Chilling Past:
Sandsbury Sanitarium was originally built in 1893 by Doctor Emanuel Turstone as a privatized laboratory. Located just on the outskirts of Putnam county New York it offered the morally reprehensible physician a certain level of discretion free of public criticism. Thanks in large part to the racial sterotypes of the era, many newly arrived immigrants were unjustly jailed and fined. Lack of proper legal representation and the inability to pay the extraordinarily high fines made coercing these miscarriages of justice an easy task. Offered the opportunity to avoid incarceration in exchange for their cooperation in what was presented as, "cosmetic testing," Doctor Emanuel was assured a continual source for his human experimentation. Torturous barbaric practices coupled with crimes against the very laws of nature guaranteed that once you were placed in the custody of the doctor, you were never heard from again. With no immediate family members to raise questions the doctor had free reign to mistreat his human test subjects in any manner he saw fit.
After complaints of unusual screams and a pungent order lingering over the county, investigators were called in making a shocking discovery. Beneath the foundation of the laboratory they found more then a thousand unmarked graves filled with surgically removed body parts. Even more disturbing was the discovery of genetic abominations living in their own filth filled cages. Brought up on charges of unethical acts, kidnapping, and murder, the laboratory was temporarily closed while the doctor awaited trail. However shortly after his arrest Doctor Sandsbury escaped. A month later police were once again called to the location of the laboratory to find it engulfed in flames. Witnesses recalled seeing a man fitting the doctors description entering the building, but never again coming out. The doctor was never again seen. Officially his disappearance was ruled a suicide, but the residents of Putnam county have been plagued by strange and unexplainable accidents ever since.

Finally in 1980 the remains of the original foundation were bulldozed to make room for a new state of the art facility own and operated by a psychiatric doctor by the name of Bastian Sandsberry. Sandsberry Sanitarium would become the new state founded home for the criminally insane. Celebrated for his innovative treatments Doctor Sandsberry's reputation as one of the countries leading psychologists have served to bring a small measure of peace to the residents who still live with the shadow of Doctor Emanuel looming over their county.
Overgrown paths, patios and gardens surround the property with partially restored Neo-Modern interior and retro art and sculptures decorating the place. The basement is a maze of offices, operating and examination rooms, chambers and assorted other rooms, including a top floor kitchen and eating area for staff and below ground kitchen for the patients. An old-fashioned Otis elevator from the main entrance reaches to the top sixth floor down to the labyrinth of rooms in the basement. The entry room to the basement is filled with preserved autopsy and dissection displays while the rest of the dark chambers and confusing catacomb-like chambers are littered with debris left over from when the locale belonged to the murderous Doctor Emanuel. One of the more unique features of the huge structure is the complicated “lock-down” system that seals the entire place up by dropping lead plates over every door and window in the house to the outside preventing anyone, or thing, from getting in or out. Recently though accusations of patient mistreatment, ghostly sightings, and several other unusual occurrences have many believing the very ground in which the Sanitarium rests upon is cursed....
Rules:
To the outside World Doctor Sandsbury as a respected and accomplished doctor. However in truth, he is a sadistic madman obsessed with following the footsteps of his evil predecessor.
As such there is a degree of freedom enjoyed by inmates as they run wild in certain areas of the Sanitarium and often times escape.
