Pilot Ep - Hanging Hoodlums

Yes kids, eat your greens
Yes kids, eat your greens

Today at noon in the Hero Tower building there are a group of powerful individuals watching a Pilot Episode of Nightwatcher, something that will be put in the blu ray DVD set when the heroism takes off. Playing on the projection machine is now a mock up of Paul Harris' corporate alter ego, supposedly an urban 'batman' type because they seem to rock with children these days. Choosing to pick a somewhat leveled character for his 'role' instead or a corporate one because they already have slots taken for sci-fi heroes, Paul was to told to remold his 'powers' to fit the role of Nightwatcher, in this case he sticks with situational telekinesis and telepathy that only works when he is cornered by his foes. The big wigs liked risk and unbeknownst to them Paul had other things to make his character more convincing to the fans.

For his show they have devised a criteria to make him interesting, because he won't be pulling out any 'disney speeches' anytime soon. They market him as the punch first punch later guy, not a great role-model at first but provides a foundation for improvement. They put KO's as in knockouts as one of his criteria, because as a street type who apparently cannot show guns because of the morning time-slot he has to use his fists to enforce the law. He also has to keep up the damage on his enemies, which have already been categorized by the board the big wigs want internal, accumulated and superficial damage so that they can show off their healing products.

No fatalities though because that will be bad for the kids, like how violence has always been more acceptable compared to sex. Striking and situation control as well to provide room for innocents to escape from the danger zone, kids love heroes saving people and heroes beating people. Takedowns, because those things are 'cool' and they look more tame compared to strikes to opponents. The board has advised him to take this route against the opposite gender because it looks more gentle. Finally agression, because they do not want sissies on the show.

Paul whispered to his agent "you sure this is a good idea?' he received a pat and a reply from his agent "relax buddy I have been doing this for a long time, I gots more experience than anybody in the biz". They speak while the fifty second into plays on the screen. It comes with gritty words and a rock techno rhythm that is catchy with cool sounding but provocative words to evoke a sense of seriousness, even though those words are arranged in no particular words and are strobed in between choreographed combat scenes set in camera angles to make them seem faster than normal. His agent, Phil Brasky took several cues from power rangers and batman beyond and the big wigs bought it.

At this point on they will judge his performance with super vigilant eyes and a cut throat criticism, because this is their very first attempt to televise their new batch of superheroes. At the time of Judgement Paul takes his cue and moves along after the room has been darkened. He sits right next to the large screen as he silently breathes, one of the members of the board laughed as Nightwatcher announces himself after the intro by beating up a few thugs. The lady next to him expressed a couple of 'oohs' and 'aahs' after seeing swift hands work across the bodies of a gang of hoodlums. Two fists ricocheting like a pinball, one of the members wrote down to keep the hands a bit slower so that the kids can see them. But the agent noted and replied that they can put instant replay in slo-mo, he even puts in that they can make it look like '300'.

As the show escalates several action scenes are added, motor bike chases with some off screen commentary. The point that Paul and Phil wanted to show is that street heroes have it rough because their enemies are more crazy. Crackheads are tougher because meth and/or pcp can remove their pain while gang bangers can use their guns to point at anyone and make them hostage. But after a series of kid friendly ass kicking, with discretion shots provided by the three cameras that replaces dangerous stunts with censors of onomatopoeia. Spine splitters are covered with a big 'crack' bubble while other actions are presented in shaky vision so that the children won't imitate the action. To 'sell' his role of a street hero Paul took some shots to prevent children from jumping into live fire.

He gave out a PSA after twenty two minutes of head smashing and hooligan thrashing, "Hello kids, remember to stay away from gangs or else Nightwatcher is gonna send you to the hospital" His agent decides to go for the old fashioned scare them good tactic. The show closes witha 'This morning entertainment has been brought to you By Hero Aid™'. The show got the room into a buzz ,so far are thinking of placing the ratings between PG-13 or higher and they are calling several sponsors to place their logos on the costume.

They all agreed to vouch for this idea, though some changes are required. In general Nightwatcher passes their screening, the tech guys and robots are now building a computer app that unifies crime fighting and social media so that the fans can get involved in the act of superheroism. Promoting them to do their part for a greater good, and with added bonuses from subscription fees. Paul hugged his agent and they smiled together as this will be the start to a beautiful career. Now contracts are being made and authorities are being notified, Paul is now officially Licensed.

Nightwatcher is operational.
