The Invincibly Super Massive Comic Book Podcast of Stuff: Episode 54
@darknightspideyfanboy: I dont want to listen to the whole thing, can you tell me what he says about hekspont?
@allstarsuperman: nothing much lobdell was just ask if brainiac and helspont were coming back he said yes on both
also i agree with lobdell Starfire didn't fit with the team i still dont think she does kinda wish dc use someone else but i still enjoy lobdell story with her
It always seems like Scott is a nice guy and I have never made any personal attacks against him but I really don't like his writing. His Red Hood run was pretty good but all of his other DC work has not been for me clearly. Do I believe the man deserves the hate he gets? Not really but at the same time I find it hard to vilify anyone who says they want a fun Teen Titans book. I disagree with Scott that fun means childish and goofy. Hawkeye and Daredevil are both very fun but they have a tinge of darkness to them. You can have a fun book that still matters.
I love how people keep assuming writers have absolute complete control over these corporate-owned characters and franchises.
But, here's that video Scott mentioned:
Do cut me some slack Scott, I haven't been after you for months the way I was in the beginning. I am still waiting for the day you aren't writing TT so I can start hoping for something good to read from that particularly mutilated franchise, true. But I have stopped getting so terribly upset about what you're doing, even with Raven who remains my favorite character, since I've come to believe and hope that at some point DC will get it right again.
As for your sales, have you considered how big a segment of the TT buyers do so because it's the only place they can read about their favorite characters? Regardless how much they dislike it? We don't have the luxury of Batman or Wolverine fans who has a billion books to choose from.
Edit: regarding Prime: You don't see the similarities between 2 characters called Superboy, both out of their minds and both with a massive lists of murders to their name?
I love how people keep assuming writers have absolute complete control over these corporate-owned characters and franchises.
I think most of us have an equal amount of distaste for DC's current editorial dictation. Bottom line is it's the writer's name on the credits page, so they're the ones that are going to get the praise/condemnation. If your suggesting Lobdell's poor reviews are because of the corporate machine, then he should do what Fialkov and Diggle did and move across the isle or create something new.
@g_man If my maths is right you've done 199 episodes of the regular podcast :)

that a funny vid man
Oh man it would be amazing if the internet was polite for at least one hour... that will never happen.
Great podcast. I think a detailed description of cold fusion will be published before the majority people on the internet become polite, haters are gonna hate as long as they have the anonymity of the internet to hide behind. Thank you Comicvine for cultivating what I think is mostly a positive environment for the discussion of comics. Comicvine is definitely way better in terms of the comment sections than many other sites.
This was one of the best ISMCBPOS episodes. I love how at one point it was Lobdell interviewing Tony.

Yeah, editorial can be a pain. I think we have all come to realize that given the things DC has done, and that whole 5 year timeline screwed up SO much, but at the end of the day it is still the writer's name on the cover. I think if you are willing to put your name on something then you should be ready to accept any praise or criticism you receive. In Lobdell's case I think he has been very lucky to have been paired up with someone as talented as Rocafort, but his recent DC stories, especially his Titan ones, have been poor in my opinion. Sure hate towards him about "how he turned Starfire into a slut" step over the line, but the low reviews from consumers and sites about a lot of his stories aren't all to be scoffed at. As a fan you should always hope stories and characters you like get better. I hope that they shake up Teen Titans sooner rather than later because that book is in need to a new creative team and direction I think.
@jasoninthewoods: Some people on the internet can be so annoying. They will do anything to cry about something.
Please don't take this the wrong way but I was a little disappointed with the podcast. Scott Lobdell is some one I really wanted to hear from as a creator. I feel that too much of the podcast was spent discussing some people who don't like or care about this man.
January 1rst say something nice on the internet ;)
@jasoninthewoods:
Me neither. I have met him. It was at ComiKaze then LBCHC two week later. Super nice guy. lol He noticed me (a Red Hood cosplayer) first and said, "Hi, Red Hood." I was stunned.
I don't agree with "don't rush to judgement on things". I knew I was going to be mad about Avengers Arena before it came out and sure enough what I thought was going to happen, happened. I knew from educated guesses based on prior experiences with similar fiction. I knew that not all the characters were going to die in the book. I knew arcade was going to be stopped somehow. However I knew my favorite character's solo books weren't popular enough to save him (Juston if you must know) and sure enough he was killed. I didn't complain til the end of the volume, holding out hope that it might be alternate reality or something, to no avail.
I can't help but think that if I had complained sooner and louder that someone responsible for this might have heard me and changed their mind. Maybe they might have noticed the value in the character and the books that I noticed. Instead I "didn't rush to judgement on things" and now I'm left to myself, screaming to the heavens without any response because clearly nobody else cares.
"If you don't like a title stop buying". Thanks for the advice but it didn't help. Juston isn't Peter Parker and he's not going to come back.

i can only agree here, had to stop listening.. talk about beating a dead horse comes to mind.. over and over about people being negative etc etc
I agree with that some people can be negative... but do we have to give them that much thought and air time..
would have preferred hear more about Lobdell'smotivations behind his titan storylines and where he sees the titan book going in the future...
sorry @g_man you are great but could not face it
i dont read gritty books (no batman for me) or like gritty art. give me pink skies, rainbows and unicorns any day of the week. i DONT want to see anyone suffer, i want everyone to be happy. i never understand "i love this character i want to see them suffer" i think someone needs to look up the meaning of love.... deadpool is NOT a sunshine happy book. just because he jokes doesnt remove the fact that his body is being chopped off here and there. now young justice, that was a fun book until the last 20 issues or so when kid lobo joined up and it got too dark. titans go should never be compared to young justice, that is like comparing a cheeseburger (yummy justice burger) to a salad (gross titan salad)

This completely.
It came off more as Lobdell saying "everyone is mean to me and I don't know why" rather than what he has in store for the Teen Titans.
I was happy to hear that he hinted that the characters will develop and mature into a more familiar state, but as of now they are still kids that are unfamiliar with each other. I was at least okay with hearing that he will develop them (it was a bit more implied).
And it almost seems like he's putting everyone who doesn't like his work in the same boat (almost). I know some people can spit cobra venom,but......
I mean, the Teen Titans are supposed to act like friends and (as they develop) family, but I think that (as he implied),he will develop them later.
that is like comparing a cheeseburger (yummy justice burger) to a salad (gross titan salad)
funny!!! liked this
@cameron83 can't say I got anything from Lobdell about improving titans or developing.. but i did stop listening and i was bored of the moaning

Well he sorta implied it at like 43:00
I doubt that it'll improve or anything...
But it is almost like he says that they will "come togethor and form bonds",but at the same time it's like he's saying that "it's not like that anymore". I know I am taking these quotes a bit out of context, but it's almost as if he's saying that their relationship and family status will be there, but at the same time it's like he's saying "this is the new 52",so we won't get that. And if that's the case, there is no point in calling them the Teen Titans if they will act completely different with the point of "it being a new universe".
