"Ironwood Breaks for No Man."

House: House Onyx

Region: The North

Lord: Kale Onyx

Founder:

Founded: About 300 years ago. Wildling tie 100 years ago.

Castle: Bluesky

Famous for: Ironwood production.

Ancestral Weapon: Finality (Valyrian steel sword) Skullcrusher (Dragonglass tipped and double sided Axe)

The Onyx House is like no other noble family in the seven kingdoms. Their barbaric nature is only matched by their tactical intelligence and savvy business demeanor. Their land is riddled with ironwood forests, the strongest wood in all the seven kingdoms. With ironwood, The Onyx House have made the best weapons, selling them to certain customers to build their fortune. A once weak family, they have become the richest and one of the strongest houses in the north. Legend has it, they made a deal with the devil to make this happen.

History

One hundred years ago the Onyx house were one of many Northern houses that owned Ironwood. They were also the weakest and smallest of the many Ironwood Northerners. At the time, not yet reaching their now level of tactical prowess, they were the last to realize the power of Ironwood. Because of this lack of foresight, they were the first victims during the Ironwood War. The Ironwood War was a battle between all of the Northern Ironwood owning houses, the winner would claim all of the Ironwood.

Realizing that they stood no chance, Brandon Onyx, the then lord of Onyx House, lead a party to the haunted forest beyond the wall, the origin of Ironwood. It was a hellish journey to the forest, Brandon being the only survivor to actually make it to the forest. When Brandon Finally arrived, he prayed to the old gods to deliver him the victory his house desperately needed. Unannounced to Brandon, his prayers were answered when he was captured and tortured by a now forgotten wildling clan. Brandon agreed to secretly take the wildlings into his house and sully his bloodline if they gave him the victory they needed. "Better to muddy the bloodline then to let it dry out."

Brandon led the small army of wildlings back to the North and one by one each Ironwood house fell and with each fallen house, the wildlings knew a special ritual that would burn Ironwood, causing blue smoke to engulf all of the Northern sky. That day is forever remembered in the name of the Onyx Castle, Bluesky.

The next hundred years, the noble family intertwined with the wildlings by marriage, giving birth to the Onyx house we see today. Rumors have traveled throughout Westeros of the Onyx bloodline, but due to no proof they have dealt with no real consequences on the matter.

Ironwood

Ironwood is a tree found in the Bluesky woods, located in Northern Westeros. It is also located in the haunted forest beyond the wall. Ironwood is the hardest wood in Westeros and is black. All of the Ironwood is controlled by the Onyx house. The Onyx house use the wood to forge the best wooden weapons in all of Westeros. Ironwood is as strong as iron with only half of the weight. It is also impervious to fire, making it perfect for ship material. They sell to a very small list of cliental. If someone wants to buy from them, they must ask in person. The Onyx house is the only noble family capable of burning it.

Bluesky- Seat/Castle

Bluesky Castle, the Castle of the Onyx House, is named after the final battle of the Ironwood War. Blueskys walls seem endless, covering several acres. Villages are littered around it's walls and a Godswood is set in the middle of it, for prayer. There are courtyards throughout the castle for weapons training and merchants. Their is little to no crime, due to the laws lack of tolerance for breaking them.

The Onyx Bloodline

No Caption Provided

Flynn Onyx: Lord, NPC.

The lord of The Onyx House. He is an old and withered man that barely leaves his room unless it is to make deals for his Ironwood . It is rumored that he has sickness of the brain. He's done nothing notable with his leadership. He is the grandson of Brandon Onyx. He is the owner of the Onyx Valyrian steel sword, Finality. He does little with it.

No Caption Provided

Victor "Bear" Onyx. : First son.

Victor Onyx, who is known as Bear, is the first son of Flynn and the next Lord of Onyx house. He is 6'5 and his weapon of choice, when he's not using his fist, is the ancestral axe, Skullcrusher. Skullcrusher comes from the wildling part of his family, it is double sided and tipped with dragon glass. Bear is tactical and strong, but his greatest weakness is his short temper. He is sought after by most women, but he finds little interest in them and would rather be in battle. Bear has inhuman like strength, thanks to his wildling heritage. He is quicker than he looks, but he mostly relies on his brute force to take out his enemies. His short and angry demeanor is only broken by one person, his first sister Evelyn. When he and his sister were just children, they were attacked by a pack of wolves. He crushed the wolves heads with his bare hands. This is where he got the nickname "Bear" and after that day, he promised to always protect his sister, Doe. She is the only person he truly cares for and respects. A long road is set before him in the years to come.

