Swamp Land / 12:50 AM
“Ahh, help me…”, a yelling grunt escaped the man’s quivering lips. As he held the moss covered swamp tree, which vibrating from his trembling cry of pain, he heard the cracking of his bones. With his eyes close to the misty lake that he was left at, he tried to hold in his torturous pain. His mind was flooded with memories of previous events, as his mouth became filled with fresh blood. As his eyes started to tear up, he saw the events of his last scientific experiment.
A clearly white lab room, filled with tubes, condemned a working scientist. Studying the mixer of cold and warm blooded predators, Doctor Denton was very hands-on about the experiment that he had been studying to years. He stared into a thin tube of green liquid. Holding an identical tube of blue liquid, he poured the green fluid into the blue, causing a bubbly reaction.
Immediately, out of pain, he awoke from his light dream, to feel his spin forcefully stretching. He started smelling a strong aroma of swamp dew. His body temperature dropped to an extreme low, lower than that of the environment, which was already stingingly cold. Lying against thick tree bark, he felt his shoulders pop apart, causing him to yell full-out as he lied in the muddy water of the water-soaked area, “OW GOD, the BURN!!!”.
Gripping at his gut, with all of his weary might, the doctor’s cried in torture. He moved onto his back, lying on his back; he trembled from his body’s frightful transformation. As his skin began thickening, he gazed at the moon, trying to ease his mind, before he was engulfed into another flashback.
“Sir, we have limited resources and funding… ”, a black haired assistant stated to the doctor, as he held the finished serum; rushingly, the finger curled baring assistant spoke, “You should test the serum on yourself…be the prime example of your own testing, Doctor. When we succeed, you’ll be the proof of it…”. As the doctor stared at his help, he grew mildly worried of the possible downfalls…..
“AAHHH!!!...ah ah, AH!”, the wide eyed doctor screamed as his mouth and nose started protruding into a snout. The physics of the act was so unbearable, as he halted in his scream, “Please, God, make it stop!!!!!”. His throat grew, along with his body, longer and more humanoid shaped. His vision became blurred with moisture as his hands and feet stared growing largely sharp claws. With a jerk of his boned realigning, he dug his claws into the thick bark, as he howled in pain, with short spurts of deep growling cries.
Now resembling a reptilian werewolf, his scaly skin started sprouting thick chunks of fur. His mouth opened in agony as a few of his teeth became razor shape, and inches long. Gawking at the full moon, Denton began to see into another memory…
“DOCTOR!, doctor…are you alright?”, the assistant asked as he kneeled down to lift the pained doctor to his weakened feet. “No, I’m fine…I just blacked out, for a second.”, the doctor stated, with a confused expression on his face, “But, my memories are kind of foggy, what happened?”. As the brunette held the woozy doctor up, he explained, “you drunk the serum, and started coughing…you passed out, afterwards…I believed you to be dead…luckily, you’re alive.”.
As the doctor listened, he started to pass out, from the serum. With a blurry vision in his eyes, he started stubbing, feeling the assistant letting him loose. As if the world was in slow motion, he fell to the floor. Hitting the cold ground, he heard a subtle but piercing chuckle. He saw a fuzzy image of his assistant walking away, before dropping a card in front of the floored doctor, which read “the Magician”.
With sliced lizard eyes, the doctor was now covered in grey fur. He kneeled over the muddy dirt, breathing heavily and hissing in fury as his mind was fluttered with nothing but images of him being dragged into a car. Thinking of what happened, the frightened doctor was now a tormenting savage. Staring into the distance, taking huge sniff of air, the creature thought of his assistant, who drove him into the swamp and left him to die. The thought of his help's treachery rung deep as he started growling in anger, the beast had to vent his anger onto someone. Furious, the monster thought of his ex-assistant, and knew who to place his rage on. Immediately, the savage creature howled to the moon before shooting into a all-out sprint of rage and might.
