Creative Team for New SILVER SURFER Series Announced

More news from the Diamond Baltimore Summit. We hadn't heard any official announcements on SILVER SURFER when All-New, All-Different Marvel was announced. We've seen both Dan Slott and Mike Allred stating on social media that they'd love to continue. How does Marvel feel about that?

It turns out, they feel pretty strongly. The new series, that starts out after Secret Wars, has been announced.

Dan Slott and Mike Allred will return. We'll assume Laura Allred as well on color. Marvel will release more information, including a release date, tomorrow morning.

Slott/Allred's run on Silver Server isn't just one of the best SS runs ever it's just one of the best comic runs marvel's ever published.

I love the concept of Silver Surfer as the Doctor, I like Dan Slott's writing. I just cannot get past Allred's horrible horrible art. I know, it reminiscent of Jack Kirby's work and that gives a bunch of older fans a Silver age boner, but seriously. His art sucks.

I love Slott's Spidey but I was never really feeling this series. I got about 6 issues in and just had to drop it. It wash't like it was really bad or anything I just found it hard to care.

Yet I read the ENTIRE run!! I read almost everything Marvel puts out (except Deadpool and Punisher) Now that I get to say my opinion, I also believe Slott's run was fantastic and the one of the best Marvel has produced since Marvel Now! began.

Here we go again. Back to number 1.

Come on the run that gave Silver Surfer some sort of Humanity back....

There is no need for restarting a series at #1, especially when it using the exact same team. Messes with my comic organization.

Great, I loved Slott´s run on Silver Surfer, I´m glad he continues in this..........if only we could get him out of Spider-Man, that would be great.

Oh god, when I read the title I worried that the creative team would change. I was ready to complain.

But this is great news! Great series! I hope they continue for a long long time!

It's only the art. My problem with silver surfer books is that Marvel never shows the full caliber of his powers. He barely uses them in creative was really.

ugh.... why does mavel hate all my favorite characters.

I like Allred's work on other books (Batman 66 for example) but it does not work for me for SS. I like Kirby's SS better and I am NOT a Kirby fan

Slott's done some great things with Spider-Man... that said, this would have been a great time to let someone else tell a more inventive story with one of the wall crawlers. His SS run was meh and Dan Slott is an awful writer IMO and I hope Dan Slott never sets foot in the comic industry again. End of story.

Also, are you really going to use one source to establish the public's opinion on SS? Really?

I'm talking about public opinion from MULTIPLE sources, not just one thread with barely any posts.

I'm a Slott hater? Yes, I'm a Slott hater, admittedly. His writing is awful, he has no idea how to write characters and I hate his "Happy Go Lucky" tone present in every single one of his books. Just because I dislike his writing doesn't make my opinion any less valid than yours or anyone else's. Humans are more than capable of forming opinions of their own without having to constantly agree with whatever a critic says and forming an opinion without any form of bias in whatever shape or form. Why should I be labeled with bias and contrarianism when my opinion is just as similar to yours, just with an opposite motive and meaning?

Last volume was very fun and I love anything Allred draws. I hope Dawn shows up again also hope for a little more action this time around

Overall, I think the series has been pretty bad as far as characterization and story. They almost touched on something interesting with the Surfer's past but missed the mark. Surfer couldn't be more out of character last issue.

Also, calling the board Toomie and pretending it is a separate being from the Surfer is probably the dumbest thing ever.

I go up and down with my enjoyment of it and its not all bad, but I sure wish they'd give us Surfer fans a real Surfer book.

I saw a few scans of this way back, and got a very strong Doctor Who vibe, which honestly does not seem like surfer. I'd give it a chance, but after Superior, I'm not touching anything written by Slott.

Go ahead and read my posts concerning Slott if you think I'm so biased. Godawful writing, OOC character arcs, awful dialogue that belongs in a kid's cartoon, awfully written villains, meh arcs, cliche as hell, same tone, no variety, THAT is the reason I hate Slott, that and I don't want Silver Surfer to be a complete and utter Doctor Who clone as he is now, thanks to Slott.

Programmed to hate Slott? Again, I'm perfectly capable of disliking something with actual REASON which I so perfectly demonstrated in my previous post. Just because I have a different opinion than YOU that doesn't make my opinion need any validation from you or anyone else to be perfectly reasonable when I have clearly stated perfectly valid reasons for why I dislike Slott's writing.

@knightsofdarkness2: Maybe look at the comments on all the sites that review this series that you already said you didn't read. Maybe check the comments on the various interviews about this series on cbr or something? Maybe look it up on facebook and twitter? The typical ways you would go about finding the popular opinion of something.

I did read the series (just a couple of days ago in fact) except for the last two issues like I said a billion times. Your poor comprehension skills are showing.

I never said anything about the public opinion of the series, Parachomp did. I asked him to back up his claim about the series being universally critically acclaimed like he said it was by listing multiple sources, yet he didn't. I was asking for proof which he didn't provide, I never used the public opinion of this series as an argument, nor did I ask the public opinion of this series, just actual proof of his claim.

I really liked the stories and art of first series. So i'm looking forward for it.

Being a huge fan of the Cosmic Wanderer, I wasn't aware the new series was cancelled or on hiatus for whatever reason. So, a re-restart of the Surfer is coming back in January. The hell was wrong with it in the first place?
