The Dibs Thread

This is a copyright thread on any specific information regarding your character that you don't want copied/Stolen.

Where people can call a specific idea and claim it as their own. Nothin general like titles or roles in the Nu or Prime, but specific points about your character and their history, motives, specific weapons, personal inventions

Example: I came up with a Native American Herald of a Powhatan god. If somebody uses that it's obvious where they got it from, with a post in this thread copyrighting it I have proof of the fact.

Neither do I but it's up

I dib everything else, make your move Vine...

@Sideslash: Now to change it to 'everthing else' before somebody realises I cheated...

I'm not sure what to think of this thread. Calling "dibs" on an idea is rather childish in my opinion, no offence of course. I don't think this is the way to solve certain problems. Just my two cents.

If I can retroactively call dibs on something that was already hijacked, I'd like to reclaim Setekh's 'Desert King' title :p

No, that is not what I'm saying at all. I've had my own personal problems on several different accounts with people taking my own ideas, practically word for word most times. Instead of sooking like a twelve year old girl and complaining, I simply confronted the individual in a courteous and professional way.

Creating a thread so people can "copyright" ideas will not stop others from taking those ideas...in other words, just because somebody claims an idea in this thread, what is to keep somebody from stealing that idea? It's a rhetorical question by the way.

@joeagentofhand1: Yeah. It's yours, do whatever you want with your own characters you don't need to post it here. This is more like insurance on your characters specific key points

Who said it was to stop them? People can make what they want, and add what they want to the copyright list. it's your call whether it's a ripoff of the idea you posted, this is a backup in case that person tries to say they had the idea long before you. This isn't a roadblock it's a deterant

Alright than, fair enough. But why do I need to post key ideas and things to do with my character here, when I can simply put that in my bio?

Like I understand that this will "archive" the information, but after awhile keeping track of all that information is going to be difficult. Like if this thread reached 500 pages for example, and somebody has an idea on page 147. I come up with a very similar idea with no knowledge of their idea (which happens quite a bit), I'm not going to look back through 500 pages to see if somebody had that idea.

I do agree that it is a good start however and I commend you for it. The only problem with the rp section that I've ever had is idea stealing, this will certainly help, however it is not without it's flaws (like anything) of course.

I think a great fix would be to add some sort of "log" to every bodies accounts where you could actually log ideas or whatever you wish to put there and it's all given a date and such. But chances of that happening are pretty well slim to none.

The OP will eventually get exceptionally large after awhile. It'll work for a bit but give it time and there will be a lot of info collected there given the amount of characters on the vine. That's assuming this thread will catch on of course.

Have a character on the vine that is a lawyer and than when somebody fights with another about an idea, we'll have an rp that resembles court haha.

Do me a favor and only put serious ones up, just so I don't have to go through them all
