As for the not talking to bit I just don't talk much lol :P

I look back and think...it's kind of amazing how mature we were for a young age. By first and second grade, we were already getting used to being told we might not be able to get anything for Christmas, or that we'd have to wait and have Christmas in January (which was sometimes then postponed to February). It was upsetting - we were still kids - but we understood the necessity and so we were patient over the years. So as we got older and they still thought about doing things for us, when they do say those same things, Christmas in January/February, or that we probably won't get much of anything, it's not even upsetting at all and my first thought has been "you don't even need to get me anything." We had it down for so many years, so early. And these days I see kids 12 years old, around that age, who don't get it. I hate it because I feel like no child should have to go through that. But beyond that, my amazement is that they don't seem to understand their circumstances like we did; when they get the "Christmas in January" speech, they complain and argue and don't seem to be able to grasp, or to cope with, the fact that it's just not feasible as far as smart finances are concerned. And I'm not entirely sure who's the anomaly, us or them.

Eight months today

I'll celebrate today and remember how you always went all out during Christmas, how you always stayed up till midnight with us so we could open our presents, being up till 2am and sitting there with your massive video camera capturing every moment. I won't be sad today, instead, I'll smile back at the memories you left me with when I was a child.
