Prague (Location Thread)

PRAGUE - The capital of the Czech Republic, Prague has always played an important role in the history of the country and Europe. Since the Middle Ages Prague has been famous as one of the most beautiful cities of the world and has been attributed adjectives such as “golden", “hundred-spired", “the crown of the world".

The unique character of the city is also partly a consequence of its natural environment: Prague, similar to Rome built on seven hills, was built on nine hills along the Vltava river, which flows through the city for a distance of 31 km and forms a perfect unit with the city. The dominant features of the city architecture are reflected in the river: towers, church spires and cupolas, palaces and town houses, along with the greenery of gardens, parks and islands.

Prague was founded on the cross-roads of ancient trade routes at a site where the most varied spiritual and cultural currents merged. The history of the city begins with the founding of Prague Castle in the 9th century. Of the original stone buildings in pre-Romanesque style, a basilica remains from the second half of the 10th century, and forms the core of St George´s church. Among the preserved Romanesque structures in Prague, three renovated rotundas can be visited. At the time of the founding of the Old Town of Prague at the beginning of the 13th century, the Romanesque style began to be replaced with the Gothic; the oldest structure in this style is the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia or the Old-New Synagogue, while St Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, the Church of Our Lady before Týn etc. are examples of the prime of this style. The greatest flourishing of the Czech state occured at this time, which will eternally be connected with the monarch Charles IV, who founded the famous Charles University in 1348, the first university in Central Europe. The late Gothic style is connected with buildings such as Vladislav Hall, the Powder Tower and the Old Town Hall with the Horologe.

In the 16th century the Renaissance style started to be favoured by the court aristocratic circles. The first and truly representative structure is the Royal Summer Palace along with many aristocratic palaces in Prague. The Church did not favour the Renaissance art; on the other hand, it was completely taken over in the 17th century by the Baroque style. Especially the Lesser Town is characterized by the Baroque style and the Church of St Nicholas forms a predominant feature of this area.

A number of styles alternated in the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The most important buildings include the Classicist Estate Theatre, Neo-Renaissance National Theatre and Rudolfinum and the Art Nouveau Municipal House and Main Railway Station.

The period of the first half of the 20th century was influenced by the Czech Modern style and Architectural Cubism which was an original style, with no counterpart in contemporary international art.

Nowadays, Prague is an important European city that attracts visitors not only by the abundance of architectural gems the generations of our ancestors left us. It is a place where cultural, social and political events of international importance are held as well as a popular destination for trade fairs and congresses.

The ruckus crowd had begun stomping their feet in unison feverishly chanting in unmistakable Czech having been won over by the foreign fighter. Despite the concealment of his identity through the meticulously wrapped bandaged around his head and face, the underground fight fans had been galvanized by the foreigners strict usage of the Musado martial arts techniques and somewhat flamboyant theatrical strikes. However at the end of the night all the stranger was interested in was gathering his belongings from the upstairs boarding house, collecting his winnings; saving just enough for food and a plane ticket before dividing the rest amongst the fighters he had injured, and leaving.

I was just thinking today, "I'm going to create Prague" but low and behold!

@Quintus_Knightfall: The Electric Executioner carried herself into the bar with a smile. For the past week, she had one goal, a task of taking down a local section of the Czech mafia, this group specializing in Child Pornography and Credit Card theft. They seemed like nice guys nonetheless. She walked in, her sword concealed just lightly underneath her dark leather jacket that had become her rather signature attire as she scanned the room with incredible intensity for the head of said boss, Not knowing another young man, a stunning fighter himself was seeking her in hopes of learning her technique.

@Quintus_Knightfall: She spied the charismatic enigma offering a drink. Her mind raced back between her contract, and him...Something was different about him. His eyes read as though he knew her, and considering she couldn't find a trace of the wealth injected scum in the bar at the moment, she sat down extending her hand, still with that predator vision look on her face "Sure....I'll take a Sake." She said, worried this may not end well

Covered by a long fur coat the goddess paced along the frost-grass surrounding an ominous castle whose towers stretched upward to stand alongside the full moon that shed light over the quiet night. The towering structure stood several miles from the city, however its position on top a hill granted magnificent views of Prague's nightlights once the sun went down. Having been vacant for hundreds of years, the castle's once opulent appearance had decayed to that of miserable conditions. However a small light in the aphrodisiacal enchantress' pale blue eyes revealed she saw the castle not as it was, but as it could be. As winter's scathing winds tossed her golden hair wildly in the wind, a single breath escaped between her lips: "Palatium Reges." Moments later she had been swallowed by mystic energy, transporting her away from the mysterious palace, for now.

