@captain_garrick: never mind, found it. You could move this to the RPG section, it'd probably work better there. Also, is there any reason women can't use Coldstone? The whole Coldstone tech doesn't work with them seems totally arbitrary and unnecessary. I mean, my character wouldn't need it, but I could see how it'd be frustrating if someone else would want to use it, and they were female.
@stella_star: It's a problem with the way it melds with the body. Men handled it easier so they chose the men to do it since it was far to hard for women. It's hard enough for men. Part of the problem, part of it, is that men can reach a higher level of strength so they needed to be able to move the moment they cane out the man would have more strength to do so. If that sounds like it won't work I suppose I could change it but I'm not sure.
@captain_garrick: It doesn't bother me too much, especially since my real life self is a dude, but I guess I'm thinking even if ordinary women might not be able to handle it, most people don't roleplay with ordinary characters anyway, so you could just say their character isn't an ordinary woman, and that would be that.
@exemplar: It's explained in Coldstone: reactivated. The people enter the (i suppose i should say) "bed" full of a certain liquid which hardens around them (basically the same thing as carbonite but with some differences) they appear to he inside a "coldstone"
In fact it is so much this way that when the Crags first aaw them leave it they called the Shillies which means of stone. I explained it better in the first chapter.
@captain_garrick: So women can't use the tech because they're marginally less strong than dudes? We're on the Internet, man. You're gonna get some funny looks ;)
@exemplar: No doubt of that, probably quite a lot. There are more reasons, though. But that one is actually enough of one. If they can't handle it then what good are they for it. For the majority of Coldstone soldiers they have to start fighting the moment they exit coldstone and that means they need the strength to do it. They're also effected more by it and it grows through them faster.
@captain_garrick: We've had more badass women than men here, though. I'd put more money on Arquitenens handling it than I would Cheat; she's physically and mentally stronger than he is, despite both being human.
But whatever you say, man. No way I'm getting into a gender-role argument on CV of all places :P
@exemplar: There is another thing I said earlier. It effects women faster, melds with them at a faster rate. So they end up being less able to cope simply because it moves faster through them. As for strength I know a lot of women on here are higher than a lot of men on here. Coldstone only accepts the top so very few men even get in, then again those are human. There can be women warriors but they aren't going through coldstone unless the need is dire. It doesn't even work on the Crags, they just die.
@captain_garrick: Well, it's not like it's real science. In a world where you can control everything, it just loooooooks like a gender thing, even though I know it's not. OOC it just might restrict your activity. Half our characters, perhaps even an entire third of our 15 or so writers, are female. They might not take so kindly to what they perceive as gender-ing it up, y'know? If I were you, I'd remove the restriction just for ease of access. Just my advice though, even if it doesn't count for too much.
@gale_xanders: here's the series. The first chapter explains coldstone itself. I haven't gotten into enormous detail but most will get the point. Members I can name quickly are captain garrick, his team, and dark shadow (John). I use this account normally for anything Coldstone related.
