As Paladin returned to Asgard after his quick and decisive battle against the Demon, the son of Preen could feel a spirit pulling at him. He paused and tried to focus on the spirit, but was not able to. As suddenly as the spirit came to him, it also departed.
Once back on the ground at Asgard Paladin heard his beloved sister asking him,
"Paladin, what was that? What do you mean by... his leader?"
Nothing for you to concern yourself with, Paladin stopped and turned toward Lexi. I do know now that in this world the registration act has passed, and it seems the authorities are slanted toward evil, so we all must be on our guard. He smiled and walked toward Rayne.
Paladin talked in a low voice to Rayne, I can feel many things are happening as we speak. I can sense evil in the air here, be on your guard. I can also feel the spirit of one of the Gods of this world calling to me, so he must be very close. I must go find this spirit immediately, so I will leave for a short time. I want you to take over the defense of Asgard and our team in my absence. Watch the wall, Rayne and stay alert. You are the one for this task. Paladin smiled as Rayne nodded his head, and then Paladin walked away.
Then Paladin walked over to Hawk, and told him what was happening. Paladin asked, Hawk will you go with me on a quick mission. I can hear the spirit of one of the Gods and I know he is close. I must act quickly so as not to miss this opportunity. Hawk readily agreed and they both left and headed toward the small town.
When they arrived there were only a few people around. Paladin and Hawk landed on the street, and Paladin could hear one of the town’s people remarks, now there’s something you don’t see everyday. You two new around here, aint yall?
Paladin half smiled and started walking down the street, as Hawk was walking down the other side of the street they both were headed away from the center of town.
As the two heroes reached the outskirts of the town Paladin could see a large bridge which went over a huge ravine. This was the major road coming and going from the town. Paladin looked closely as he saw a man standing on the bridge.
Paladin and Hawk approached the man, and as they did the man became nervous and stood between them and the bridge. The man appeared as if he wanted to prevent the two heroes from coming onto the bridge.
Paladin talked with the man for a short while, asking him why he was on this bridge, and what his purpose was. The man had a glazed look in his eyes and he could not answer Paladins questions. The man on the bridge seemed to be overcome with grief and guilt; he kept muttering something about his failure to guard the bridge.
Then LstPaladin put his hand on the mans shoulder and said to him,
Tis easy to see your soul is torn, your grief is terrible within you, but your grief is not just your own, as the grief of Gods was never meant for mortals to bear
The man was confused and did not know how to receive Paladin’s words, as the stress of the moment was intense, the man fell to the ground as he asked Paladin Who are you?
Paladin simply answered, a friend. Then Paladin asked Hawk to stand back. Paladin began to swing his hammer around swiftly. As he did Paladin spoke
Two souls were never meant to bear this burden together. Your world came to an end before your very eyes, your desire being to protect that world. You felt as if you failed, but no, dear friend no. Its now time for you to awake, to live again. To once again join in the struggle against all evil and to stand tall as one of the Gods of Asgard once again.. I say to you….come forth, live, live again.
With those words a fierce storm erupted as lightening was all around the three of them. The ground rumbled as a bright light shone all around them, and the light appeared to be coming from the body which lay on the ground. Then with a loud clatter the figure of a huge warrior appeared next to the body. The giant of a warrior stood to his feet and looked at the thunder God in amazement.
Paladin greeted the God saying, Welcome Heimdall, welcome home. I am LstPaladin, the son of Preen. I was sent away from here long ago, but I have returned to make things right again. I need you to join me in this mission, let us know return to Asgard.
With that the stunned Heimdall nodded his head in agreement and said, yes it is time to return to my home.
