So, I never felt a personal investment, but a thought did occur to me, as a curiosity. In these KoV things, when you get kicked out, is there, like feedback or anything, some kinda system? I don't mean like a "this is why your opponent made it and you didn't" thing, but like, "general impressions of your writing, what you did well, and what could be improved upon?" And if not, is that because it'd be hard and/or time-consuming or something, or just because no one ever felt like it?
KOV VIII Sign Up/OOC
I have continually asked people to PM one of the judges if they had any questions. These questions can include, "why did I lose," or "how can I do better next time?" Questions like these are something the judges will answer without hesitation, but we aren't going to answer any questions if people don't care enough to ask us the questions in the first place.
Hope this helped. =)
@becauseimanerd: That works; my curiosity is sated. Good answer. ^_^
@paladin_of_the_light: No One was not completely honest with me. : /
@paladin_of_the_light: So the judges are working on your match? Or do I need to send them the link?
@paladin_of_the_light: @icarusflies:
I was honest, misunderstanding doesn't equal dishonest lol :P
At the last post Ruby was nearly unconscious Jaden was seamingly unconscious. It was suggested that if Jaden could get up he would win Ruby being one attack shy of falling over. No post was given suggesting Jaden wasn't getting up making me think Ruby won. Because if one duder is standing and the other ain't usually it means someone won.

No because when the first KOV started it was more along the lines of "which character can beat up the other character?" not so much on the actual writing aspect. So if your battle ended with you basically more beat up than your opponent, then you lose. As you can see, it has grown a lot from that lol So when the tables were turned and it was created as who was the "better writer" (for lack of a better word on my part) giving feedback was never really something asked for, so I suppose they just never did it.
Not to mention it is a lot of work to give every person who is knocked out feedback. It's hard enough getting judges, but to get judges who are wanting/willing to give feedback is even harder lol I think it would be a job in itself just to give feedback.
But if a person asks, I'm sure they would be more than happy to give you feed back. However, if you were to slap 'giving feedback' on the title of judging, it would probably sound like too much work lol I mean... you have to read every single battle (that isn't finished on it's own) and dictate amongst each other on who should move forward and why. To then turn around and give that feedback back (In a positive manner because let's face it, no one likes negative feedback) sounds like a lot work... or at least it does to me lol.
@blooddiamond: You need to communicate with your opponent...especially when it comes to whether or not you need judging.
@paladin_of_the_light: Thank you!
I'd every reason to think what I thought. Judging is for when fights don't end this fight seemed like it did end.
I'm going to stop I don't want to argue with either of you two <3 but I wasn't dishonest and I don't think there was a communication failure. It seemed IC pretty straight forward
Generally judging is for if a fight doesn't end.
4th post of yours Jaden is knocked out
5th post of mine Ruby is positioned for 1 last move, after that though she'd be knocked out and unable to do anything
So what is presented is Jaden seems done, Ruby has one shotgun blast left. If Jaden did anything at all he'd of one. A 5th post would by default say Jaden won, that post never came. Leaving one elf appearing tapped out and one girl still standing. That to me came off as she'd won <.<
So what you're saying is that everything I did is basically null and void because Jaden was basically dead by the fourth post anyway?
Huh, okay.
I don't really mind if this happens :P
That's not what I meant <3
Just that the fight seemed like it ended, one person wasn't moving one was barely moving. <.< I always figured judging was for when fights didn't end though and I'd legitimantly thought this one did
I don't mind it going to judging I'm just saying I wasn't dishonest I thought what I thought cuz everything seemed to back what I thought :P
Also Ruby takes her coffee with "cream and five sugars" just saying ^.^
That's a more accurate assessment ^.^
Az is correct, if an opponent is knocked out, then the fight is over and whoever the last person standing is, is the one who wins and advances to the next round.
Judging is for those who have yet to finish their battle or their battle had a stand still.
That's how it's always been the six years I've been participating in a KOV. Unless this has changed since the last kov..???
@feral_nova: Both opponents were basically knocked out though LOL But an attack from Jayden (Warsman) I assume had already been carried out, so, if that post continued, one of them could have won. None were left standing.
Correction No One was still standing. She had enough energy/stamina for 1 more move. Jaden was at the end of his post unconscious. So you got one person down for the count one on her knees but still conscious. Thus why I thought what I thought. It's fine, but had to make it clear I wasn't dishonest it ended with one down one not down(close admittedly)
@nevermore_: Oh, I get you. Let the judges decide I guess.
When's the deadline?
Round 2 is over, judges are looking over battles now

Actually I can see how she figured she won, because I would have thought the same thing to be honest lol
@icarusflies: did i win round 2?
@mryashimora: I'm waiting on one more match before I announce the results.
@icarusflies: ok :)
I was gonna wait until I had all the results, but I know how nerve wracking it is waiting, so here are the ones I have so far:
Advancing to Round 3
Umbra v. Goliath finished up late, so I'm waiting to hear back on that.
I'm too tired to make stages tonight, so I'll set up match-ups/stages tomorrow.
A really excellent round all around, great job everyone! :)
I can focus on Skellbrieg now. Jaden is canonically done with the tournament anyway, having declared his freedom and all :P
