I saw Ironman 3 last week (cause i'm in Australia) and it was way batter to Ironman 2. The mandarin wasn't in it the way you would think (but i don't want to spoil it) and extremis has a way bigger presence than I expected. I defiantly recommend you all go and see it.
@wes_master_general: We've both seen it now but are not talking about it in any way.
Someone was going to do it...
Chumbawamba doesn't mean anything. At the time we formed (early '80s) there was a rush of bands with obvious names. It was the time of ‘peace punk' and you couldn't get across a youth club dance floor without bumping into a Disorder, a Subhumans, a Decadent Youth or an Anthrax t-shirt. We liked the sound of Chumbawamba because it wasn't nailing ourselves down. Thatcher On Acid were a good band but it's lucky for them that Thatcher stayed in power for 11 years. If her influence had only lasted 18 months Thatcher On Acid's sell-by date would have come and gone a lot sooner. We wanted a name which wouldn't date.
I heard Robert Downy Jr didn't hold out for 50 million to do Avengers. He was smart when he signed his contract for Iron Man 1 and told them if they ever made an Avengers movie he wanted a certain percentage of those profits. The profits he made on Avengers came out to around 50 million bucks.
@johnnyjoker28: Yeah, I figured it was something more like that.
@g_man:It appears Robert Downy Jr may be as smart as Tony Stark, haha
Man...you guys are pretty down on Guardians. Not sure why. This should be the thing we support, characters outside of just the typically known comic characters getting movies. Naysaying everything? Come on. This makes it seem like all we should have are cap, hulk, and thor...
How were we down on it? Saying it's a big risk for Marvel studios isn't talking about the quality of the film at all. It's concern over its financial success due to the lack of star power and how the general masses have virtually zero knowledge of these characters (at the moment). We obviously want it to rock, but to think it's a big risk for the studio is perfectly justified.
I listened to this solely because katzman is on there
Hey, that's pretty cool of you. Hopefully it was entertaining!
I like Gregg on the show better than when I'm on; however, I'm much funnier.
Oh, yeah? Well... *insert awkward comeback here*
The conclusion of the mandarin in IM3 was kinda weak, I wish they would have done a little bit better; however, i like the main villain though.
The demographic is 50/50 male and female.
Source?
@G_Man @k4tzm4n Thanks for a fun podcast and do behave, some people do love 'I get knocked down', it's a jolly singalong!
I don't get why neither of you think Brainiac is a suitable villain for the silver screen Superman reboot - it's more than 30 years since we believed a man could fly; is it so much harder to believe a man can shrink cities? Superman is science fantasy, why should filmmakers pander to non-comic fans who fret about 'realism'? Make it but, make it magic!

Thanks for listening! I'm sure he could work, but as I say in the podcast, I think Zod seems like a more logical choice for the studio and it can still be "magical." The trailers look awesome, right?!
@g_man: Oops sorry. Didn't mean to spoil anything!
@k4zm4n The latest trailer is pretty good, it helps not having Pa Kent being morally questionable. There's not much Zod in there, he seems OK - but I'm just so bored with 'kneel before Zod' references ... lets hope the film avoids 'em. Really, I just want a film that isn't ashamed of its comic book roots, unlike Nolan's Batman films.

Well, I guess we'll have to see who they pick as an antagonist if we do get a MoS 2 ;)
Gregg making an epic comeback!
You spelled "alright" wrong.
@k4tzm4n: Nono, you must be losing you mind there!
