@ziccarra_liafador: and dat thing is cuddleh
Telepathic Immunity is corny.
Thank you!
:P
Holy hell the RP is DEAD today... Or am I just lazy to find anything >_>
Nah, things seem pretty quiet today.
Use it in a different way, TP isn't all about mind control and illusions y'know
@the_rumor: Whatcha sayin? Zaniel would be so IN!
@the_rumor: >_> Yes...Nobody would join in-that case though 0_0 And..He is an "Angel" He could easily get revived lol
About to kill my dad. I don't want to listen to fcking talk radio. Wtf.
Psh. Patricide is so400 B.C.
Telepathic Immunity is corny.
The ability has the potential and has been used to god-mod to the point of it being a necessity.
Give me telepathy (with few defended against it) and common sense and I can own the Vine solo, and sell it.
U OF M!!!!!!!!!!!!!! back in the Finals for the first time since the Fab 5 era son!
Hail to the victors

I generally don't include telepathic immunity in characters unless I feel there's an absolutely good reason for it. Even when I had a telepath, she wasn't immune to telepathy.

I agree that there are way too many characters who have immunity and real good explanation for it, but at the same time I understand why they feel it necessary.
If you want to play a character with a secret ID and have no resistance I give you about a week before someone just god-mod's it out of you. IMO it is a necessary evil.

You can say that about just about any ability
Bullet dodging
Speed
Precog
Magic
Pressure Points
Chi
Telekinesis
Healing factors
Its all about selling. But I agree that there is something about Telepathy that can, and has, been used to bulldoze a victory.
Back in the day I didnt having TP defense but I remembered an episode of justice league animated and Batman was getting pwnd by a telepath. And he just starting singing London Bridge is falling down inside his head over and over again. I always liked that for some unknown reason. So much so I stole it in a fight. My point is there are clever or corny ways to defend against telepathy without just automatically being resistance to it. The Resistance of TP is now as bad and misused as the TP itself.
i have all the powers people hate lol
lol same here :P but I like to think its the way some people use em as opposed to the actual powers, but thats my own mental gymnastics.
@rain_eclipse_ves: I wouldn't say it was a necessary evil, at least not by my mindview. And truthfully, telepathy isn't even necessary for someone to godmod your identity. If someone wants to, they'll just say they know it and might not even feel the need to explain. It happened to Longshot all the time, and I think it might have happened to the Knightfalls a few. But then that goes into "metagaming information" territory. For my part, I never minded having telepathic enemies, because I'm one of those peoples who likes to give trouble to my characters. I let Nordok shut me down just because he had telepathy, and he actually used it well, but most people I know around here don't even use it offensively.

lol awesome post count
@the_last_arashikage: Well the character is meant to be designed as a ultimate solider with abilities that are basically advanced human genetics style. The best the brain and body could achieve. But yeah i try to use them differently and most people seem to block telepathy and counter super speed anyways.
Oh and thanks but i have ruined my count now
i have all the powers people hate lol
I have the most obnoxious powers of all time. :P
And then you have Premonition, who when written as he's SUPPOSED to be written is basically the ULTIMATE GOD-MOD.
There is a competitive aspect to RPG that make certain abilities more trouble than they are worth IMO. I fully agree if selling and setting personal limitations were the norm this would cease to even be a discussion. The others you listed can also be problematic, but TP has the most potential for abuse and argument.
If everyone handled TP like you explained, no one would bother with the laundry list of defenses. Too many instances of using one-hit-kill powers to feel "smart", but there is no perfect solution. I just choose to take away the ability to abuse it and move on.
@rain_eclipse_ves: You can defend against telepathic immunity without being completely immune to it. You do have a point about it being an easily-abused power, though. I use it like any ability; it just moves the battle to a different level of existence. Zom and I have some pretty good telepathic battles, and his characters didn't always have any special defenses against it.

In theory I agree with you, but in practice is another thing entirely, it really depends most on who is involved in every example.
Like I said my solution is just what I choose to go with as IMO it is the best of two imperfect options.
@rain_eclipse_ves: Yeah I figure as much, but that's kinda the way I handle my characters personally. I just could not do it without feeling I had some sort of explanation, and even then, I often go the route that means the most trouble, when given the choice (like letting LeBeau break my bow in that fight we had, or letting Strigidae get gassed once). Even with defenses in the past, I'd play it out, not as an automatic shut out, unless blocks were established beforehand, but as a conscious mental struggle.
And there are instances of people allowing some certain things depending on who they're dealing with, like a certain level of trust between writers. And even I, at times, may have problems with certain things if I don't feel there's proper explanation given. But then I usually ask something to clarify or something, in case I misunderstood something.
@rain_eclipse_ves: Can't really argue with that; in the hands of a lazy or abusive RPer, it can be pretty bad.

Could you show me some examples? How can you have a telepathic battle?

Not really , creative and unique application can even make mundane powers dangerous look at @icarusflies: for example.
David did not kill goliath with a miracle, he did it with a sling
@rumbleman_exe: And I can kill people with a mattress. :P
@pyrogram: Sure, the most recent ones I've had were with one of Amaranth's NPCs in the Flight of the Monarchs thread and with Lady Blossom in Elysia. The OP of the Astral Plane thread also explains a bit about how things work on a telepathic level.
I treat telepathic battle like any other kind of battle; it just takes place on a level that has less restrictions. Unfortunately, with more freedom for creativity also comes more potential for abuse, so I certainly can't fault some folks for just not wanting to deal with the issue at all. If you can get two combatants that are on the same page, however, telepathic battles can be unbelievably fun.
