One Day Ago

Night. Someplace in the middle of nowhere. The heavy air had to be accustomed by the guards as they stood at their posts around the warehouse. The humidity got their pits sweaty and their shirts stained. The grip on their guns would weaken on the account of their sweaty palms. Despite the conditions, the guards were sharp with their sight; they knew what to expect. There were problems in the other locations because of some guy with a sword. With sharpshooters at the top and guards all around there was no way he would survive; at least that was the thought. A silence hung in the air as the guards stood with confidence that the lights would illuminate the area by at least 20 feet, certainly showing anyone who would come.

Suddenly a crackle of electricity was heard. The guards tightened the grip on their weapons. The lights blew out and the guards whipped out their night vision goggles. Everything was planned so that this deal would not get disrupted.

"AHH!"

One down. Guards began to shout at each other, especially at the sharpshooters who were supposed to see this coming. Little did the guards know that the shooters were gone. One by one, a silent predator took each guard out until there was one remaining. The one guard was shaky, turning around and around, fickle on where the guy would be. "Where are you!?" he shouted. A crackle of electricity was heard once more. The guard constantly shifted positions. The lights suddenly came back on and the guard blinded behind the goggles. A gust of wind was felt and suddenly random parts of his body sliced opened. He screamed before being knocked unconscious. The last one got taken down.

The intruder entered the warehouse with ease and took out every last guard inside and shut down the illegal activity going on.

"Three down, one to go."

The mysterious figure headed toward the door and without notice there was a sound. A simple sound in which would eventually lead to an unexpected obstacle.

>Click!<

Present

The compound was ahead. The Unknown Warrior had rode his motorcycle to the destination. From the information he had gathered, there was a stash of drugs being held at the place. The security was similar to the warehouse. Snipers all around, guards at a post and lights shining all over. This would be too easy. The Unknown Warrior would stop just outside the reach of the lights. He would get off and stand with his arm outstretched to the compound and his hands opened. The warrior closed his eyes and started to "connect" with the electric current running through the place. The moment his fist clenched, a crackle was heard and the lights were gone along with the security. The guards were frantic at the event.

The Warrior drew his sword from the vehicle next to him; the blade was massive in size. Moving the weapon in a swiping motion, the blade wielder let out a powerful gust of wind, capable of cutting through almost everything. He waited a moment as the screams died down until silence hung in the air. Sticking his clenched fist out to the direction of the place, he closed his eyes once more and opened his hands, all the lights coming back on again. Mounting his motorcycle once more and his blade resting upon his shoulder, the Rider went to the compound.

Bodies were all around with deep gashes all over their flesh. Blood spewed out of the open wounds. The Rider got off his vehicle at the entrance and got in, revealing nothing. Suddenly gates came down and locked the man inside. This was planned.

Something or someone is here. This was definitely planned.

The trap had been sprung; the target had been as predictable as his file lead him to be. Weeks had been spent on reconnaissance of the target, Alex Kincaid, and now it had paid off.

As the cage closed shut around the target, foot steps eluded from the surrounding darkness, coming out from the surrounding metal-grate balconies. The sound of the thickly clad feet against the cold steel was also coupled with the sound of weapons cocking, followed up by the visual of over a dozen red lasers being trained on Alex. Once free from the eluding cover of darkness, it become readily apparent that these men were no ordinary henchmen; they were skilled and well trained; covered from head to toe in tactical equipment with the latest in military technology. None of them spoke, none of their weapons waivered from their target, none of them so much as even blinked - their discipline was drilled in and taught by nothing but the best.

Suddenly, the eerie silence which blanketed the scene was broken like a rock shattering a pane of glass. It was the sound of clapping; clapping with a lagging duration between each smack which seemed to crack the air itself. His footsteps could hardly be heard as he crept out of the darkness, giving up his powerful camouflage abilities to reveal himself. It was Cadmus Knightfall, leader and commander of the Private Military Company of enhanced super-soldier mercenaries. It was unlikely that his target did not know him, and if he did not, it was likely from ignorance.

His hands fell behind his back - one palm on top of the other hand in traditional military "at ease" style. It reflected his past; a past that hardened him like a moulded piece of armour from a blacksmith.

The organic black tattoo slithered down and around his uncovered forearms; its excitement was quite visible - excitement of catching its prey.

