It is in the early hours of twilight that I write these collection of thoughts. Even my endless cup sometimes needs to be at least correctly focused, and I have learned keeping a journal can do wonders in that regard. Burning my midnight oil has become a monthly ritual, and I have worked up quite the collection since my rebirth as a way to convey my current state of being...
Patrol last night was almost completely uneventful. I say almost because towards the very end of my patrol, I had happened to stumble into a warehouse. And as I had fully entered the warehouse it had struck me as strange due to the scent of gasoline in the air, these warehouse was one I had traveled past many nights and had never noticed the smell before last night. It was not a faint smell, it was very obvious. I decided to have a quick look, seeing as there was no smoke, and no sign of fire. Perhaps I could prevent a disaster before it even occurred.
Upon entering further into this structure a strange sense came over me, a sense that I have come to trust in over the years. It was the sense that I had experienced these same sights, sounds, and smells before. A past life... In fact it had been almost a hundred years now to the date, when I last experienced these same sensations. Edward James Krasus, aka The Englishmen, was back in town. An Immortal like myself, but unlike myself Edward has walked the path of a warrior for over seven centuries and is a remarkable hunter. Edward has the uncanny gift of getting inside his preys very mind and being able to predict their path. It has made him a very dangerous rival of mine for a great many years.
The scene was horrific when I had finally found the stage of his latest hunt, the group of hired muscle never stood a chance. All of their throats had been cut cleanly from ear to ear, Edwards calling card so to say. He always strikes from the shadows and he never leaves any alive. These men where just in the way of his actual target however, I entered the main office room to find a headless body. Was it another Immortal? It's to late to tell now. Maybe it was, and maybe it wasn't. Edward is a known head collector, he doesn't just cut off his targets head, he keeps it. He puts them on display as a hunter would an elk or deer.
No sign of Edward however, I had just missed him by am hour by the looks of the bodies. The gas was spilled all over all over the headless mans desk, it seems that Edward had stopped the man before he was able to start a fire. I decided to take a look at the contents of the desk itself and there did not seem to be anything worth destroying, so it must have had to been a random event, perhaps for an insurance policy. Without the extra details however, I am just making guesses. All that I know is that I may have a date with destiny soon.
