YOUgenics (a play on the word "eugenics," the scientific efforts to improve a given population by controlling breeding to ensure an increase of the occurrence of desirable characteristics) as founded by Dr. Heinrich Keller has expanded from it's original establishment in Geneva to international prestige. YOUgenics is a corporation devoted to various reproductive pursuits for its clients. It works in close partnership with many hospitals to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and offer services not traditionally offered by other medical establishments (procedures deemed medically unnecessary by emergency services).

The services offered at various branches (ethical guidelines vary by location) include but are not limited to:

His own company mostly centered in Europe, Dr. Keller worked closely with Margret Sanger in her Planned Parenthood family planning initiative in the United States. YOUgenics was later established in U.S. during the 1960's and spurred to relevance by the Sexual Revolution, it is especially popular in the US due to federal financial cuts to Planned Parenthood in recent years. YOUgenics is purely for profit but does accept most insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid. It offers financing and discounts for lower income clients and families.

Apart from its evident image as a family planning corporation etc., it is also engaged in secret genetic experiments called the ALEX Project:

Experiment A scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery.

The ALEX projects (designated by alphabet according to birth and X for female or Y for male) are the genetic progeny of a time-manipulating mutant named Jacque Quentin (Q). YOUgenics was founded by a former Nazi scientist Heinrich Keller sometimes known by the code name Dr. Genetix as assisted by the necromancer and sorcerer, Gregory Rėza (Rezurrection). These clandestine synthetic genetic laboratories utilized genetic splicing, vampirism, synergistic alchemy, and synthetic wombs to perfect the creations. Some projects are kept continually in the bowels of YOUgenics' buildings or in satellite locations often because of their volatility, some escape and others are released into the general population. The original projects from whom all subsequent subjects spawned were ALEX X Alpha and ALEX Y Alpha. Dr. Genetics called these genetic experiments House of Q.

Many of the creations are fitted with a device imbedded within the frontal lobe of their cerebrum, the mechanism set in place as both a safeguard for recall or control of experiments and protection against psionic intrusion.+ If such a device precludes psionic ability manifested by the project, the implant is avoided as was the case with ALEX X Alpha and several others.

I think you're forgetting Scorn. ;) But yes. YOUgenics like creating pretty women. They determine whether or not they get pregnant and can fairly easily pick whichever man they want to reproduce with. LOL

Synergistic alchemy. The mixing of scientific chemistry and the like with mystical alchemy and other magical methodologies. Synergy is a combining of elements to make a greater whole. I kept everything pretty vague because where science is well-defined, magic is not.

I've had YOUgenics as my character history since... well, almost a decade ago. I've used the concept for my own characters, but also gave a backstory for the Triune that was created by Gambler to guard the original Hellfire Club. (Then I sort of stole them. LOL) Rose (Avatar user among others) decided to use YOUgenics as her backstory which we discussed. That was fun. It gave her a connection with my characters that led to some interactions and drama.

The "Here Comes Tomorrow" image was just perfect. I just HAD to use it in my bio when I found it. It's so good, I had to include it again in this blog. It fits so well. Also, thank you. :)

The scrub-wearing man had long since ceased to provide any useful information, and had spent the past few minutes blubbering and pleading in a frankly embarrassing manner with the amazonian alien that dangled him by one leg from the side of the building, as though he were a bag of particularly light groceries. She frowned, her brow furrowing as glacial blue eyes bored into the hapless YOUgenics employee.

It had been roughly a week and half since Jungala had slipped out of Snowbell's apartment, one night while the altruistic young heroine was out on patrol. She felt bad for leaving the way she did; Snowbell had showed her nothing but kindness and was the only reason she had even her limited understanding of this odd planet she had found herself upon, but it was also clear that the incident involving the toughs in Glade City had very profoundly affected her young friend, and she would need some time to herself to come to terms with it. Jun intended to give her friend as much time and space as she required.

All she had taken was a few of Lindsay's baggier sets of clothing (baggy on Lindsay, anyways; they still fit the 6'8" alien rather snugly). She didn't think her friend would mind, or necessarily even notice; Lindsay tended to take a very "free-flowing" method to organizing her laundry. Anything else she needed, she figured she could find on her own. While she was a stranger to this world, she was no stranger to survival, and finding food, shelter, and other necessities was all but second-nature to her.

Her hope, aside from giving her friend some space, was also to demonstrate that, while she may be a killer, she was not a monster; she was capable of doing good and helping people, as well. So it was that she kept her ear to the ground for some opportunity to use her own abilities to assist some human in need. An opportunity soon presented itself, as she overheard a conversation between a number of strangely shaggy and herbal-smelling humans, as they sat sipping at some strong hot drink and inhaling smoke from little pieces of paper (she was still puzzling over what this ritual was all about; her best guess was that it was something medicinal). The wild humans were discussing how some organization named "YOUgenics" was "chopping up infants, and putting all kinds of unnatural things in people's bodies."

Jun was no stranger to this kind of activity; it bore the hallmarks of the Abyssal Imperium, which built research facilities in many places, performing unspeakable acts on living creatures in order to enhance their "science." Clearly, these were the kinds of villains that Snowbell was fighting so hard to protect her fellow humans from; destroying them might be as good an opportunity as Jun was likely to find to demonstrate that she understood her friend's purpose, and was willing to help her with it.