Damn. Over one dozen sharpshooters shining small red spotlights over the body of the swordsman; this was gonna be annoying. The soldier stood at ease a couple feet away from the target. He seemed so happy about his plan and how it was perfectly executed, all that was needed was the one dozen triggers. With ease Alex closed his eyes and imagined the scenario around him.

More than 12 men all armed above and one man in front, any lack of focus on any threat would result in the immediate wound or death. All Alex had was his weapon. The odds were against the soldiers, they weren't in a good position. The warrior slowly lowered his sword. The clicking rifles echoed throughout the place. "I'm putting my sword down" Alex stated as he smiled. "Now I'm putting my hands in the air." A slight crackle was heard and electricity shot from the fingers of the warrior. The blue lightning hit the grates, shocking every single sniper. Some had a good ear and shot at the swordsman but only for Alex to move his finger and hold the bullets in place. There was only one left.

The Electric current stopped and the bullets fell to the floor. A smell of burnt flesh began to engulf the air. Alex steadily picked up his sword, "Tell me where they moved the stuff to and I'll take it easy on you" he smiled, "I can't promise it won't hurt though. And one more thing, who the hell are you and what made you think I was gonna back down?" Alex chuckled a bit as he gripped his sword, " I'm tired and it's been a long night so I'm gonna say it again, tell me where the stuff is. By the way, don't forget the other two questions. You have three seconds"

Three. Two. One. The Warrior ran to the soldier with his blade at hand. Blue lightning crackled around the weapon, with the intent of shocking the body before disposing of it. He could get information elsewhere, this guy tried to kill him that is not nice. When Alex was within the blade's length of the man he would aim directly at the midsection, shocking the body before cutting it in two if it were to hit.

Unexpectedly, Cadmus' men dropped like flies after hitting a bug zapper; their freshly burning flesh an appalling scent to even the poorest of noses. Although this was slightly unexpected, Cadmus' expression remained unchanged and still almost, creepily pleasant. His eyes seemed to gloss over; the living tattoo began further extending its reach over the predators skin.

As his prey ran towards the Predatory Knightfall, a small, nearly unnoticeable grin appeared across his face. With speech just merely louder than that of a whisper, he spoke, "My turn."

The lights began to dim, and rapidly brighten past their capacities; the process repeated, quicker and quicker each time. Then with a bang, they all simultaneously blew, draping the entire facility into darkness. Another voice sounded, it was reminiscent of Cadmus', but yet changed; it was foreign, and chilling to listen too. Something had changed, something very unknown to his prey, but something very very familiar to Cadmus Knightfall. The alien DNA, or as it called itself, the Planeswalker had engulfed his body. Although still in full control, the Knightfall was now a completely different degree of dangerous.

His perfect night vision and senses made the dark not even so much as an obstacle. He began speaking, "You don't know we are do you? ... We are the Planeswalker ... and you are our prey ... we can smell your fear ..."

Each phrase seemed to come from a different direction; one minute he was on front, then behind, then above - he was everywhere at once but yet there was only one of him. His speed, camouflage and wall crawling allowed him to traverse the facility with ease and the darkness just made it fun. He was toying with his prey, seeing what his reaction would be and that would dictate what came next.

The lights hanging above began to flicker with different intensities. It faded only to suddenly erupt a luminous light. Dark. Light. Dark. Light. A continuous pattern that mimicked the steps of the warrior. In between the darkness and the light there was something off about the soldier. Alex only focused on his target but his eyes widened with every flash of light that appeared.

Light. 20 feet away. The soldier stood firm on his place.

Dark.

Light. 15 feet. A dark substance had engulfed half his body.

Dark.

Light. 10 feet. He isn't a man. What the hell is that?

Dark. The blade already began cutting through the air with the electricity crackling around the weapon. Its bright glow being the only source for visibility.

Light. 5 feet. A monster appeared grinning.

Darkness. Only darkness... BOOM!

The blade of the warrior smashed to the ground. Its intensity gave out a small seismic vibration to the surrounding area. The soldier was remarkably fast, able to avoid a blade of this size and also control the lighting of the area. He was indeed a strategist, the black surroundings made it difficult for Alex to see. All that could be heard was the jumping sounds of the enemy.

"You don't know what we are do you? ..." Behind. Alex swung his sword the moment the first word was heard. Boom! Again, nothing. "We are the Planeswalker ..." Where was he? It was worse than an echo, he was at a different location. "And you are our prey ..." What is the point of having a strong weapon if you can't hit the target. "We can smell your fear ..." Alex smiled in the dark, that was it.