"How did he get on-board!" a panic stricken scientist yelled. A singular piece of metal flashing through the air deflecting non lethal tranquilizing rounds as security forces aboard the privately owned Antonov An-225 cargo plane flooded into the research department. A continuous stream of blinding smoke and fuel induced flames trailed behind the Soviet designed innovation as it plunged downwards steadily losing control. Its wheels and landing system having been absent the ground for more then a decade, the unexpected assault from Quintus was about to change all of that. In the center of the lab a human sized container rested undisturbed. Monitors, wires, and visual HUD displays signalling its importance. Slapping a tracking device on its cover with one hand while simultaneously slinging an explosive device behind his back with the other, the Perennial Polymath crouched low as an entire section exploding sucking everything in its immediate vicinity out the gaping hole. Including the container followed by a smirking Knightfall. Spinning wildly rapidly flipping around and around the acrobatic aristocrat slowly began to form a ball, bringing his knees into his chest steering his aerial somersault in a forward direction. And then suddenly flashing both arms and legs out with full extension mirroring the visual posture of Da Vinci's Venturing Man in free fall. Black Polyurethane fabric stretched from under his arms to his wrists and from ankle to ankle fabricating the necessary drag to simulate gliding flight.

"I've got the container's location on screen now Quintus." Updated Ellie, Quintus' twin and tactical leader of the operation. "It touched down just outside of Prague. I've dispatched several agents to secure the location until you arrive. Hurry though, we dont have much time."

@Quintus_Knightfall: Her world spun and shook. Inside her artificially induced comma the project code named 'Eagle of the East' experienced computer controlled dreams. Dreams that ensured she remained passive, yet could also induce her to utilize her mutant powers for the multitude of tests she was frequently subjected too. Dreams that forced her into repeated convulsions to maintain peek levels of muscle, and test the limits of her physical form.

But there were no dreams to teach, or dreams to instruct. When the project was completed her brain and nervous system were destined to be removed. Testing had shown great promise in her neural structure, and there was a possibility she would be installed in a different project, perhaps another set of experiments designed to increase the power of future generations of the Choir.

For now she lay suspended in her bio-nutrant tank, unaware of the events outside its walls, without knowing the course of her life was soon to be forever altered.

@Quintus_KnightfallA curse ripped from his lips. HOW had the stranger got on board the plane? Impossible... wasn't it?

But it was meaningless now. Now the only thing that mattered was finding this man and ripping the life from his body.

Strigidae 34 hurled himself from the gaping hole in the cargo compartment, ignoring the cries of the workers and scientists. Establishing a mental link with the Choir member permanently assigned to the plane and tasked to assisting him. "Scan him! Does he have powers? What kinds? And HURRY!" Mentally bellowing the order through their link as he enters free fall.

..and exits it as his mutant power of flight becomes active.

Quickly spotting the gliding form of the Knightfall below he whips a pair of knives from his vest and hurls them at his target.

The psychic on board the plane attempts to focus, and reaches out with his mutant senses, attempting to scan Quintus's mind and discern what his powers may be.

Caught in the midst of a duel assault, one mental, the other physical, Quintus instantly directed his primary focus on containing the psionic invasion. For even the aristocratic acrobat had no way of maneuvering his body in a manner that would avoid the deadly projectiles. The sting of razor sharp cultivated metal ripped through his body as his back was pierced. Another blade cutting through the customized fabric of his human squirrel suit violently altering his control and trajectory. Resulting in manufactured crash landing causing substantial damage to the Knightfall's arms, perhaps even breaking them. "Ellie I'm down. Off course and the container is nowhere in sight. I'll keep the guardian busy while you secure the package." he grunted. Using his elbows to drag himself forward a long the frozen snow covered ground.

@Quintus_Knightfall: Quintus's mental powers repelled the Choir member with enough force to burst blood vessels inside his head, blood leaking from his nose. "Strigidae 34, I.. was unsuccessful. But his mind is strong, be wary."

