The Frigid South hides many dark secrets. It is a place of untold madness, where the Dark Gods first cast their shadow on the world, and plagued the continent of Skellbrieg with the unending plague of necromancy. Such black magic is the ultimate end to most warlocks and wizards who seek immortality and everlasting power, for not even they can withstand the test of age. Transferring their undying essence into new bodies, raising the dead, and scheming for the end of life so that they can rule supreme is all they begin to dream about in their dark slumber.
And so, they waited.
Necromancers from all over Skellbrieg and beyond the Edge of the World, necromancers who toiled in the Cult of Demand, the Malevolent Hammer, and the magician-hunting Azure Clan all inevitably gather at the black gates of Djornfrost, where the giants and Jotunworden guide them to their icy holds within the glaciers. These cities dot the landscape, but are not distanced. They are all interconnected, and if one is threatened then the whole is alerted to the phenomenon.
Floating necropoli sometimes wander freely, away from the cluster of chaotic magics that the Frigid South has become. These are not deviant vessels, they are hovering fortresses. Bilewyrm, Nossmetarus, and Drag Hold are just a handful of examples of these behemoths swarming the skies over the antarctic coastline. Each one is a specially-designed "reward" for a faithful necromancer or tyrannical warlord. But, the greatest mystery about the Frigid South is not what it hides, but who rules it.