"You don't know who I am do you?" The warrior stabbed his blade to the ground, its edge forced deeply into the floor holding the weapon up. "I am Alex Kincaid..." The sword clicked, revealing a sword detaching from the whole. "I have no fear..." and the Swordsman grabbed the detached blade from the side. "I don't exist in this world because I'm an unknown," Another click, another blade identical in size to the other detached sword. "Remember the name 'Kincaid.'"

Electricity ran through the body of the swordsman and circled around the blades themselves. The electric current being the only source of light. Alex's arms stretched out in opposite directions and with his left foot raised up and his right planted on the ground he began to spin. With his wind manipulation the speed of the spin increased. With every second his electric current grew, shooting out and following the form of the movement. Within seconds an electric tornado was formed. The purpose was to weed out the hired assassin by destroying what was around him. If the man survived then Alex expected some form of injury.

Becoming one with the darkness had worked, but for a short while...quite a pity. However, this fight could not be won by the use of simply illusions and trickery - acting like a boogeyman attempting to scare a child that something was beneath his bed or within the confines of his closet. Electricity began to speak in the air as Cadmus' prey began to speak, "You don't know who I am do you?" The forgotten Knightfalls superior night vision allowed him to see his preys sword being slammed into the ground.

"I am Alex Kincaid...I have no fear...I don't exist in this world because I'm an unknown...Remember the name Kincaid." The electricity began to further build in the atmosphere, so much so that the Planeswalker could physically feel it radiating within the facility. The ambient electrons that were now in excess in the air began to visibly irritate the alien within. The engulfing, tar black-like suit began to seemingly jitter, losing its smooth look and becoming like static. With the on-setting weakness from the heroes actions, Cadmus had become distracted and was struck off-guard.

An electric tornado or sorts had formed itself within the facility; bolts began to strain under the pressure as the things they securely held down started to be pulled away. Everything was creaking, bending, and straining due to the immense force of the whirlwind. The electricity began to defect Cadmus' ability to cling to the surface of the ceiling where he currently was hiding. With incredibly force, the wind finally pulled the weakened Cadmus from the ceiling and slammed him into a massive piece of machinery.

He plummeted through the top of it, leaving a gaping hole, only stopping as he collided with the cold, concrete floor. Out of the way of the electrifying whirlwind, the predator immediately began to recover; the black alien beginning to blot out the human skin which had began to show as the alien attempted to hide from the threat of the electricity.

Tendrils fired out from the chest of Cadmus, penetrating from the inside to the outside of the machine, and tore a massive hole with ease. He walked out the hole from within the immense machine, finally coming out of darkness and into plain view for his prey. "You say you have no fear, but yet we smell it from you..." The living suit began to alter its shape, shifting violently across his body, making a slithering noise as it did so. "We can everybody, or nobody. We are everywhere, but yet no where at all." The predator began to lose its menacing form as it reformed it self, shifting to appear as somebody else. His voice began to change, like a teens as they went through puberty; cracking and in irregular sound levels. Then the voice levelled out, as the remaining portion of the face came into proportion. The Planeswalker grinned; its inner predator still highly apparent from something as simple as its grin.

Cadmus raised his arms, welcoming the shock that would come from his prey as he seemingly taunted Kincaid. "You cannot defeat us...we will consume you", Cadmus said as he licked his lips. Standing in front of Kincaid, was a direct mirror of himself. Cadmus had shape shifted into Kincaid; there was not a single, small detail in difference - even his voice was the exact same.

The living suit slyly crept down the back of his arm in the form of one simple, single strand. It ran off the back of his middle finger, and as it began to drip off like water from a facet, with lighting quick speed, it extended with incredible elasticity and latched on to a grenade on the dead body of one of Cadmus' hired soldiers.

Metal bent all around as the wind slowly forced the bolted areas out of place. The crackle of the lightning and the creaking of the machinery echoed throughout the battleground. The ceiling ripped apart, giving a thunderous roar as the debris crashed down upon the concrete, only for the fallen pieces to move with the wind. Though the lights of the room were gone, the moon became the only source of visibility.

The Warrior stopped the moment a ray of moonlight touched the ground. He slouched, breathing heavily. Within a second he fell on one knee, using a blade as a cane. Alex's eyes shook a bit, still trying to adjust his eyes from the constant spinning. Aside from the mechanical movement, he used so much energy to manipulate both elements, but in the end it worked; he had won.

