Possesses a "Sun-Tzu Gene" that contains pre-programmed knowledge and skills. Essentially, it is an aptitude gene towards warfare (with some cultural applications here and there). This gene allows him to seamlessly operate almost all military weapons and equipment but also endows him with a basic reflex-based self-defense form reminiscent of the S.P.E.A.R. System.
His ceramic enforced skeleton is roughly 15 times more durable than refined steel with nonproportional flexibility, but still retains similar weight. This means that even though his musculature sports roughly only a 5 ton range of physical strength, his body can support the weight of up to 40 tons with only mild discomfort to his skeleton. Which is why James proves so difficult to kill despite the terrible wounds he sometimes endures.
The origin of the 19 organs is a subject of controversy. They have developed naturally in his body after the introduction of the third strand. However, some believe that the organs have been illegaly harvested from mutants and metahumans.

Ironically, due to trying to be more non lethal, Elliot tends to hold back on opponents, sometimes even they are stronger than he is. This also because he doesn't always know their story and many of his friends became criminals or lived mediocre lives after high school. Many of them resort to crime and he has on one occassion killed a friend from his class.
The nickname "Mr. Progress" was originally created by a magazine poking a little bit of fun at Knox by comparing him to Mr. Clean. He understood the humor and decided to adopt the joke in his advertising.

Absolutely no one knows the actual identity of the recently revealed hacker/activist known only as Dox (short for doxing, the practice of releasing sensitive info to the public). It is an online handle only used for this specific purpose, all other cyber activities are under another name.
Constantly only has access to limited funds as the backing for his operations being almost primarily made up of mostly broke hackers, radicals, neo-hippies, and college students. None of the backers actually know their contributions are going towards this use directly for their own protection, it is pulled from a general fund tied to the fringes of the Electronic Frontier Freedom foundation.
Even though he has the capabilities to easily steal large amounts of funding through cybercrime, Dox does not believe in stealing, even from those he considers corrupt and unworthy of such riches. Redistribution of wealth is not for him or any other single person to decide upon in his opinion.
Nearly all of his equipment is second hand and modified and improved to the best of his abilities. Any electronic device used for transmission purposes is abandoned after a single use so he cannot afford using new or top-shelf tech. In nearly every case he uses tech just good enough to do the job to conserve resources never knowing when his rainy day fund will need to be tapped.
