Teams were great at drawing disparate users and their canon together. Without those teams to anchor groups together a lot of times we just kinda drift around in our own canon without interacting with other peoples canon all that much. We're canon islands lol.

@eternelle: Imagine another assassin team that brought all the assassin concepts together. The Strigidae, Sicarii, all the connected characters and random assassins, and so on. Even if the team didn't live very long [and in the TT era it wouldn't] it would provide some kind of link between canons.

I could see this, in a few ways.

But it's also hard to have teams right now with such a lack of users...

@mastermouse: Honestly? It's a lot of work but it wouldn't benefit me that much. The Strigidae and the Arcani are the top assassin concepts right now. Other people benefit from linking to me but I don't benefit as much from linking to them.

Plus in the TT era teams tend to turn into interaction threads for their owner. For me there is limited benefit for that because I've already created the Nest thread; which is basically where you go to interact with the Strigidae.

There's also an emotional aspect to it. Because every team in the last year has failed I get tired of making teams and joining teams that I KNOW are going to fail. Being a member of a team is.. kinda depressing now. Making a team is even more depressing. I don't log on to CV to be depressed.

TL;DR Version: I would do almost 100% of the work but others would get most of the rewards, and its hard to get motivated for something you KNOW will fail in the end. I'd pay the highest cost and reap the fewest rewards.

@strigidae_23: That's actually a really good concept (merging all the assassin concepts into one team) but it sounds like way too much work and effort to waste on something that is most likely going to fail, not because of the idea itself, but because teams, for the moment, are not sustainable.

I like the "isolated blog" stories, but I'm not sure why people dont just post em the fan-fic forum?

@ambrosius: The right way to do it would be to distribute the costs and rewards. Basically the team shouldn't be created by one of the main peeps. They don't have much to gain from investing all that time and work for the short time the team would be active. Instead it would need to be created by someone who would benefit from a short amount of activity; a newer user looking to make a name for themselves, or someone wanting to break into the assassin game. Basically rewards are worth different amounts to different people. A year ago I would have benefited greatly from making this team but now I'd hardly benefit at all.

Their problem would be, as it always is for the newer and outsider players, how to attract the core players. I kinda lean toward a prior commitment from the main assassin peeps. Basically everyone who wanted to make the team would propose their idea, the assassin elite would vote on it, and commit to joining the team and having at least one complete interaction. Which would probably be with each other, linking their canon together, which is what they really want.

That's way everyone would get something roughly equal in value to what they put in.

Because the fan fic forum is not that welcoming to OC stories and if it's about an RPG character, it makes more sense (IMO) to post it to this forum.

That's plausible enough. Newer users are the ones with the most incentive to do that. Hopefully an ambitious one will skim through the thread and catch a glimpse of what you just said. At the very least it'd be interesting to see someone (someone who has something to gain) try to take a shot at it, the concept is really good. It could work :)