Alex looked toward the main sword, which had been firmly embedded to the ground, and smiled. He was worthy of the blade his ancestors possessed.; he had successfully used the blade and incorporated both of his natural elements to defeat his enemy. With one more deep sigh of relief, the Swordsman slowly got up, using the smaller swords as leverage, and dizzily walked toward his main weapon.

Suddenly his eyes widened. Alex cautiously looked toward his right, there was a sound. A machine laid there, battered and broken, but suddenly it had ripped open. The edges of small tendrils had broken the metal open. The tendrils slithered back inside and his enemy came out; he was alive. The heart of the swordsman raced a bit. This guy wasn't normal, what the hell does he have?

"You say you have no fear, but we can smell it on you..." The swordsman's grip tightened on his blades, but his body stood stiff. Alex's mind said fight, but his muscles remained indifferent. There was some kind of ooze that slowly engulfed the body of the soldier, regenerating what had been damaged.

"We can be everybody, or nobody. We can be everywhere, or nowhere at all." The ooze engulfed the soldier's entire body. In the ray of the moonlight, his body began to change before Alex. Hair grew out of his head, his body had clothes come out of the ooze. Alex's muscles stiffened even more, his eyes widened and his heart raced. He looked at himself. His mirror image grinning maliciously, "You cannot defeat us..." What the hell was he? "We will consume you."

The moment the sentence concluded Alex saw a small threadlike movement from the wrist of the doppelganger. It had latched onto a grenade, crap. A shiver slivered down the spine of the warrior. I have to move! He thought. With the blade, he sliced the side of his leg; the pain was enough to jolt Alex's instincts to his sword. Dammit! He was too late.

The grenade had been thrown with such speed and precision; the grenade hit Alex. With an instant he manipulated the wind to 'blow off' some of the close range impact, but it resulted in him flying across the grounds. Alex skidded across the concrete pavement, scratching up his back and arms; his blades fell out of his hands at the impact. His teeth began to grit at the pain. The clothes on his upper body was in tatters and his flesh burned. The wind had 'blown off' some of the impact; a second too late would have killed him.

The warrior slowly got up, he wasn't gonna die, not tonight anyway. His weapons were a distance away, where he first stood before the explosion. The soldier was there, looking like him. Alex had to get that strange ooze off of him or at least knock him unconscious. The Unknown lifted his fist in the air and spread out his fingers. A string of electricity shot out of each finger like wires to a puppet; that was the intention, sort of. Two of these "strings" were aimed at the Assassin, Alex manipulation of the energy would prove beneficial as the two strings would follow until he had shocked his foe. The other three would aim for the blades. Like a puppeteer, the swordsman would control the blades and aim for the soldier. If the electrical surge didn't work, he had to worry about the swords and vice versa. 5 weapons, one target.

The quick, surprising toss of the grenade had done just that - surprise. Cadmus grinned at the attacks success; it had threw his prey hurdling through the air. He didn't expect the grenade to end this fight - he didn't want it to end the fight. Cadmus enjoyed the challenge, it was something he wasn't normally used to. The black ooze began to shift on his body once more, discarding the imitated appearance.

The black, animate shape moved like waves upon the ocean. It was some what serene to watch, but the darkness that it carried was enough to make somebody feel as if it could take their soul simply by looking at it. However, it did not coat Cadmus in the nightmarish look which he had adorned previous to that of his preys. It began to shape the appearance of his regular, human look; the one he appeared as when he first met Kincaid. Like a skilled sculptor, Cadmus' natural look began to take shape; albeit quite quickly. Now stood the mercenary in front of Alex; even though the tar-like being had seemingly disappeared, it was still present on Cadmus' body. As always, it took shape of a black tattoo that stretched across his chest, back and down his shoulders and arms. It continuously moved, although it was nearly still as Cadmus walked towards his injured opponent.

Cadmus began strolling towards Kincaid, his pace and body language showing a lack of caution. He halted as Kincaid rose from the floor, "Aww I figured you weren't done...this is going to be fun." Noticeably, Cadmus' speech pattern had changed. He now referred to himself as "I", instead of "we". Electricity began to surge from his opponent once more, it buzzed in the air like a high voltage power line. The electricity rocketed towards Cadmus, who remaind still and totally relaxed - he expected it this time. As the two streams of electricity was about to contact his body, his shape morphed. His body seemed to hollow out on one side, wrapping around the electricity as it zoomed narrowly past; his body snapped back into place like an elastic band.

