Vis Vires
He looks at Lance for a while. Yes, he stares directly at the ghost. He sees him, in all his smug glory. He hates him, both for lying to him about the deal and for offering such a lackluster item for his precious lantern. He almost growls at him.
The deal's off, stupid!
@Warsman: She looks down at the ground. I have plenty of faith in you, I just don't think that what you're doing is going to lead to anything other than heartache.
@Lance Uppercut: I know that handwriting. She walks over to one of the reels of film.
@The Dark Huntress: Hugs her again. It really hurt me, I told her the almost kiss meant nothing..but she didn't listen.
@Sexy Merc: Nothing good..
"@Warsman: She looks down at the ground. I have plenty of faith in you, I just don't think that what you're doing is going to lead to anything other than heartache."Even if it does...at least I tried.
He holds his lantern close and sits on the couch with his legs crossed around the device.
The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. He raised the lantern above his head and besought to the spirit of avarice trapped inside. The light faded from his body, for the moment, and he walked to his lab to lock it away once more. A moment passed, and he returned to Cass with his composed and orderly mannerisms returning.
I will not destroy it Cass. It's given me too much, I can never truly part with it.
So what if I am? It's a good addiction. It's given me power I've never dreamed of before!
He starts coughing violently. The time he spends apart from the lantern is starting to afflict him, as if the radiation it gave off kept him alive. After a moment, he returns to normal.
But I'll stay away from it. I'll use it in the most dire of circumstances.
It's just then that he notices his heartbeat. He hasn't felt it in so long, and yet he's about to lose it again. He stumbles to his feet, holding his head trying to keep the voices out. They're calling him...everyone he knew on Symaar and everyone since then who's felt the embrace of Death at his hands. He's a murderer, a murderer met with the ultimatum of repenting for his sins or dying. He vomits blood, his organs shutting down, as he falls to his knees.
Keep them out, Cass...make them go away...
The voices grow louder. He's closer to the grave, so close...
Make them stop!
With a final breath, he stops moving for a moment. Everything seems still. Is this what death is like? Quiet, peace, and tranquility? He likes the feeling. He expected something greater, yet he likes this feeling all the same. But then, a black light flies through the window and an object clasps onto the finger next to the orange ring. The object is shaped like the orange ring, but entirely dark like a void given material shape. He stands again, the veins in his body pulsating a deathly black color. He looks at Cass with soulless eyes.
I saw them, Cass...just for a second...I saw them all...
@Sexy Merc:
Well, if it isn't the pirate.