No Caption Provided

Evelyn "Doe" Onyx: First daughter.

Evelyn “Doe” Onyx is the second child of Flynn Onyx and is known for her opposite calm demeanor than her more aggressive brother, Victor. She stands 5’6 and wields the family Valyrian steel sword, Finality, and an ironsteel shield she created herself. Evelyn is also known for her impeccable Ironwood shield making. It is rumored across The North an Ironwood shield created by Evelyn can withstand an entire army of wildlings. Evelyn was given the nickname ‘Doe’ by her mother for her fast reflexes, amazing speed and uncanny awareness of her surroundings. The nickname stuck even after the death of their mother.

Unlike Victor, Evelyn relies heavily on her speed and agility rather than strength. She is known to strike a target multiple times within seconds.

@bear_onyx:

I'll send Ganter here later.

It's kind of sad because he's just a puppet for his uncle, the king, to exercise power in the vacuum left behind after his failed rebellion. And Ganter doesn't even realize it.

They launched a rebellion against the crown ten years ago, but are trying to "make amends" according to Ganter.

Thalin, the King of the Iron Sea, is planning something nefarious though.

"Father, why has King Thalin only entrusted me with diplomatic missions? Surely I have more than that one use,"

Vannis did not answer his beloved son straightway. The legendary warrior of the Ironborn had been fighting for decades against the peoples of Westeros. Only now did he seem to be defeated, and in the wake of a new policy by his brother - the king. There were three sons one day, one destined to rule, one destined to run, and one destined to fight. Euron had the pleasure of chasing the high seas while Vannis spilled blood and Thalin wore the Iron Crown.

Of course, Vannis did not envy Euron. The wild one of the Kurdain patriarchs had perhaps the most dangerous lifestyle of any of them, in that he had no set lifestyle, a hurricane of adventure and piracy. But Vannis understood that none of them possessed the potency of politics. Thalin once marched through Westeros and almost sacked King's Landing. Vannis helped him, and the Sargosi Massacre was on his hands. And Euron almost lost his other eye to a certain son of the King of the Seven Kingdoms, but managed to kill him before that happened.

None of them were eligible for making good on the rebellion. Except, Vannis had the advantage of having a son first.

"You are my son, Ganter,"

Thalin recognized this easily, and sought to exploit it.

"You are going to be a fine diplomat and mapmaker, a navigator without compare,"

The deeper Ganter's naive fingers were in the false friendships and alliances of other houses, the easier it would be to either turn them to their side or crush them once the Iron Sea turned black with longship sails again. At least, that is what Thalin perceived.

He did not understand that Ganter would do two things. He would take these diplomatic missions seriously enough to try and make actual friends in the process; and he would continue to pursue a warrior's life with his father.

"But I don't want to be something like that, something the story books neglect. I want to be like you father, I want to lead from the front and fight glorious battles!"

"There are no more battles to be fought, at least not for us. We are done fighting. Now go! Display our colors so that our peace will be known. The king has grown tired of war,"

Ganter sighed, but he knew his purpose, perhaps greater than even Thalin could warp it.

"You're right father, as you always are. I shall go to Bluesky, and make amends in King Thalin's name,"

"Aye, you're getting the hang of it," Vannis sighed. He hated lying to his son, but he had to. Plans needed to be made. Friends bought, enemies spied upon. War was coming to Westeros.

All at the expense of his own son...

The first son of Flynn Onyx; Victor "Bear" Onyx, stepped out of the halls of Bluesky. Bear stepped onto the courtyard deck, looking down at a dozen or so newly traded soldiers of Onyx house, who were training with ironwood sword and shield, bow and arrow, spears, and all in between. Bear's 6'5 stature cast a hulking shadow over the men in arms. His appearance did not go unnoticed, causing each young man to stiffen up and try their best too impress. Bear's body was mostly covered with boiled leather armor. Thick armor that was boiled and perfectly shaped for each muscle it protected. He wasn't a fan of metal based body armor because it slowed him down. Every second one lost in battle could lead to ones death. Draped over his shoulder was a bearskin pelt, perfect for his namesake. Bear rested his hands on the ledge, tentatively watching each soldier as they trained. His fists were wrapped with bloodstained cloth, the blood was not his own. Bear was known to be quite the 'hands on' teacher.

