Thick rolling banks of smoke erupted out into the night as Switch pulled open the door to the bar and stepped inside. The entire scene was covered in a haze of cigarette smoke and maybe something else as the vampire stalked to the bar and ordered a drink. The barkeep scowled at him as he surveyed his outlandish clothes but moved to get him the whiskey, selecting a clean glass from the shelf. Slowly the vampire turned around to face the inhabitants of the bar, his keen eyes pinpointing them through the smog and seeming to spear each one as they were found. Taking the drink he downed it in one and slammed the glass back on the bar without looking away from the small crowd of faces spread out over the tables and chairs.
"Someone comes in here looking for me, tell them I can be found on the Madison Bridge at midnight. There's no need to give them any trouble."
Turning he strode out, leaving a confused group of drunken, lowlifes behind him. What he had said was true, at midnight he wold be at the Madison Bridge. But there were a few hours until then and he was going to get the party started. Anything moving on the streets of old town tonight was dead. That ought to get an army to come to the Bridge by midnight, all of them out for his blood. Then they could really get started. He would see to that. The cold night air hit him like a physical blow as he stepped outside. A storm was coming in from the east. Vine City was in for a wild night. Shaking his head the vampire forgot about the storm, he was on the hunt for now. With a slight movement he loosened the sword in its scabbard, readying himself for what was to come. Then, like a sprinter, he was off. Dashing towards a nearby building and scaling it in moments. Without pausing to catch his breath the vampire was off again, moving quickly over the rooftops to find his prey.
At some crappy motel Switch stopped. Through the window he saw a group of hookers, at least five of them armed with automatic weaponry. They looked edgy, like something was going on that he didn't know about and one of them was on the phone, doing a lot more listening that talking. The vampire grinned widely, why eat some skinny homeless kid when there were beutiful women in revealing clothes on the menu. His face twisted into a more bestial visage, jagged fangs taking the place of his normal teeth as he ran towards the edge of the building he was one, across the street to the motel. With a grunt he launched himself into space, sailing towards the closed window and smashing through it. Instantly the hookers went for their guns, something had got them spooked, it wasn't normal for the girls of old town to go around so heavily armed. Little did they know that the thing they were armed against just came in through the window.
Switch rolled to his feet, his blade coming clear of the scabbard to flick out, beheading one of the women as they went for her gun. Another already had an uzi up and aimed at Switch but he swayed to the side, avoiding a burst of gunfire. In the blink of an eye he threw his blade, impaling her through the right side of the chest. The other hookers had had enough and piled out of the room, tossing back a grenade and slamming the door. Switch bounded across the room and withdrew his sword before kicking over a sofa for cover as the blast ripped through the room. Back on his feet the vampire moved out into the corridor, every ounce of him ready to get some killing done. Two more died, their guns firing ineffectually into the creature as it tore them apart. It was over, he had to leave one to tell the tale anyway. Leaving the way he had come in the vampire made his way towards the bridge, replacing his sword in its scabbard.