Strigidae 34 snorts. "Perhaps it is your mind that was weak old man." For he had little but contempt for those who were not physically peerless exemplars of perfection.

Following the Fallen Knight down to the snowy earth he swoops over him and hovers several feet in front of him. "I don't know who you are, or how you managed to board the plane, but you will pay with your life for such temerity!" Drawing a pair of curved titanium blades, honed to a microscopic edge by a precision laser.

A team of expertly trained assassins and tactical experts disembarked around the target. One female with jet-black hair and bright blue eyes held up a badge as the local police arrived. Quick words were spoken and one call was made to the officer's superior. Samantha Williams just waited, watching his face as he spoke with his superior. It was a mere minute before it was made clear what the chain of command was here. "We'll take it from here, officers."

A cordon was set around the tube and people were ushered away, to little avail. Ellie remained the literal Eye in the Sky in the Aegis, her portable Aerie (Watchtower) and base of operations. She had all of the essential tech for this mission and was wired in. Eyes in the sky with a satellite tracking what was going on at Quintus's location as well as numerous vantage points of the tank itself as her agents converged on it and secured it.

@Strigidae_: "Mercy, please, I beg of you. I didnt know what I was getting myself into." the Knightfall uncharacteristically pleaded. Attempting to deceive the combat purest with a timely illusion. Mentally projecting a shell of his true self with cowardice consignment in hopes of diverting enough of the deadly Court members attention as to allow him to slip inside the nearby St. Vitus Cathedral. Calculating that in his current condition a straight forward confrontation would prove disastrous forcing the manipulative martial artist to rely on his methodical declarations of deceit immersing the Strigidae in a game of cat and mouse.

@Quintus_Knightfall: "Mercy?!" 34 scoffs. "A man does not rise to my status with 'mercy'." With his psychic protection no longer available as the Choir representative was disabled due to his encounter with Quintus's mental power, 34 was deceived by the illusion and his own blinding rage.

With a animalistic snarl he zips through the air, body horizontal with the ground and aiming to impale the illusionary Knightfall through the heart with both blades.

@Ellie_Knightfall: Still trapped in a dream state which had endured for her entire life the 'Eagle' was unaware of the agents swarming the area. They, however were in a position to detect the faint electronic signals of a tracking device implanted in the tubes computer system. The entire system drew power from the Eagle's bio-electric field, a measure to ensure the tube would continue to function even through an EMP strike or long term loss of power.

@Strigidae_: The attack was elegant in its simplistic ruthlessness. Direct and without pause. Wasted motions absent in the Strigidae's perfected strike. Cutting through the illusion causing it to dissipate, the pain racing through the Knightfall's damaged arms enabling him from processing the necessary concentration required to orchestrate his mental capabilities. A small yet detectable trail of crimson spots caused by his nose bleeds traced back through the cotton colored ground up the stairs of the Cathedral. Inside Quintus pushed his fist into his palm with visible strain manifesting a psionic aura capable of rendering most superhuman abilities useless. However the effort had instantly caused his hemorrhaging nose to now expel copious amounts of blood onto the floor.

@Eagle_of_the_East: A group of vehicles formed a caravan around the tank as energy and bio signatures were gathered. Underneath Sam's supervision, it was hoisted and moved into a state of the art transport. Heavily armed, heavily guarded and fitted with technology that not only dispels energy attacks and trackers, but gives off a mental image of a lone motorcyclist, it was the state of the art design for covert transportation.

Loaded in with little hassle, three identical transports left the scene, two acting as decoys as they began the trip to the safehouse that the Knightfall Twins has set up in the city.

@Quintus_Knightfall: Destroying the illusion with a snarl 34's elation turns to shock. Accessing his mental link to his Choir comrade he hears only static, the plane had crashed and his ally had perished in a fireball of jet fuel.

Spitting curses the Romanian born mutant begins searching for the evasive Knightfall, soon locating the blood trail by virtue of the speed his flight allowed. His face locked in a rictus of rage 34 follows the trail of blood to the Cathedral.

Only to slam into the ground as his mutant gift of flight abruptly fails him. Far to focused on his quest for vengeance and blinded by his wrath he does not hesitate, kicking open the cathedral doors and storming into the holy location. "COWARD!" Bellowing his fury as he storms up the blood stained stairs in pursuit.