Bored of what he was witnessing, Bear hopped over the ironwood deck with surprising agility. He landed with a very loud thud, intimidating the men even more. Grabbing his bear pelt, he threw it to the side and revealed his double sided axe, which was strapped to his back. The courtyard was bone chilling, but he didn't seem to notice as he looked each man up and down. If they didn't know before, each now realized why he was called bear, thanks to his intimidating stature and demeanor.

"Is this a game?" He asked with a gruff whisper. "I ASK YOU ALL, IS THIS A GAME!?" His whisper transformed into a roar, shaking each man to the core, as they stared down at their boots. "What I look down upon is scene of boys playing at being men. Boys in their fathers boots, boys clumsily wielding their fathers weapons. Boots too big for their feet, weapons too big for their hands." He walked back and forth, making sure to look deep into each soldier before him. "Now none of you could take me in a fight alone." He stopped, pulling his axe off his back. "But there is no need to do so. You are training to be an army and if you are what you claim to be, an army beats one man...every time."

And with that he picked up an Ironwood shield and brandished Skullcrusher, his dragonglass tipped, double sided axe. Each man had a mixed expression of confusion and fear, but one by one they took a battling stance. "Come on." One man charged at Bear, clumsily swinging his sword for his future lords neck. Bear easily leaned backwards, dodging the blade by about six inches. He swung his axe, catching the man's ankle with the dull part of his weapon. Simultaneously he hit the soldier in the back, sending him into the ground hard.

Another man attacked Bear, this time thinking smarter and not just charging in. He swung and thrusted his sword, but Bear dodged and blocked each hit with ease. This time he swung his axe up, smashing the flat side into the second soldiers face, causing him to crumble. "Come on, you're playing at being an army. START ACTING LIKE ONE!"

The men obeyed, three charging at him this time. The rest watched on, not wanting to get in the way of any blades or shields. "That's more like it!" He roared with laughter, blocking one sword with Skullcrusher, then another sword with his Ironwood shield and sent the shield after the third man's jaw, breaking it. Bear tripped the other man with his axe again, stomping on his chest as he threw his shield at the third man, knocking them out simultaneously.

"I'm very disappointed, COME ON!" This time Bear threw his axe's blade into the ground, raising his blood stained, cloth covered, fist. The men were determined now, believing their futures lords lack of weapons gave them the advantage they needed. They didn't even think about their future lords safety, swinging for killing blows every time. Still, they were not fast enough, as Bear weaved and dodged, not even trying to go on the offensive just yet. Instead he danced around their attacks, actually causing a couple of the men to slam into each other.

His body was almost steaming, being outside in the cold weather with some of his skin actually showing. Still he didn't feel the cold, only the blood pulsing through his veins. Finally The Bear went on the offensive, locking his bicep around a soldiers arm and sending his giant fist into his face over and over again. He threw that man into another, sending a spinning back fist into a man coming at him from behind. He then grabbed that man, picking him up over his head with ease. Chuckling to himself, he found himself distracted, allowing the men to draw their first and only sight of his blood. A sword sliced his bicep, leaving a small gash and causing a little bit of blood to stain the white snow under him.

The sight of his own blood mixed with his mistake made him very angry, causing him to throw the man over his head at the last men standing. Bear turned his sight on the man who had cut him, charging with the ferociousness of the animal he was named after. The soldier clearly wet his pants as he tried to thrust his sword into the beast coming his way. Bear caught the ironwood sword between his palms, ripping it out of the terrified soldier's hands.

He threw it to the side, grabbing the soldier by the throat and sending his much thicker skull into the soldiers own over....and over....and over again. The men looked on in fear, while Bear's Axe, Skullcrusher, seemed to be looking on with pride. He threw the man to the ground. "Get him a doctor." He furiously walked back and forth, the clothe on his hands newly wet with the taste of blood. "You are NO ARMY! Thank the gods this isn't a time of war because the enemy..." He looked down at the broken man. "Won't be so easy on you all."

It's a bit more in the armpit-ish area of the map.