This is what had brought her to the current scenario, in which she was dangling a rather clueless laboratory intern from the roof of a tall building, in order to find out about the nefarious activities of his employer. Sadly, he hadn't been able to tell her much coherently; his panic and her tenuous grasp of human language did not help the fact that he seemed genuinely ignorant of much of what went on within the mysterious buildings of his employer; she had evidently not chosen to grab as important an individual as she had hoped. Well, there was nothing for it; sometimes you had to hunt with the weapons that you had at hand.

Almost casually, she released her hold on the man as she returned her gaze to the YOUgenics building several roofs over, planning her next move. He shrieked rather shrilly as he dropped earthwards, but Jun had taken care that, rather than splatting all over the pavement as fragile humans tended to do, he would drop into a dumpster that looked like it was full of refuse that should sufficiently cushion his fall. Her assumptions wound up being somewhat off, as she had forgotten that most humans did not possess a fraction of Snowbell's agility, and the man's awkward landing probably meant that he was going to need to have several bones repaired, when he eventually came to. At least that would give her more time before his cronies were alerted to the fact that they were being hunted...

Another employee came meandering through the alleyway, cell in hand. She brushed back a strand blonde hair as she heard floundering about in the rubbish. The young woman stepped forward, her heels grinding into the pavement as she approached the dumpster. Her cool blue eyes fell upon a writhing man before darting around to see the cause of such violence. Kicking off her stilettos, she hoisted herself up to pull him out. "Hey, there. What happened to you?" He muttered a few barely intelligible words before pointing around mindlessly mumbling about a giant woman who had questioned him. The woman's eyes narrowed. "I'll get you fixed up." She leaned in to whisper to him. "What did you tell her?" A hand pulled out a syringe from her purse before sticking herself in a vein to withdraw a dose of her own blood. She injected the sanguinary fluid into his body near the broken bones as the man tearfully stammered that he was just an upper employee, that he didn't know anything. "Shhhh. Relax. This will help rebuild the osteoclasts." A pale hand hovered over him, the blood distributing needed tissues and clotting agents. When satisfied that the man had been soothed, she entered a number. It was picked up as she called for security to come and help with the man. "And maybe something stronger." She looked around wearily. "I think we've got a metahuman around."

Jun had not retreated far, and her senses, honed by countless hours spent on the hunt, picked up on the arrival of the newcomer instantly. Cautiously observing from out of sight, she watched the new arrival attend to her wounded comrade without hesitation, while still observing the environment around her, clearly suspicious. It was obvious that this one was much more dangerous than the flunkie that she was assisting, and that likely meant that she would have more information.

Making a snap judgement, Jungala vaulted over the lip of the roof and plummeted earthwards. The newcomer was speaking into what was obviously a communication device (a "cell," she seemed to remember them being called), and it was the huntress' intent to swiftly incapacitate and make off with her target before reinforcements could arrive.

She made a point of landing several feet away from her target; past experience had taught her that humans were fragile creatures, and landing directly on top of one from such a height could very well crush it. She did not give her quarry much time to react, however, landing in a crouch and immediately launching herself at her target's midsection, in a tackle attempt.

Well... Now I need a reason to come here.

The blonde woman sniffed, her body gone rigid, blue eyes bled into glowing vermillion. Balling her hand into a fist, the skin about her hand darkened as blood pooled and exited her flesh into a blood blade. The haemoglobin became more and more dense over a few seconds until a sharp, solid edge was finished. Thrusting herself away from the injured man, she slashed at the oncoming assailant. Her other hand dropped the phone and extended to manipulate the blood inside the Amazonian woman's veins intending to clot it before it could nourish her muscles with the energy needed to continue a prolonged attack. She had no desire to kill the creature; such a specimen could be of exceptional use to the company. She just needed to slow it down, weaken it until help arrived.

"Miss, I must insist you stop your attack. Deadly force will be used against you should you continue to prove a violent assailant."

She had miscalculated. This became apparent as sudden pain seized her powerful limbs. Dropping to her hands and knees mid-lunge, Jungala attempted to force herself through what felt like a sea of suffocating agony towards her foe. She had assumed that the other woman was human, but clearly she was something more, with means of attack that were not apparent.

Volcanic blue orbs burned in agonized fury, as her lips curled back in a feral snarl. "Zzaarch krazzak..." her human speech was subsumed in her rage as she slipped back into Eristian. Her fingers tore small furrows in the concrete of the alley as shaking arms held her unsteadily upright.

The woman’s eyes narrowed as her prey crumbled. She whispered, possibly more to herself than to Jun, “what are you, I wonder?” Gathering herself, smoothing down the wrinkles from the unusual exertion, the doctor kept her mind focused on the woman to ensure she would not be trouble. A black, unmarked van barreled around a corner and from it emerged a group of men in black armour plating with tazers. A man in a lab coat shuffled over to see about the man battered within the dumpster, waving over a few who were not to be utilized in securing the target.

Those who were encircled the tall woman cautiously, hoping the doctor’s haemokinetic method would hold. “Is this the metahuman assailant, Dr. Blood?”

The blonde blinked coolly. “Indeed. Do be careful. She’s a strong one, that much I can tell you.” Though most of their faces were covered, traces of fear might be seen in their eyes or the quivering of their hands. Two reached to secure her arms into metal braces, hoping to repeat a similar process to her legs. Another sought to secure a collar about her neck, the device having an electrical shock within it as well as a potent tranquilizer activated by remote. If they could get her inside the facility, perhaps then they could find out what she was capable of and how to better hold her.