@Ellie_Knightfall: The tracking signal disrupted the Eagle is transported to Knightfall's safe house without being tracked by any of the Court's electronic sensors. Even were they to tap into any satellite footage they would find their pursuit confounded by the use of the technologically advanced decoys.

Inside the Eagle slumbers. Her violet eyes closed, breathing in an out, an oxidized fluid providing for her every nutritional need. She dreams of geometry abstract statistical patterns, and mathematical conundrums, having never witnessed the waking world to dream of it.

@Strigidae_: Without warning Quintus fired a heal kick towards his pursuers face, gymnastically wrapping his leg around the corner of the illustrious Cathedral's entry way in a stylish display of Taekwondo. His arms gingerly dangling by his side each riddled with hairline fractures, the martial arts polymath is reduced to a particular technique of Chagi (kicks). Peerless balance allowing the Knightfall Ninja to effortlessly guide his center of gravity without returning his attacking foot to the ground to reload. Instead he continuously fired with rapid succession executing a plethora of snapping front, side, and crescent, kicks. Stylishly compensating each hip alteration and accelerated knee bend through one legged corresponding equilibrium.

@Quintus_Knightfall: Nearly the whole of 34's life was dedicated to the master of martial arts. Yet of that time he had only spent a short period learning to fight without his mutant powers. After all he had been raised from his birth to protect a plane in flight, and his mutant power gifted him with freedom from gravity. There was little reason for him to voluntarily return himself to the earths jealous grasp.And as a result the majority of his skills were now rendered worthless.

The first kick caught him by surprise and reflexes honed over two decades told him to throw himself into a spiraling aerial dodge. Yet he was powerless, and the split second of delay was all the Living Legend needed. Quintus's body was honed to physical perfection and his legendary skill was more than enough to fracture 34's skull in a single blow.

Dazed he attempted to defend himself, weaving and twisting, yet without his powers his masterful airborne style was useless and he was dazed by the blow. Ribs fracture, a vertebrae cracks, a sword falls from his left hand as his collar bone is shattered under Quintus's Chagi onslaught.

Only the purity of his fury, and his lifetime of brutal training keep him on his feet at all. Tactical drills from the time he could speak tell him he has only once chance left. Gathering the diminished reserves of his fading strength he makes a single thrust toward Quintus's heart, literally throwing his body forward, reckless, wild, knowing this desperate attack is his last chance of victory... and survival.

The unimaginable will power of a warrior truly fashioned by the ideals of combat perfection astonish the Knightfall aristocrat. Like a professional ball player sensing the tantalizing vibration of a bat after unmistakable contact, every fractured and broken bone caused by his kicking onslaught registers like a homerun. And yet, through the maelstrom of violence, his opponent refuses to fall. Strikes that would have killed a normal man, maybe even a fair share of meta-humans, had only triggered this shadowy protectors battle machinations.

Absent the basic fight or flight mechanics of a normal human the Strigidae presses forward exhibiting only the fight instinct. Collecting elevated strength through sheer mental motivation and importance of duty. Action and reaction moved in stunning harmonization as Strigidae struck and Quintus defended. Playing out in slow motion Quintus began backbending just as the punch made contact causing immediate internal damage though narrowly avoiding the life ending conclusion it had been tasked with.

Adrenalin and the preservation of life allowed the tactically mercurial villain to continue using the momentum of the devastating strike to carry him up and off his fight while the Strigidae, having launched his entire body into the punch, moved horizontally over him in midair. Exerting the full measure of his superhuman speed looking to bring his legs up and around either side of the guardians head before hitting the ground. If successful as soon as the Knightfall's back hit the ground gravity would force the Strigidae's head downward enabling Quintus to immediately lock his right ankle underneath his left knee behind his deadly foes head securing a triangle choke.

Without his powers of flight the mutant 34 was as unable to maneuver as any other being, trapped in the crushing embrace of the earth. And without the ability to alter course in mid air, one he had always taken for granted, he was unable to defend against the unorthodox angles of his opponents airborne grapple.

Slamming into the floor of the chapel trapped within the confines of the triangle choke, he scrambles for an escape, but finds none. Already critically wounded his strength has faded beyond any possible exit. Knowing his foes abilities and superior positioning would enable him to defend against most strikes 34 elects to make one, final move.He draws a blade from his array of edged implements..

..and drives it into his own heart.
