Solaris was crouch down with one hand on the ground for balance and the other examining a small puddle of blood. Most of the people in this small town in Noc Haven had ignored the puddle, if they had even seen it at all. There had been some rain earlier in the day that had done its best to scatter the puddle but it lay under a bit of an overhang from the building on its right. In the small dark alleyway between two high rises it was out of the way and in the darkness of night the alley was the sort of place most people would avoid. Glancing up above her at the little overhangs and balconies she guessed that the homeless tended to spend their time here when it was raining. They never pay attention to the homeless. Easy victims for depraved minds.

Solaris sighed softly and washed her gloved fingers off in a puddle of water. "I am sorry." she told the puddle of blood. If only I could be everywhere...if only these people had more protectors looking out for them. I wonder if it was even reported? Solaris's senses were not exceptional, no more amazing than an ordinary human's, so she had no way of knowing that someone was watching her from the darkness around her. Even with the light shining from her eyes the area was still very dark, this was an area of town that people avoided and its street lights had not functioned in some time. It reminded the Living Star of the streets of Gothic.

Solaris stood, still unaware that she was being watched. To her observer she was an obvious hero type, the sort that spent most of their time telling kids not to do drugs and to stay in school, the type that could be a lot of fun to spend hours torturing until they broke. Of course no observer, talented or otherwise, had any way of knowing just what Solaris was, she was no mutant, she was a living star, the embodiment of an ancient stellar body that had exploded in the distant reaches of the universe. The sentience of the star had moved on and assumed a new form. All of that power was wrapped into her frame, barely contained at times.

Solaris was for the moment completely unaware, an attacker might be able to land a blow before she could retaliate or avoid the strike. Though she was learning martial arts practices, she had not come to Earth well trained. Her power and ability was improving with every passing day but she was not anywhere near a top fighter, so her senses were not yet trained to the level where she could never be surprised.

The reason for her lack of awareness at the moment was her consideration of the blood puddle. Back at The Strip there had been information coming in from their Ryan in Noc Haven that people had been disappearing here, usually the sorts of people that no one would miss right away. Staring down at the puddle of blood she couldn't help but consider the circumstances...a dark alley, a town no one liked going to and a bunch of homeless people. It fit the pattern. I wonder...a serial killer or something else? In a place like this it could just as easily be some sort of mutant predator.
