now i need to find out how to make an alt....

#103 Edited by EdwardWindsor (14428 posts) - - Show Bio

@ragman1138: as i said mate doesn't have to be an alt just add a small section to your bio explaining there is a version of this character in each universe. making an alt will take another email address and building a whole new account. For the sake of speed do yourself a favor and just add a small post in your bio and use this account. As you said in PM its mainly for interaction so save yourself sometime.

Plus they bumped the count up to 25! I am not happy!

@schlampe: Dam that's not cool. There should be a way of tieing all you accounts under your main so the site knows your a trusted member but doesn't wipe you account like when i paired my Arthur windsor account to this one.

Question:

Back in Prime there was the well established Power Scale, it was far from perfect but it at least gave people some idea as to how to sell another's ability or respond to it's use.

I do not see any reference to it in the CVnU, has it been completely abandoned? IMO it or a variation still has a use. Bios that list abilities even in detail many times to not really give a clear picture as to power level.

An established tier or power scale would seem to be relatively simple to establish and impliment, and the small effort would probably do wonders for no and underselling issues.

Comments welcome.

@armistice: Do you have a link? I dont remember a power scale.

@gambler:

I am just going from memory, it was the simple 1-7 power scale like the one used in the character cards in Prime.

I think it was in the Prime rules, how-to, or canon thread.

@armistice: How long was it etc...? If we cannot find it. What if a new one is made?

@gambler:

It's not the greatest, but it's better than the guesswork that goes on now

Let's see if anyone else makes use of it.

@armistice: @gambler: Back in my journey around the internet's RPG sites I found one thing the Anime sites did well was create really good and clear definitions of power levels. Anime Vice's power chart is, and I hate to say this, better than ours.

Of course we have CV Cards and they don't hehehehe.

@gambler: The CV Cards? They are awesome. I've got my Liberty card saved on my hard drive and backed up in two separate zip drives just in case!

#118 Posted by The_MVPs (84693 posts) - - Show Bio

@amaranth_strix: I have one or two saved somewhere. And I agree, they were badass.

I think the power chart used by Prime could be easily improved upon beyond the Marvel trading card derived version. (Base 10 rather than 1-7 to start)

Never had one made for me but I have to admit they do look pretty awesome (not even sure who does them actually)

@armistice: The Wanderer/Isaiah was the last one making them but I do not believe he is still in business.

@armistice: Base ten would be a big improvement.

Iza does them. Not sure how to spell his full name. He isn't around a whole lot but he does brilliant work when he is around.

#122 Posted by Armistice (4105 posts) - - Show Bio

@amaranth_strix:

For example, if you look at the current grid, anyone with strength over 100 ton is a 7.

Armistice is barely above that threshold (barring diverting power or removing safeties) so he is technically a 7 even if by a thread. Then there are characters who can lift hundreds or thousands of tons who would have the same score. At a cursory glance they look equal when they are miles apart.

Some of the scores could use a little more spread to differentiate between high-tier and god/cosmic tier.

Fun fact, the CV cards were originally Gambler's idea.

Really? I dont remember that but I will def take credit for it. Bow before my awesomeness once again.

@gambler: Well technically you sparked the idea and I just ran with it. It was during the era where we were all doing up team pages big. Trying to one up the other team by making them look more awesome. It wasn't enough to just have a picture and a name. Now you needed a picture, name, and a paragraph about your character. Then it escalated to grids, then profiles, then entire cards.

Butterfly effect or something or another. xD

@tank_: hahaha I remember that sh!t now. The competitive fires fueled greatness in those days.

@armistice: That's true! I think it works better in Marvel where strength levels are more normalized, but in an environment like CV where anyone can have anything it doesn't work so well.

The problem is we can use 1-10 but no matter how high we make 10 there could always be huge variation in the top strength stat because it represents an infinite number of values. Perhaps a 'Cosmic Tier' would be better.

Nothing will be perfect, but a slightly modified base 10 stat chart and a tier chart (street, low, mid, high, god/cosmic) would take 10 minutes for someone to add to their bio and give anyone involved an easy way to get an overview of who they are dealing with.

#145 Edited by Amaranth (8210 posts) - - Show Bio

@armistice: The only question is, whose going to make it?

Hurm. Not everybody is pleased to find out that every single thing they do or say is being dictated by some guy on a computer, and that, even if you break the rules, the guy controlling us is following them. But I guess this knowledge is useful, isn't it.

Where the hell am I right now, anyway? How am I communicating with everybody that exists at once. How does this work. Goddamnit, now I'm confused. I'm going to go to sleep. No, I don't care that it's only four. Mr. God man with the keyboard can make it three in the morning.
