This thread is where you post the various influences on one of your RP characters(for example if my character is a super soldier I could say his personality is based off of Nick Fury with the powers of Captain America).
For Outcast Al the basis of his character is based off Maxx of the Image comic series. His personality and how he sees the world are based off of Chief Bromden from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
My influences of late have been primarily my own mind lol. But alot can be based on effed up stuff. I base alot of DC on alot of things. He started out being the rage inside me.
But i can say now his actions of late have been a mix of Migi from Parasyte, and Magneto of old.
His personality is that of Lucifer, in many portrayals of late he isn't evidently evil more....watches as bad things happen to others. Thats kind of DC, Lucifer from the comic and from common modern retelling.
The sins of humanity, mutants and kindred alike all drive me to wreak havoc and rage as damnation is what is deserved for such actions and that's what you'll get.
A lot of my story is influenced by the Cosmic Marvel resurgence of 2006, so Nova (Richard Rider) and the Guardians of the Galaxy are big influences as well.
Despair: Honestly don't know. She was an idea that sneaked into my head and stayed there. A lot of people think she's like Raven from DC but I knew next to nothing about the character when I came up with her so... she might be my only original character. lol
Rose is mainly inspired by Poison Ivy with just a few tidbits from me.
Ophelia is the general inexperienced and not-so-confident young hero, she doesn't really have a direct inspirations that I cane point out. Spider Man, maybe?
Her abilities are Wanted, Bullseye and I guess Marrow from Marvel if she was a sniper? I don't really know, I just kinda pieced together things I wanted with my sniper alt.
Her pistol Unicorn is a gun based on an article on Cracked. I wanted to do a gun that was just all the fun/stupid movie gun tropes
Personality is something I just came up with. Someone who's caring but extremely materialistic. A kleptomaniac mercenary both clumsy and egotistic. Might have a bit of a nod to Vash from Trigun I suppose
M-174 and Merkava are very scientific character, who I usually have simply appear mystical. Because "sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. I try to keep them kinda close to reality in the sense that they use purely theoretical technology. Like M's muscles being based off vanadium dioxide, carbon nanotubes and Ultimate muscle from Orion's arm. Which is basically a wiki for a sci fi universe's tech.
K. Eric Drexler for popularizing and drafting out the concept of nanofactories and nanomachinery.
The diamond age (Novel)
I don't really wanna make much up with these characters. More just add creative touches and think of applications. I essentially do a lot of research on future technology and other stuff.
M makes a lot of general religious references/allusions.
He has aspects of other characters. A lot to name. There will be a few pictures
M-174
Utility fog was a concept by Dr. John Storrs Hall so I didn't really make it up. Though I do tweak it a bit.
Walrider is from a horror game called outlast. It's some Ghostly looking entity composed of nano/micromachines. There are spoilers for the game in this and also some gore.

Blade wolf/LQ-84i influenced the voice and personality a lot. Especially since M is incredibly intelligent but flawed.

Others
The Beast (Infamous 2)
Superman to an extent. M was intended to be a sort of thing humanity achieved itself and that would be taught by people to use it's vast power to do the right thing. Or well.
That could have happened. But, things didn't really go that way, with M scaring people and people generally being repelled by him. Causing less humanity (although good intentions for it) and less morals.
IronPhantom: Actually inspired by my PSN ID that I created when I was still in late middle school or early high school, can't remember.
Friends teased that the name didn't make sense, so I molded an identity around the name. Everything sort of developed from there. Chappie previews were also fresh in mind, so I thought to use a robot.
Originally he was going up be a military machine with a cloaking device that just messed up, but I wanted to play a hero, so the idea of a machine that had to take care of humans came to mind. I had to tease out a reason for a machine to do that, so I came up with the whole expedition to Mars thing to create a robot caretaker gone rogue after being denied its purpose.
I also wanted to arm him though, and the military droid would have been great for that, but I didn't go that route, so I looked to repurposed engineering tools, drawing heavily from my recent experience with Dead Space 3.
I order to justify the name I resorted to the "Ghost in the Machine". It wasn't something I thought of until after I realized he no longer had a cloaking device, and I still needed his name to make sense.
Dante Aventus: Dante/King Aventus pretty much has three main inspirations when I right him. When it comes to writing his haughtiness and regal, almost imperious mannerisms, I get a lot of my inspiration from Doctor Doom and Gilgamesh (Fateverse Gilgamesh). From the way he'll occasionally refer to himself in third-person, to his high views on himself, and the moments where he generally acts like a douche to certain other characters. Won't lie, I have a heck of a lotta fun when writing him this way (As I do the other way, but particularly this way).
On the other hand, in his calmer, more casual moments (Such as when he is out on things that don't necessarily regard to him being King Aventus), I'd like to think I take bits of inspiration from Cole Turner, a character in charmed. When I write that more casual Dante, I try to write his ego at a more subtle degree, having more subtly laced in his dialogue rather then outright and somewhat magnified when hes acting as King Aventus. I've tried to have that almost humorous, perhaps even charming nature to that bit of his personality, Still retaining bits of the pretentiousness, but not quite as outright as it would be.
Started roleplaying at a young age at a very dumb website.
Well... I got the name Wheatley from Portal 2.
Wanted something with science I guess, but in the community I was in, they all had the same boring futuristic tech stuff, so I did biological warfare and was inspired by resident evil.
However, I didn't like albert weskers personality, so I wanted someone sorta, crazy and spooky like silent hill crap.

@dreadpool10: Finding Doctor Trager as a appearance began when I just started roleplaying on comicvine, It was super hard to find a good "mad scientist" type of look that blended in the environment of my laboratory setting lol. Before I was using a zombie Enstien look xD
I've had so many great influences( cuz my character are always influenced by the people of the vine) here on the vine. Here's just a few off the top of my head:
1) Ruin Cross- He made me want to write. Even if it was a horrid story. Just RPing with him felt right.
2) R.L./ Kurrent- He's the first person that made me want to step my game up in terms of writing, especially developing your characters the right way. Veritas Inc. will always be one of my favorite periods on the vine.
3) DC- He gave a noob a chance and said noob wrote one of the stupidest scenes in vine history( who would except a pay off of 10 million dollars in the form of a check). I learned to slow down and think after that one.
4) Feral Nova- She makes you laugh, cry, and most important, she makes you think.
