The night after the fae-touched girl's meeting with Bers had been an oddly quiet one, the usual sounds of street violence and gunshots being absent... but Ophelia didn't notice, she'd been busy putting the old base back into order for the new team's arrival, something she was very excited for. The day was spent getting the old building's defenses back in more proper working order, as well as making sure the Danger Room was ready for new train-ee's. Perhaps her eager working across the building had been what had created the rumor of the team reforming, or maybe it was just the fact that she'd been kicking criminals trying to get inside to the curb all week... regardless, it had created a situation that the fox hero wasn't prepared for.
"Oh, what is it this time?" She muttered to herself as HQ's now online alarm system started wildly flashing and blaring, giving up on cleaning up the mess in the kitchen and running to the operations room. Upon stepping into the dark space full of monitors, her hazel eyes widened... the cameras were picking up on hostiles: LOTS of hostiles, that clearly weren't Gothic's average fodder of thugs and angry mutants.
Quickly darting to the keyboard, she typed away, trying to get the defenses online as fast as she could, but before she even finished the command she could hear windows shattering around the building... the thick metal barriers eventually closed over any traditional entrance, but they were already inside, and she was alone against an untold number of foes who had come here expecting a full-fledged superhero team... "I hope Bers finishes packing soon."
The young hero had barely peeked her head out of the door into the hallway before a strike came her way, a clawed hand almost tearing out her throat had it not been for her quickly reflexes, instead it going just past here shoulder. Immediately latching onto the enemy's wrist and twisting it viciously, she swung the figure around by his arm and slammed him into the wall, surprisingly getting only little more than a grunt out of the mysterious reaper.
She was pulling her fist back for a superhuman punch to her foe's masked face, but was halted in her tracks as she felt razor sharp nails slashed across her back twice over each other in an X-pattern, tearing her hoodie and skin into a bloody mess. Looking over her shoulder and baring her fangs at yet another masked opponent, she swung her tail straight at him- he attempted to block the attack of course, but seemingly wasn't prepared for a such a heavy hit to come from something so nonhazardous looking and found himself being easily smacked aback, tumbling down the hallway.
"S-serves you right..." Ophelia muttered under her breath, stumbling backwards away from the first reaper, visibly wincing in pain. She'd been slashed, stabbed, and shot several times before; but this felt different and several dozen times worse... she almost thought she could smell something wrong in them when her initial enemy charged her, one of his clawed hand's coming straight for her face.
Even in her pain, she was able to catch the attack mid-swing mere moments before it had landed. But in her weakened state, she didn't notice his other hand jabbing straight forward as it impaled itself in her gut, a strike that sent a bestial yowl of pain from her throat. Extending her own deadly claws, she slashed down upon the reaper's hand, slicing it right off at his wrist as it remained dug into her middle. Swinging him by his still intact arm, she threw him violently straight at his friend down the hall before running down the opposite side.
Normally she'd be able to get from one side of the building to the other in only a few moments, but as she pulled the remains of the reaper's hand out of her gut, she could feel herself weakening... and that's when she realized what that awful stench was. Poisons, toxins, some deadly mixture's aroma surrounded her opponents clawed fingers... she couldn't tell what kind it was, but she could tell that it was making her feel terrible and weak. Tossing the bloody body part away in disgust, she stumbled down the hall as quickly as she could, already hearing the sounds of footsteps converging on her as she prayed for some kind of miracle to give her a fighting chance.