He wasn`t fast enough to dodge the next oncoming attack of the three electrified swords, but his other-half certainly could. With amazing agility and speed from his Planeswalker abilities, he backflipped as one blade went for a strike. As he landed on his feet, the next one was mere inches away. The living tattoo came to life and protruded from his neck like an extra appendage and caught the second sword in its liquid grip. Despite his incredible abilities, the third sword which came in quick succession with the second grazed across the top of his thigh, leaving a superficial wound that caused Cadmus to drop to one knee.

The second sword which had been caught by the living tattoo was dropped. The black ooze moved across his body and down his hip towards the cut. It attempted to enclose the cut and heal it, but the electricity from the blade had altered the wound. The electricity that lingered within caused the ooze to curl back, as if it were a cat hissing. This electricity was going to be a problem.

The ventriloquist technique worked. The blades moved at the command of the swordsman; what was successful was the electric technique used against the soldier. The blade had cut through the flesh of the enemy. Alex stared at the wound, the ooze didn't cover the area, in fact it retreated from the wound. That was it, electricity was key.

Alex remained on one knee, his hand still had the strings of electricity on his fingertips. He clenched his fist and immediately the swords shot back toward him, uniting as one before Alex caught the handle of the weapon with his hand. The swordsman was tired and injured but he had one trick up his sleeve. He stabbed his sword to the ground like before, using it as a way of getting up. The Warrior's crystal blue eyes locked onto his target. He began to close his eyes, focusing all of his energy in one point. Slowly the air around the warrior began to swirl, his hair floated gently as the wind began to pick up. Within seconds any light debris rose from the ground as if gravity had ceased. A flash erupted and the warrior was coated in a blue aura of electricity. Alex's eyes glowed white with slight electric currents running out of his eyes.

Now he was ready, with a blink of an eye he was gone, leaving his sword behind. Combining his wind and electrical prowess, the swordsman was fast. He sped toward the soldier, everything was planned within that run. First a strike at the open wound, then suddenly a strike to the rib, another to the neck. Every movement would be swift and precise with the anticipation of dealing severe blows to the body of the soldier and for the ooze to retreat. After the planned series of blows, Alex ran to his blade and back to his foe. With the hopefully weak enemy, the electrified blade would pierce the abdomen of the soldier.

Cadmus brought himself back to his two feet, standing erect once more. His struggle and pain were apparent across his face; his usual blank, eerie expression now showed a sign of weakness - weakness was not something he was used to. Just as he had regained his posture, his enemy had quickly recovered and began his retaliation.

Small objects which littered the ground began to levitate; Cadmus' eyes squinted as he slightly tilted his head displaying animosity. With a sudden gust of wind, Kincaid sped towards the forgotten Knightfall with incredible swiftness of superhuman levels. Before the attacks landed, Cadmus noticed that Kincaid had left his sword planted in the ground - it was a mistake that his prey was about to pay for quite handsomely.

With the recent observation of his preys lack of special weapon, his ego and arrogance surfaced once more. He actually let Kincaid strike him; once, twice and a third time. The Knightfall could have easily defended himself and intercepted all of the strikes, but he was boasting his confidence like a lion flaring its mane against a threat. Each strike which landed was indeed found to be painful, but Cadmus' posture never wavered. The wounds inflicted were quickly healed by the black ooze; the warrior had forgotten his prized weapon and his strikes had lacked their normal electric charge.

Kincaid had all of his movements planned out and paced carefully, but his mistake was not keeping an eye on the forever unpredictable nature of Cadmus and his unique abilities. After all the strikes had been landed, Cadmus threw his arm up; a black tendril extended out and latched on to the sword which his prey had foolishly left behind.

Like a whip, the tar-like tentacle snapped to one direction and sent the sword flying further away. Kincaid was now back on to Cadmus as he sprinted towards his now relocated weapon. Another tendril released itself from the opposite shoulder of Cadmus. With an animate mind of its own, sensing nothing but Cadmus's thoughts it whipped itself around Kincaid's neck like a boa constricter. The tendril displayed its incredible strength by lifting Kincaid several feet off the ground before yanking him forcefully back towards Cadmus.

The throw spun Kincaid 180 degrees around and aimed him right at Cadmus. As he neared the Knightfall, the Knightfall Bane caught him by the throat with his extended arm. Cadmus pulled him in close to his face so they were mere inches from each other; it was the closest the two had been.
