“Good and evil are two sides of the same coin, and the evil side has his face on it."

The sorcerer Angelus’ dream was to create what he believed would be the ultimate hero. He spent years working on this project, and after much work and risk his creation was finally complete. He called the being Skytale. Skytale was not just the perfect man, he was beyond perfection. Feats that ordinary humans would need a lifetime to achieve came naturally to Skytale. He required no training to match the strength and speed of even humanity’s greatest warriors, his resistance to injury, poison, and illness was remarkable, and there were few who could challenge his intellect. Angelus also gave Skytale the power to change his appearance at will. All these combined were still not enough for Angelus. He wanted to make sure no villain could surpass Skytale.

Hecta was the self proclaimed Master of Memories. In her realm was a place called the Mind Vault where she hoarded magic crystals containing the memories of countless mortals. Angelus infiltrated the vault, something few could have done, and stole hundreds of memories belonging to long dead heroes. Many of these heroes were so infamous they were thought to be only legends. Angelus gave Skytale these memories, giving him access to more knowledge and skill than any ordinary human brain could even contain. Skytale might have become the hero his creator intended him to be if not for one mistake on Angelus’ part.

Angelus wanted Skytale to be strong not just in body, but in mind. He gave him a Quiet Heart. The Quiet Heart was a curse Angelus created that dulled the emotions and made it difficult for them to overcome reason and logic. This was meant to make Skytale fearless and incorruptible, and it did this. As an unintended side effect, however, it also destroy his sense of empathy. Angelus had created a dangerous sociopath, and he soon realized it. Skytale realized it first, though, and he knew his creator would turn on him.

When Angelus tried to destroy Skytale, Skytale did not resist. Rather, he deceived Angelus and faked his own death. Skytale escaped while Angelus breathed a sigh of relief. His relief was short lived, because Hecta soon came to reclaim her stolen memories. Angelus’ answer when asked where they were infuriated Hecta, but she calmed when she sensed a powerful presence nearby. She and Angelus went to investigate and saw Skytale escaping. Skytale knew he was no match for both of them, so he fled.

Hecta made a deal with Angelus. As punishment for stealing from her Mind Vault, he would become her servant until the memories were returned to her. Hecta would also help him destroy the Frankenstein’s Monster he’d created if he was loyal to her. Angelus agreed and the two went after Skytale. Meanwhile, Skytale was looking to gain more power and influence. Along the way he met a wicked young girl named Tiffany who became his right hand woman and loyal disciple.
