade's eye in their first encounter which ends with Slade fleeing. Then in their second encounter, Slade is so scared of fighting him fairly that he just pulls out a gun in an attempt to shoot him dead. Batman shows up, slaps Slade(which he is powerless to stop) around for a few seconds and he runs again. Then Slade and Damian have their final fight, in which Damian is basically the terminator.
At least it had good humor but they really would've been better off just sticking to the source material. Would give it a 5/10.
2/5, at most.
I'm hardly one of those people that are like 'ugh, that film was so bad'...but this, as other users have pointed out, is easily one of the worst from the DCOA films.
Deathstroke done pretty badly. Also most of the fight scenes were simply too unrealistic...yeah, yeah, I know we're talking about superheroes and comic books, but when a child is able to go toe-to-toe with grown men, and match their strength, league of assassins, or not, it's utterly stupid...
I was really dissapointed by this movie. The whole thing just fell flat on so many levels. O'Mara's voice...ugh he sounded like a robot. Deathstroke... what were they thinking? The extra bloodshed in this movie was unnecessary. My attention wandered so much while watching this, just not compelling. I am worried cause in the past DC has knocked it outta the park with most of their animated features, and things looked like they started to go downhill since Flashpoint Paradox, and JL War. Oh well, I have high hopes for Assault on Arkham -- at least we get Kevin Conroy voicing Batman.
This move had so much potential but was compelte garbage. By far the worst animated move from DC. Which is scaring me.TTGO and BOTB suck. Animation was pretty much the only non comic thing we could rely on from DC since MOS was garbage and MOS 2 doesn't seem much better. So it was nice to rely on that animation. But their current shows suck and while i though Justice League War was ok i still noticed it had a major amount of problems and i could tell War was the start of a possible downhill streak but most didn't even like War. But Son of Batman was just terrible. I think the only good thing i can say about this movie is that Nightwing didn't suck at it and his voice actors seemed right unlike EVERY OTHER CHARACTER. Even the animation sucked. It was too anime didn't feel the same as Flashpoint or even War. Wasn't as smooth of animation. Overall there's just like nothing positive to say about the movie.
I have no idea what all these abbreviations mean.
Finally saw this and... yeah, it has problems. Oh, does it ever. I'd certainly put it toward the bottom of the 20 DC animated movies we've had so far. To be fair, it has its strengths. Damian is well portrayed, starting as a little brat who shakes things up and leads to some truly great exchanges between him and a couple of more established Batman characters. The action is well done, Nightwing's introduction is fantastic, and he story fits the run time well, not feeling too short or rushed. I'm actually okay with O'Mara's Batman, it reminds me of Bruce Greenwood's take which I loved, though he does show some limitations, like his "outburst" after he pushes the chair across the room.
But its treatment of Deathstroke almost completely derails it. He is a completely ineffectual villain, easily bested by Batman, unable to defeat a 10-year-old, and easily the worst portrayal of the character I've seen. They could have demonstrated Damian's skills while still making it clear he's overmatched, perhaps give us a good fight where Deathstroke is giving Bats trouble with a last second assist from Damian leading to victory. Instead, the movie weakens Deathstroke and just ends up damaging itself.
it sucked so hard. it was the first DCAU movie to suck. I fear its over.
Deathstroke was supremely weaker, this can't be overlooked. Damien had zero growth. The final battle Slade is telling him his major flaws(he only has physical strengths/positives), that Dick and to an extent Bruce/Alfred already told him, and boom Slade's dead. Bruce even silently encouraged Damien's behavior. Yeah he said all the right things. "you an assassin", "no swords", "we don't kill" but every time was visibly and/or vocally extremely impressed by Damien. leaving no indication Damien should change.
Thomas Wayne was a murderous Batman in Flashpoint but by the end was vocally ready to end it all for a new way for the world. The league learned how to a team in War, Vic/Billy/Hal had major self worth improvements by the end. Kara was no longer a coward and Supes learned his advantage over Brainiac was that he was apart of the world in Unbound. etc.
Movie was the same problems I have with Damien as a character.
A little boy can hold his own with Deathstroke ,1 star :P

also this...one thing I did appreciate however was how bad ass they made R'as for 3 minutes until everyone decided to take turns shooting at him in a circle...then he got burned to death and Talia decided to leave him dead for no reason.....
it was the first DCAU movie to suck.
Not true, Superman: Unbound, JL: Doom and JL: War were pretty bad. They didn't do as badly as this film, it is not the first DCAU movie to suck.
